I love the Onimusha series, I've only played the first 3 only a handful of years ago. Personally I recommend Samurai Warriors 4 over 5. In Samurai Warriors 4 all the characters have unique move sets, you can create a character and play that character to do your own role play. In Samurai Warriors 5 however the move sets are tied to the weapons not the character so the only thing that makes them unique is their Special and 1 or 2 heavy attacks. So all the characters in SW 5 share a lot of the same moves which disappointed me when I realized it, I'm sure many probably don't mind the difference and can enjoy 5 anyway but I feel I should this little tidbit be known incase anyone would want more originality from each playable character.

What's good HotFix_Gaming fam and subscribers?! I hope that everyone is doing well and having a great weekend. I am too. I'm just wishing I had another day because weekends seem shorter nowadays or maybe it's just me. 😂 Anyway, you're on point as always with this list of zombie games. I've played every game on this list except The Walking Dead, 7 Days to Die, and of course, Project Zomboid. I wish they would re-release it for PS5 or even Xbox since it's currently only on PC. It definitely looks like something special and I like that throwback, isometric design. I just downloaded Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP from PlayStation Store yesterday and I look forward to playing it soon. Right now, I'm focused on finishing Black Myth: Wukong and playing Astro Bot before I move onto anything else. I loved how the original Lollipop Chainsaw didn't take itself too seriously, so I'm hoping this new version keeps that same vibe amidst the changes they implement. Oh and kudos to the Reddit user who didn't get the trophy for peeking up Juliet's skirt. The guy must be a real monk or something as it's the easiest trophy to get. Like Will Ferrell said on the first Anchorman movie, "I'm not even mad. That's impressive." 🤣 I have Dead Rising Remake on pre-order already. My boy Frank West is looking more and more like Michael DeSanta from GTA V in the remake. 😅 Also, it's cool that we got remakes for two of the greatest zombie games in the same month. Since it seems highly improbable that we'll be getting a sequel to Days Gone, maybe we can at least get a remake or remaster with improved visuals and gameplay mechanics. It's a cult classic at this point in time. Left 4 Dead, Dying Light, and Dead Island were all amazing series, so I'm glad to see them on this list. I knew Resident Evil was going to be Number 1. I just wasn't sure which game from the series, however. Lol I think I would choose RE2 Remake as my favorite also and I think an argument could easily be made for 3, 4, and 7 as well. A game that I think deserves an honorable mention is World War Z. Despite getting mediocre ratings upon its release (personally, I would give it a 7.5/8 myself), it had a good co-op campaign, decent graphics, and fairly large maps. I haven't played the State of Decay games either, but I've heard and seen great things about them. Maybe once I'm done with my PS5 backlog, I'll give it a try since I already downloaded it a while back on Game Pass. Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare was incredible and gave me something to do after the ending of the core RDR game. The first Borderlands game had a fun zombie DLC expansion as well called The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned if you haven't played it already. On another note, I finally got my hands on an Astro Bot controller. The average asking price is $120 online, but I got it for $80 including shipping and tax via an eBay auction. I really like the design and the feel/texture of it. Now I just have to find the time to play Astro Bot. I'm still having fun with Black Myth Wukong and taking my time with it, so it's definitely next on my queue along with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Dead Rising Remake.

Hey @EBrant_3rd , so far so good, thanks, and glad you are too. Time flies when you are enjoying yourself haha. Glad you liked the video, always happy to see people enjoy them at least. hopefully they will at some point, and the walking dead is one to try and it is not a long game either, at least. Do want to get repop, waiting to finish astro bot at the moment too haha. Never actually noticed that but I see what you mean about Frank, haha. The same company are working on a live service I believe and I think they are using an open-world system of days gone so hopefully might get something similar. It was a hard one for resident evil, but I felt that 4 and 7 are not actual zombie games, of that make sense, They are survivor horror, yes, but not exactly zombie games. World war Z same again, never played them, so was not sure whether to include it or not. It was a brilliant add on wasn't it. No have not played that one actually, did not know there was a zombie dlc for the first borderlands. That's not bad to be honest, When I got the Hogwarts one from ebay cost me £90, so you got it as a bargain from ebay. Been using it while playing astro bot and it does feel good. Space Marine 2 does look really good, need to get round that one at some point.

(In my best Country Western accent) Another mighty fine list if I do say so myself. 😆 These are all amazing AA games that could go toe to toe with or even outshine a lot of AAA titles and one alleged AAAA title that came out earlier this year and shall remain nameless. 🤐 I can't get over how good of a game Robocop: Rogue City was. I almost passed on it until I saw your video last year and when I bought & tried it myself, I was not disappointed. There were points in the game where the story had heightened drama or plot twists that I had to stop playing due to life and work commitments that I couldn't wait to jump back into the action. It's cool to see Plague Tale get love two weeks in a row. It's an amazing game duo that I could easily see Netflix or Amazon Prime make a series out of it. You said something really interesting towards the end of your segment on it. Actually, it's quite the opposite of what you said. It would be awesome to see a video on games that you don't necessarily need to play the previous entry to get into the story or action. Another Crab's Treasure is like Hollow Knight to me in the sense that the main character looks like this cute, innocent little creature, but will decimate opponents with pure savagery with timing of moves being of the essence as a soulslike/soulslite. Evil West was another great game. It reminded me of the Remnant games (which could be added to this list), but the story wasn't it's strong suit, as you said. Lies of P was in my Top 10 games of 2023, Stray was a fun, adventurous game that almost made me a cat fan as I've always been a dog person, and Nier: Automata was one of those games that was better than the original in almost every way conceivable, IMO. Hi-Fi Rush was high-octane action personified with a great soundtrack and art design. Disco Elysium was visually stunning too with a compelling story and nice world to explore. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is still one of my favorite games of the past decade. It was like a combination of Shadow of the Colossus and Ori and the Will of Wisps. I feel like it was what Forspoken could have been if the developers actually put more time into crafting dialogue worth listening to and despite the latter looking more realistic, Kena: Bridge of Spirits was overall better visually. I know I mentioned Remnant and Hollow Knight earlier, but I would also add Dredge, Sea of Stars, Hades, and Atomic Heart to this list of AA titles not to be overlooked. Although, I know you would disagree on the latter. LOL! On another note, your most anticipated game of September came out yesterday. I pre-ordered my copy from Amazon and got it today, but haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. I know it's going to be amazing judging from the reviews and footage I've seen. It looks like a huge improvement over Astro's Playroom, which was an incredible game itself. I was trying to get one of those limited edition Astro Bot designed controllers, but they're either sold out everywhere or the price has been doubled or tripled by retailers who do have them in stock. I'm not trying to spend more on a controller than a game, so I guess it's for the best. 😅🤷

Hey @EBrant_3rd, haha was reading it in that way when you mentioned it. Glad you gave it a chance and actually enjoyed it. No rush with games, wish I was able to play everyday like when was still a kid. It would be good if they did; to be fair the set pieces would look incredible if they did. That is an interesting idea. I'll Look more into it see if its possible to do one. Cheers for suggestion. See why you say that about evil west. For me I see it like a ps2 game with modern graphics. Agree with you with Neri; personally, was not aware of the first game until automata came out. Forspoken had potential; gameplay was not too bad but diaolgue defintley should have taken a different approach. Absolutley had a blast playing kena. It's okay everyone has their own take in this and respect you would add the game on it haha. Been looking forward to astro bot more than black myth. Probably because it looks like a platformer from ps2 days. Got a copy and have not started playing yet, hopefully soon. Actually managed to get the astro bot controller. Went on Playstation direct when the preorders were open. Gonna open it when I start playing game.

@HotFix_Gaming Okay cool. Yeah I totally understand where you're coming from. Life was a lot simpler back then. After coming home from school, we just had to do homework and a few chores before we could play the game. Although there were times where I would play the game first and then do my homework later if it wasn't too much. Now it's like, I oftentimes don't have the energy or even the urge to play a game after getting home from work as there are more responsibilities in life now. I can definitely see that about Evil West. It did have PS2 era vibes with modern graphics. The same definitely goes for Astro Playroom/Bot. I haven't had a chance to play it yet either. The gameplay and appeal of such games are definitely reminiscent of 3D PS2 platformer games like Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Rayman, Spyro the Dragon, Rayman, Banjo Kazooie, etc. The closest thing I've played to Astro Bot, aside from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Super Mario Bros Wonder, are the two Knack games that came out a few years ago. They may not have gotten the critical acclaim of the aforementioned games, but I really enjoyed playing them. I wish I had thought to pre-order a controller from PlayStation Direct. The prices seem to be inflated on there as of now too, so I may be fortunate enough to catch a deal for one on eBay. The fact that it's sold out in most places in such a short time span just shows Astro's popularity and I'm sure the sales are going to be very high also. It's already been said to be Game of the Year by several critics and fans alike.

Thank you for another great video. I'm laughing and shaking my head at the clip of dude in tighty whities at the beginning of the video. 🤣😮‍💨🤦🏾‍♂️ This was definitely a great list though and you made compelling arguments for each game. I think that a Part 2 of this video is definitely needed. Uncharted 4 was definitely the best game of the series for me and I think it's one of those series where each game was better than the previous entry. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the pinnacle of Rockstar Games with its immersive open world and variety in characters. Like I've heard on another channel, Grand Theft Auto VI will literally have to be the greatest game ever made when it finally comes out, otherwise it will be a colossal flop. The same can be said about the final game in the Final Fantasy VII trilogy. Remake was great, Rebirth is phenomenal, so I can only imagine what the next entry will be like. I even wonder if they're going to use another R word like Requiem to continue the pattern. 😅🤔 We've discussed this time and again, but it never ceases to amaze me how far Cyberpunk 2077 was able to come from its initial disaster of a launch. It truly is a 10/10 game now and the Phantom Liberty is one of the best DLCs I've played in recent memory. A lot of people including myself was skeptical of the whole Kratos being a father and somehow ending up in a Norse mythological setting storyline when the trailer was first revealed. Also, his blades of chaos being replaced by a magic axe felt weird initially, but as I got deeper into the game, I got comfortable using the axe and the story and game world made me forget all about those old blades. It was a much needed change to evolve Kratos and symbolize his freedom from his Greek God origins and confines. I guess that's why it's good to just sit back and wait until the final product has been revealed sometimes. Sony definitely knew what they were doing. Both of the Plague Tales games were amazing like you said. I feel like it's a game series that is massively overlooked, but those who are aware of its existence know how good it truly is. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was another amazing game and you're completely right about the audio. I bought some Turtle Beach headphones from Amazon and the music, environmental noises, and other sounds immerse you as if the gameplay itself wasn't enough. I love The Last of Us Part 1, Ghost of Tsushima, and Skyrim. I can go on for days talking about those three, so I'll just leave it at that. Overall, this was a great list. I would add The Witcher 3 to this list, especially since it's been upgraded as well as Persona 5, Batman: Arkham City, Mafia Definitive Edition, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Yakuza 0. As much as I loved Infinite Wealth, it had a few flaws and was a solid 9.5/10 for me, but 0 was perfection. Getting to play as a young Kiryu and Goro was a thrill. It was actually my introduction to the series back in 2017. I had heard of the Yakuza series in years prior, but the younger me was interested. After seeing the trailer for Yakuza 0 and actually playing it for the first time, I've been what you would call an advocate and lifer of the series. Rich story, characters with depth, plot twists that should be predictable but often turn out to be a gut punch, cool sandbox style world, various fun side activities, over the top, entertaining action and combat. Yakuza/Like A Dragon has it all and then some, but 0 is near perfection as it gets.

Glad you like it and that is a good movie however haha. Uncharted as a series is great, would love if Naughty dog do a proper remaster of the of the first 2 games again too. For now, RDR 2 defitley is for Rockstar, but strongly believe GTA 6 will top it but we shall see. With how long it is taking to make GTA 6 Hope that channel is right. Bit worried about the price tag of it however. Does not surprise me if GTA 6 will be more expensive than $70. Would be funny if they do that for the FF7 Trilogy. Always did love God of war, played all of them, including the PSP ones too. Defintely 2018 was a brilliant reboot, and personal felt better compared to Regnorok. But at least you get the blades back later on, but still preferred the axe on my playthrough. Funny you said overlooked because actually working on a new video that has that idea over it. They are very good choices, too, the ones you picked. Especially Yakuza 0, which we are going to mention also in a future video soon, actually. Was actually talking about the game today also ironically.

@HotFix_Gaming Okay I'll take your word for it. 😅 What's the name of the movie? I'll have to check it out sometime since you recommended it. Yes that would be amazing if Naughty Dog remastered Uncharted 1 & 2. Sadly, you're right about the steep price tag as I heard one of the people from Rockstar's development team say last year that due to how long it's taking them to put forth the best quality possible in GTA VI, the price will have to be higher than the standard $60-$70 we're used to paying for new games. Same here. I was a true God of War fanatic and had the PSP games also. I did the exact same thing when given the option to use the blades. The axe finally grew on me by the end of the game. Great minds think alike as they say when it comes to Yakuza 0. The theme music that plays every time you fight Yakuza boss Kuze puts it in a class of its own. 😊

What's good, Joy, Josh, and fellow HotFix_Gaming subscribers?! I hope that everyone is doing well. Same here, no complaints. I like tour take on this video. You all did a video about video games based on or inspired by movies rather than video games adapted into movies. I can remember when there was a time where pretty much any action-adventure game was made into a movie (i.e. The Minority Report, Bourne Supremacy, Spider-Man, etc). Nor that there's anything wrong with that, but it's nice to see a fresh perspective on video games that were inspired by one or more movies. I didn't even realize that Starship Troopers was the inspiration behind Helldivers 2 and Uncharted being based on Indiana Jones is obvious. I actually never heard of or saw the movie Internal Affairs until Sleeping Dogs was released and the developers cited it as a major influence. That was definitely a great movie in hindsight. I would like to add Destroy All Humans being based on Mars Attacks, Mafia drawing influence from The Godfather and Goodfellas, and LA Noire being LA Confidential set in the 1940s and also inspired by popular movies of the film noir genre at the time. It even makes reference to some of these movies with the characters and especially the film reels that you can find throughout the city when you're not doing cases. With the seemingly overnight success of Black Myth: Wukong, it would be cool to see a video on novels and books adapted into video games. I've only gotten past Chapter 2 so far. Although I haven't beaten it yet, I'm willing to put it up there with Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Helldivers 2, Tekken 8, and Stellar Blade as my personal favorite games of 2024. It's linear with highly detailed environments and some areas that almost make it seem open-world, a great soundtrack, and epic combat and boss battles. The introduction cutscene and battle was amazing. It reminded me of Asura's Wrath or the beginning of God of War 3 where you picked up where the story left off on 2. I love it when you have an independent developer/publisher showing the mainstream ones how it's done. Black Myth: Wukong is definitely worth all of the hype. I never thought I would see another video game or movie that embodies the Journey to the West lore as much as Dragon Ball Z.

Hey @EBrant_3rd , We are doing well so far and glad you are ok too. Glad you liked the idea and do definitely remember them, especially in the ps2 era where there was a game pretty much with every movie. Did not know about that in destroy all humans and in Mafia can definitely see the inspiration. Have not gotten around the game yet but definitely going to play it at some point. definitely a great effort from game science and heard and seen alot of good things about the game. There is a ps3 game that was loosely based on jounrey to the west and the game is enslaved odyssey to the west. Quite underappreciated game, I believe.

@HotFix_Gaming Absolutely! I completely forgot about that game. It was one of my favorites and truly underappreciated, as you said for PS3. I didn't even pick up on the Journey to the West influence at the time, but in hindsight, I can definitely see it now. It's technically even in the title. 😅 I wouldn't mind getting a current gen sequel or remaster for that game.

What's good HotFix_Gaming and fellow subscribers?! I wholeheartedly agree with every pick on this list. Some others games I would add are Sleeping Dogs w/ DLC (here I go bringing it up again 😅), Just Cause 4, DragonBall Z: Kakarot, Pokémon Legends: Arceus/Scarket & Violet, Grand Theft Auto 5/Online, and Dragon's Dogma 2, just to name a few. Your descriptions and explanations of all the games in this list were truly spot on. I'm laughing like crazy at that clip you included of V shooting that NPC in the head multiple times and him not dying. 😂😭🤣 We've said time and again how amazing it is that CD Projekt Red was able to do a total rebound with that game. Now it's considered one of all the greatest games of this current console generation. The map on Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth was huuuuuuge!!! It's almost like they took all the maps from the previous games and combined them into one...or three if you include the Yokohama and Isezaki Ijincho maps. I went into Dondoko Island just doung enough to get by and get it out of the way to continue with the story. Long story short, I ended up getting addicted by building a whole island, growing crops, farming materials, and cleaning all of the junky areas. It's still my 2024 game of the year. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is right behind it for me as it was also a great game that had an immersive map with a lot to do as far as side quests and achieving Platinum status is concerned. The stories and characters in both games were amazing as well. Skyrim truly is the easiest game to get lost in and I would recommend it to both infrequent gamers and novices alike. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom took everything Breath of the Wild did to a whole new level, hence it being on steroids like you said. Days Gone was a polarizing game at first with it's slow burn beginning, but then it kept getting better up until its conclusion. It's got a cult following and many including myself are clamoring for a sequel. I put Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring at practically the same level with their immersive worlds and intriguing characters. Elden Ring, though, is by far one of the hardest games of recent memory. Like you said, dying and restarting from previous checkpoints is enough to ensure you'll get at least 100 hours out of it. Although they're two different games, Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3 are similar to me too in terms of the open world surroundings and different activities to do outside of the main story missions. Have you been keeping up with or are you interested in Black Myth: Wukong? I can't remember the last time I've been this hyped for a new IP and then it's made by an independent studio, which makes it all the more interesting. Plus it's digital only, so we'll either all be disappointed or pleasantly surprised at the same time since it's less prone to leaks and even reviewers don't have early access to it. It's been 4 years since the first trailer and it's finally coming out. Graphically, it's one of the best looking games on PS5/PC and even looks like it could be a next-gen title. The Xbox version was delayed due to nore time needed to deal with optimization issues. I already pre-ordered my copy and fortunately, August 20 is only 5 days away. I've been hearing and seeing nothing but good things. I think it looks like a combination of Stellar Blade, Wild Hearts, Asura's Wrath, Rise of the Ronin, Sifu, Lies of P, and Ni-Oh, all of which are games I thoroughly enjoyed. The developers said back in 2021 that it would take 20 hours or so to finish it, but with the large environments and 80+ boss battles we've been hearing about and seeing since then, I'm thinking we can probably add this to the list of games with 100+ hours worth of content. Only time will tell though.

The rest are some good choices too. The launch of cyperpunk was in a state and alot of people showed it online when it came out. Took me a long time to start it but was waiting for the 2.0 update before starting to play it and it was a good choice waiting for that long. Remember you talking about infintie wealth and FF7 Rebirth, so thought to include them in the video and them alone take most of the year by them selfs haha. As much would love a days gone sequel, do not think it is happening anytime soon or at all. The Devs behind it are currently working on a multiplayer game. So who knows maybe it might be a game close to it? I'm sure we'll know soon. Yes it is digital, but I think read somewhere they are trying to make physical disks, How true that is, is another story. What I seen about it, what people say is same what you said that it looks like it is going to be a proper next (or current gen if you think about it) title. We need that because we have ps5 or new xbox for a while and only a few games actually felt like they were made just for them. Heard about xbox too, have you seen what devs of game said about xbox?

@HotFix_Gaming Yeah I'm doing well also. Thank you for asking. You're totally right. That would be a long video to list more games with 100+ hours of worthwhile gameplay. I actually wouldn't mind seeing you all do long videos on your channel, but I know that would be very time consuming and many people don't have the attention span to watch those kinds of videos, no disrespect intended. 😅 Okay good. It sounds like you missed most of the hoopla surrounding the disaster of a release. I pre-ordered it from Best Buy, had them delivered it to my house, heard/read all of the negativity and controversy surrounding the game, finally got it in the mail, and was sorely disappointed. That was definitely a smart move to wait for the 2.0 update and CD Projekt Red surely delivered and made up for the debacle. That is so true about Infinite Wealth and FF7 Rebirth taking up much of the year to complete, given all of the content and map size. If someone is looking for a shorter game to beat during their downtime, we won't be recommending those two. You're also correct about Days Gone 2. It's wishful thinking or a pipe dream at this point in time. I hadn't heard about the multi-player game you mentioned by Bend Studios. I'm not too big on multi-player games, but if it's by a developer and publisher I like and trust, I'd be interested. So I'll definitely have to check that out. When you say what the developers of Black Myth: Wukong said about the Xbox release, are you talking about them saying the Series S is not up to par for optimization or did they say something else I missed? The funny thing is that GameScience is known for being a mobile developer and this is their first venture at a major PC/console release, which appears to already be paying off. That's really Microsoft's fault for not making the Series S as optimized as the Series X. I understand that the Series S is meant to be a smaller console that is more energy efficient and consumes less power, but Microsoft has this agreement that a game has to be launched on Series S and X simultaneously. This causes the consumer to suffer, namely those who have the Series X because a lot of games are being profited off by PC and Sony while Microsoft is left out of the loop for a while due to them playing catch up with their optimization issues. They had the same issue with Baldur's Gate 3 last year. The PC version came out in August, the PS5 version came out in September, followed by the Xbox Series S/X in December. Microsoft just needs to do an upgrade to Series S to make it equivalent to the Series X, despite being smaller and in the future when they do two console versions concurrently, somehow make it so that a game will run similarly on both consoles. Personally, I have the Series S as it was easier to get due to the Series X always being sold out at the time, but I'm glad to be a PS5 owner, which is what I primary play my games on.

Yeah that is the one and did not know about baldur's gate having a similar issue. You are right they do need to do an upgrade but from looks of things, do not know how much they will do that at the moment.

@HotFix_Gaming Yeah I hear you and I can see why Watch Dogs isn't everyone's cup of tea. Looking back on it, when they first introduced Watch Dogs 1, the game looked totally different than the end product we got. Graphics wise, it looked like a futuristic PS5/Xbox Series X game during the late PS3/early PS4 Xbox 360 era in the game trailers. When we got it, though, not only did Ubisoft take a few steps back, they actually retreated down a couple flights of stairs. 🤣 The idea and attempt at innovation was there. I thought it had a decent story and above average open world. The gameplay mechanics were somewhat clunky when it came to hacking and and it lacked the ability to drive/shoot simultaneously. Then, the protagonist was essentially a gloomy Batman engaged in some nefarious activities and without the Batmobile and ability to fly down and use a grappling hook to traverse buildings. The second game definitely improved on everything in the first game with a better story, livelier cast/world and improved gameplay mechanics. Watch Dogs: Legion (or WD3 depending on who you ask) tried to take things even further with advanced technology, but the execution and plot fell flat. The best part of Legion, in my opinion, was the DLC released later, where you played as Aiden and his now grown-up nephew, Jackson from the original game.

How is it going HotFix_Gaming fam and subscribers? I hope that everyone is doing well. I am doing pretty well, too. There appears to be some disagreement or discord over the differences what a Roguelike is versus a Roguelite in the comment section. I'm not a huge fan of the genre/subgenre, but I have enjoyed playing some of these kinds of games. From my understanding, the difference lies in having to start over or from a checkpoint in a game after death and whether or not you're able to keep level ups and progression points. Also, Roguelite uses that Roguelike style as it basis while also incorporating elements from other genres. It's basically the same as Soulslike versus Soulslite. Although I've heard of many of these games, I've only played Hades and Returnal from this list. I'm eagerly awaiting Hades 2 and I looked into it, but the early access for Hades 2 is only for PC. The PS5 early access or beta is said to come in the first quarter of 2025. As far as Returnal goes, it holds a special place for me because when I first got my PS5 in January 2023, it was my first actual game I bought for it. What I mean by that is when I got the console, I was able to copy a lot of my PS4 games onto it and upgrade them to the PS5 version. But as far as a physical disc with the PS5 label on it, Returnal was my first. I think it was actually one of the first PS5 games released when the PS5 first came out in late 2020. It was a great game and like you said, that Hyperion boss battle was epic. It took me maybe 3 or 4 tries before I got past that part of the game. 😅

Hey @EBrant_3rd, doing well thank you and hope you are too. Yeah that is pretty muchspot on what you said there. Both very good games them two and yes should have mentioned that to you last time, apologies for that. That's a good memory to remember that and glad it holds a good memory for you. Not sure if that was the case if it was with the console or a bit after. It is an epic battle, the music that goes on during the battle is just something else.

@HotFix_Gaming I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. I am too. Thanks for asking. Oh it's no problem. I've always been a console gamer. I told myself I would eventually give PC games a try, but I haven't seen anything that stands out or is exclusive to PC and not on consoles that would interest me. I just checked and you're right. Returnal came out in April 2021, which was a few months after the PS5 was released in November 2020. You're not kidding about that Hyperion boss battle music. It was epic in every sense of the word. I actually came across a 15 minute loop of it on another channel after reading your comment and had it playing earlier. On the Hyperion level, as you ascend the little cliffs, the music gradually gets louder. Then, you're introduced to the Hyperion monster via the cutscene. Also, they had those rock formations shaped like organ pipes behind a grand piano in an Orchestra blowing in the background. People are still saying 3 years later that that's one of the best boss battles and themes. The whole soundtrack was 🔥. At least for me, there was a drought of great game soundtracks until recently. I remember growing up where just about every game you played had at least a handful of great tunes to jam to. Now, there has been a resurgence. I can think of quite a few games aside from Returnal. Hades, Marvel's Spider-Man 1, 2, and Miles Morales, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War 2018/Ragnarok, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Nexomon/Nexomon: Extinction, Final Fantasy XVI and VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, Judgment/Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon/Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Even though the game itself was lackluster, the 2022 Saints Row Reboot had a decent soundtrack. I apologize for rambling and going off on a tangent. 🤦🏾‍♂️😅 The Hyperion theme just gave me a potential idea for a future video concerning solid game soundtracks.

@@JethanOnYourScreen Roguelikes are games where there's procedurally generated levels and when you die you go back to the start of the game where very little is saved. They typically have lots of items and enemy variety, though that's not a requirement. Roguelites are roguelikes where lots of stuff saves over between runs, or are very easy.
@cymonin5549
@cymonin5549 2 ай бұрын
The way I understand it, Roguelites are easier the more you play because there's meta-progression - specifically different from say item & character unlocks in TBOI, which tend to serve as adding variety rather than making the game strictly easier. Roguelites that are easiest to identify are games that have a progression tree that you can spend points or in game currency on outside of every run: like most bullet-heavens, gunfire reborn, robo quest, etc.

What's up Josh, Joy, and fellow HotFix_Gaming subscribers?! I hope that everyone is doing well on this beautiful Saturday. I can't complain either. This was a great, informative video. It was like a short history lesson, similar to the one y'all did about video game conservation. I really enjoyed it. I've played a lot of game franchises on this list, but I never realized how dangerously close we came to not getting them. It took the impending threat of bankruptcy for their fruition to come about, proving the old adage that pressure creates diamonds. I think it goes without saying that Pokémon and Final Fantasy are the two biggest franchises (and my favorites) on this list, especially the former. I knew that GameFreak published and distributed magazines before Pokémon though. It's hard to imagine a world without Pokémon. The series took the world by storm when I was a child and had other forms of merchandise stemming from it, including the comic books, action figures, the Trading Card Game, clothing, etc. Although not as popular today, Pokémon remains a powerhouse of a brand and has experienced a resurgence when Pokémon Go came out. I used to work part-time cleaning a library as my first post-college job. One weekend, we had to do a deep cleaning of the library. Our supervisor said that she would come to help. There was a crew of maybe 10 of us. This lady literally walked around the library playing Pokémon Go on her phone the whole time we were shampooing the carpets and dusting shelves & windowsills. I was mad as heck at the time. I mean she was our supervisor and the one who signed our checks, but simultaneously, why say you're going to help and not follow through? Then you're playing a game while the rest of us are hard at work. Now, 10 years later, I can laugh about it. 😂😭🤣😅😂

Great video as always, HotFix Gaming! I hope that everyone is doing well. Same here. I purchased and played every game on this list with the exception of The Last Faith, which I'm just now hearing about for the first time. I can definitely see the Castlevania influence on that one. Mortal Shell is probably the closest to a Soulslike game on this list without being a Souls game or spinoff as it gets. It was actually the first Soulslike game I played outside of the Demon's Souls and Dark Souls series after Bloodborne. Lol Wow! I actually never considered Darksiders 3 a Soulslike game as I always saw it in the same vein as God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta. I can definitely see the Soulslike features and mechanics in it, though. Many people said that Darksiders 3 was the worst in the series, but personally, I enjoyed it as much as the second game and more than Genesis, the top-down, rail shooter like sequel that followed it. I get that 3's story wasn't the best, but it was decent enough and absolutely fun traversing through levels and slaying enemies/bosses with Fury. Man, did I love The Surge 1 & 2. You're absolutely right about the sequel being better than the original in just about every way imaginable, especially the camera view and combat being more fluid. The same can be said for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Code Vein was another great Soulslike in its own right and plays similar to Tales of Arise as well. Ha! "2D Souls game" is probably the best way to describe Hollow Knight. It definitely looked innocent in nature at first, but The Knight is no joke. He's like the equivalent to the school nerd that's 130 pounds soaking wet that will beat the breaks off a bully for messing with him too much. 😂 That was actually the game that got me interested in playing 2Ds again prior to The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown earlier this year. Like I said earlier, this is my first time hearing of The Last Faith, but seeing the similarities between it and Hollow Knight makes me want to give it a try. Elden Ring on a list of Soulslike games for beginners is "crazy work" like the younger folks say nowadays. 🤣 As much as I loved Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion that came out last month, it's almost like you're required to die a few times before you can go deeper into the game. You can't afford to let your guard down for a second with that game because the enemy difficulty fluctuates as you progress. It's basically a Soulslike version of Elder Scrolls mixed with Bloodborne, another Soulslike that I wouldn't recommend to beginners given its own difficulty and tendency to make players want to throw their controllers. I'm glad to see someone mention Steelrising as I feel like it's a game that was severely overlooked upon its release. Also, it was cool that you drew the automaton/puppet correlation with Lies of P. I always tell my gamer friends to check out Steelrising if they enjoyed Lies of P. Like you said, it's easier than Lies of P given Aegis' speed. Hades was a great game and I can't wait until the sequel supposedly releases later this year or early next year. It's hard to believe that it was made with a studio of only 20 people, but we've seen more impressive games made by less than that in your video from earlier this Summer. Here are some other Soulslike games I would recommend for beginners or those with a passive interest in the genre. 1.) Lords of the Fallen & its 2023 Remake (The combat and blocking is pretty formulaic and repetitive, so it may even be too easy for some.) 2.) Thymesia (It's more difficult than Steelrising and contains elements of Ni-Oh.) 3.) The Technomancer 4.) Immortal Unchained 5.) Ashen 6.) Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (This was one of the more underappreciated titles of last year. I would put it on the same level of Rise of the Ronin as far as it trying to emulate that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Ghost of Tsushima type of samurai/ninja gameplay. However, it also has Soulslike elements that make it stand apart from the others.) 7.) Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (It just came out less than two weeks ago and is often dubbed a "Soulslite" rather than Soulslike due to its obvious influence from the genre. It's made by A44 Games who are responsible for Ashen. It got mixed to average reviews because the combat is a little clunky and its emulation of God of War and Elden Ring doesn't quite hit the mark and leaves something to be desired. Its definitely worth checking out though and I would wait for a sale or play for free with Xbox Game Pass since it's currently priced at $50.)

Hey @EBrant_3rd, we are doing well thank you and hope you are ok too. Take it you are a big soulslike fan than since you played pretty much all of them. Yeah from what was reading people tend to say Darksiders 2 was the overall better game in the series. But everyone has their own preference at the end. I have never heard someone describe hollow knight like that, that's brilliant 😂. If you ever try it, share your thought about the game. Had a feeling someone would mention that in regards to eldin ring. But out of all fromsoftware games that involve this play style, still say it is the easiest one to get into. Defitnely is the easier of the two. Almost included Lies of P instead but Steelrising is definitely easier of the two. It is a great game and I think Hades 2 is currently on early access so you can check it out. Yeah that is true Sometimes all you need is a small good team to make something great. Thank you very much for the recommendation some of the titles mentioned never heard myself, so it is appricated it.

@HotFix_Gaming You're very welcome for the suggestions. LOL! Yeah I'm definitely big on Soulslike games. 😅 I think I'm driven by the deep exploration of the game world and the challenge of fighting and countering/parrying against increasingly difficult enemies as the game progresses. Open world third-person games are my favorite, but Soulslike is a very close second. I'll definitely let you know my thoughts on The Last Faith. Hahaha! Thank you. The Knight looks all innocent, but he's a master swordsman. You're right. Elden Ring is the easiest From game to get into. I know people who don't even play games like that saying how much they love Elden Ring. Oh I didn't realize Hades 2 had early access. Thank you for the heads up. I'll definitely have to check that out. From what I've seen so far from gameplay videos and pictures, it appears to be on par with the original.
