Upto $400M loss on Concord. $3.5B on a Bungie buyout marred in controversy and lack of results, so much that they are being dissolved back into the main company. A number of live service game cancellations, one of which (Naughty Dog's Factions) was quite far along. Yet no mention of PlayStation being a 2024 loser also? Whilst Xbox had an identity crisis, understating the impact of Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 is kinda crazy. "While Game Pass benefits are evident, they significantly impact traditional sales, those outside of subscriptions. Physical sales on Xbox have declined, but there has been a remarkable increase in Game Pass subscriptions: Microsoft’s revenues surged by 43% over the launch weekend of BO6, setting a new record for Game Pass sign-ups. Additionally, it’s important to note that there has also been a 60% increase in sales on PlayStation and Steam." @@GameMakersDev And another two first party studio games cancelled by PlayStation today according to Jason Shrier. One from Sony Bend and another from Bluepoint games. Both haven't put out games since 2019 and 2020 respectively. What are the total loss dev costs on these? Will your experts talk about these issues at Sony? Will they talk about the net profit Sony actually makes per console (which would reveal that 65M consoles shipped (not sold) isn't as much money as it sounds like). Damn...do I need to come on the show (joking) 😆

To much safety/censorship can be bad since it tends to have a lot of false positives and the ones that make the AI trend make it censor according to their own ideology, making some of the players angry.

AAA games can sell a lot if they are made according to what the player base wants. What many companies have instead focused on is: trying to get ESG loans/investment, government grants, government tax deals, put in as much monetization as possible, get god revues for journalists, becoming racially diverse and trying to make male games appeal to women and LGBTQ+++

Have Unity fixed the graphic presets so 3d games will look good without configuring them, many indie games made on Unity looks bad since they have not changed the graphics setting in the engine since they don't understand it. Epic have good graphic presets so armatures using it makes way prettier games than if they used Unity.

That and just missing many of the capabilities that unreal has built in. Let’s hope Unity continues to turn things around on tech execution.

@@GameMakersDev It should be a really easy fix it should not take more than some days to change the base graphic presets. The longer it takes to fix such a obvious thing the more skeptical I become about the turn around.

Unity could have had a different pricing model than run time fees. like X% tax on of in game purchase's and X% tax on advertisement revenue from in game ads.

Lol. I won’t go that far and will avoid politics but the point you are raising about the movement away from hard work is true. Facebook for such a huge company has famously completely shifted its culture this year so it’s possible for any company with the right leadership.

@@GameMakersDev Ubisoft don't have strong network effects like Facebook and there fore the company is way more punished by bad decisions. After the stock price collapsed i looked into the company to figure out if I wanted to invest into it, but i decided to stay away after looking into some leaks. They have a big staff and allegedly still have to use contractors to make big parts of their games since their employees cant do those parts properly. There is still a lot of value in their IP. Someone might buy them and close them down and use/sell the IP.

They should have raised more money when the Stock price was high. They should have been better at keeping the studio's from heiring to much and going woke.

@@GameMakersDev I looked at investing in the company when it was going up. They were really good at getting good deals. But I deiced to stay away since the stock were to expensive and they were not racing money when it was obvious that they should. I have bough some after it fell down I am at break even now hoping the split up will make more investors interested to invest in a specific part. And I think some of the cuts have ben good. This is not Investment Advice.

@@GameMakersDev This is why that statement is funny to me, Joseph. I have a different perspective on this guy. He ghosted me after a 3 year relationship and left me with the financial burden of a house that was supposed to be "our dream house". When I began seeing him, while he was married, I had 150k in my bank account, had never been to jail, had friends, family and my health. After 3 years of knowing him, I became penniless, started experimenting with ketamine at his suggestion, went to jail for an overdose, lost my friends, lost my son, and now have crohn's disease from the stress. When I went to go sue this asshole, he admitted to my attorney that he had been recording FaceTimes of me the entire time that I was employed at Global Worldwide as a quest writer. He used intimidation and violence and fear to silence me. If I don't find a job soon, in 12 days I will be on the street because I have $3.18 cents to my name. I have thousands of emails, records, and photos of Will Harbin professing my love for me and how he wanted to help me and my disabled son. This man is dangerous. I am on my death bed from crohns and he has hacked all of my devices. He will probably try to sue me for this comment but he won't get a penny because I have nothing or nothing to lose. This man is pure evil on every level. So, that's where my response came from.

If one were inclined to be provocative, one could argue that the Asian market understands the time value of money better than the Western one. However, in truth (and as you both point out), the Western market understands it perfectly well, too, and the pay-to-win "debate" is basically nonsense. For myself, I'm going contrarian. The very concept of "winning" is tired. Cute and cozy is where it's at. If history is a guide, the market will agree with me in five years.
