I absolutely love the franchise. Such a unique world and vibe, and it’s truly underrated. Shame it was a causality of the recent sega mass delistings, more people should experience it, and that HD remaster was really good. Luckily it always somewhat lives on within Sonic franchise cameos (such as in the Sonic 3 movie with the Chao they based off it)

It would also be vastly interesting to see and learn how their world and what we knew from the first game and how the people of land survived and built up walls and a city to help defend them from the metal heads

My local Pizza Hut rotated the first three or so Metal Slug games. Lots of fun memories playing with friends and family at birthday parties or just going out for pizza night. That Pizza Hut has long since been closed.

Damn, cant believe the death and rebirth showed how much of a mess SNK was in. I didnt knew the IPs were split. For those who do not know. Just imagine Marvel dying at the turn of 2000 and their IPs being split to many studios and companies.

Nice video, but it lacks some explanation and description, maybe if you put more emotion into explaining some of the things, like when u explain the ms6 part, it just blend, i expect some reaction and more explaining of the level. Still, good video, not so many talk abt ms nowadays

Never played this but by God do I want to. I have the soundtracks and listening to it gives me nostalgia for an experience I never had! It's not right that a game like this, where two people died during its making, is not readily available for people to check out.

This world has lived rent free in my head for nearly thirty years. Pops in my thoughts every so often. Liked the remake but wish the original was available enough. Had a unique vibe modern hardware can't replicate

I can't comment on its quality as a game because I've not played it, but Journey of Dreams put me off as soon as I saw the characters talking. I know limitations of the Saturn or what not but part of the original game's magic and power is how up to interpretation everything is. If it was all spelled out, it wouldn't be as good

What an awesome vid. I knew none of that stuff about Journey of Dreams’ development, but it makes perfect sense that such a padded game was rushed to hell and back.

1:21:00 unless you are a cultured individual and you know that The Lost Frontier is not a Jak and Daxter game and doesn't count in the series. It's basically just a shitty fan game

30:06 Slight correction, the chainsaw starts with 3 fuels pips but through the course of the game upgrades to 5. But dependent on the enemy it is used on it uses more fuel. Low-level fodder enemies use 1 pip, and heavies use 3. The BFG is limited to 3 shots however.

I played the hell out of MS 1 and 2. I used to beat Metal Slug 2 in one coin, no death. Kids and adults used to gather around the arcade machine whenever I showed up to play

First game I ever played was metal slug. Mormon missionaries would take my brother and me to the pizza shop next to my apartment building, load it up with quarters, and let us play. I have no idea why they did this. They asked if there was anything they could do for us and my mom being prideful said no. But, me being 5 and having no concept of money, asked if they could help me play the game my mother couldn’t help Me with (because we were poor). And they did.

Metal Slug X and 3 will always be my favorite entries. Seeing the protags and rebel army work together for the first time on almost every final mission was so damn cool. And its sound bites and theme is a cult classic.
