The Cyrillic alphabet is neither russian, nor slavic. It was addopted by slavic and non-slavic tribes , including the russians long after it was developed in Bulgaria. Stop falsifying the history and spreading desinformation . The Cirillic is in fact a Bulgrian alphabet, simply because it was developed to suit the Bulgarian languge during the 9th century AD at the Bulgarian Preslav Literary School in the First Bulgarian Empire during the reign of Tsar Simeon I the Great. It was developed by disciples of the two Byzantine brothers Cyril and Methodius, who had previously created the Glagolitic script. Those scholars have names - Clement of Ohrid, Naum of Preslav, Constantine of Preslav, Joan Ekzarh, Chernorizets Hrabar, Angelar, Sava and others. The Cirillic script was conceived and popularised amongst other slavic tribes by the followers of Cyril and Methodius in Bulgaria, rather than by Cyril and Methodius themselves. Its name denotes homage rather than authorship. The script is named in honor of Saint Cyril, but was 100% developed by the Bulgarian scholars of Preslav Literary School for writing the Bulgarian language.

The Tudor legal changes also did for Cornish language Cumbric too and near genocide by the Anglo Saxon drove the Cornish and Welsh west separating them by Bristol Channel the story however is not as black and white as portrayed, ruling Norman elites dominated in all the British islands and intermarriage plus feudal disputes drove the occupations- as always the people in such times had no choice but to follow the ruling of the baron/lord/duke etc

In Mary Immaculate High in Cardiff children have 1 Welsh lesson in 2 weeks, taught mostly by supply teachers, as there is luck of Welsh teachers 😢. The other Welsh lessons were converted into Photography and reading in English. They have no chance to learn Welsh like this!

There are fewer people of Slavic descent in Russia (proportional to the population) than in any other eastern European country, yet the author uses Russian language to showcase Slavic languages. Sick and tired of this.

Lmao. How does language correlate with the population? Besides, here in Russia, since I live here, I can confidently say that there are still significantly more Slavs than non-Slavs. But it doesn't matter. Russia is a multinational country.

It is historical and linguistic sacrilege to omit Bulgaria’s role in the creation and distribution of the Cyrillic alphabet. The alphabet is Bulgarian and it has been adopted by the rest of the nations that are using it now. Just stop drumming this nonsense about Cyrillic alphabet being Russian!

Very good piece but you should be shouting from the rooftops about the efforts of a Pennsylvania based company called Duolingo who produce a free app that now enables anyone of even idle curiosity to get a good grounding in Welsh, Irish and Scottish Gaelic. The Welsh offering is particularly thorough and is a formidable 69 units long... it will not let you fail, what with its endless drills, and your diffidence will soon be cured, as with the Irish and Sc Gaelic offerings. I happen to think that Irish is easier but in any case it should be pointed out how pundits reckon Welsh to take roughly twice as long as French to learn. With Duolingo you can pursue multiple languages and still not pay any money over nor is there a time limit. You can also resume your efforts after a period of absence and the app will keep your place

Thank you for this video. Most people do not realize the Vikings were there on Greenland for 400 years and there may have been as many as 5,000 at their peak. It is logical to include among the causes of their decline the Little Ice Age that hit in the 14th century. Not only did it make things cooler, but it may have disrupted precipitation patterns and put them in draughts that stressed them even more. Along with that came unsettled weather, which made it dangerous to sail from the east to the west. Also, the need for wood made them dependent on trips to N America. All indications were the Vikings never set up a trading relationship with the Native population and trying to extract resources from a hostile land on ships with limited board may have become too much for them to maintain. It appears some went back east, some may have merged with the Inuit and those that stayed just died out.

The role of Tsar Simeon the Great and the Bulgarian Empire in the development and spread of the Cyrillic alphabet is a significant point of national pride for Bulgaria. It underscores the country's historical contribution to the cultural and linguistic development of the Slavic world. This contribution has sometimes been overshadowed by the later adoption and adaptation of the Cyrillic script by other Slavic nations, including Russia, leading to differing national narratives about the script's origins and development. Let that sink in...

Fun fact, apart from the Cyrillic alphabet, which was created in the Bulgarian capital Preslav, by order of the Bulgarian Tsar Simeon by the Bulgarian scribes Saints Klimen and Nahum. The Gothic script was also created in Bulgaria by the Gothic bishop Wulfila (311 - 383) in the 4th century

Of course Welsh will Never die. It survived because we speak out language on daily basis. Sadly we have to have an English to be called Prince of wales. The previous Prince of Wales did not learn much about Welsh history or tried to even talk, speak welsh. Both stayed on our island !!!!!i it is a joke but there we are. Sadly the REAL Prince of Wales was killed his daughter sent to England and never knew that she was the Real Princess of Wales, sadly look what we have!!!!!
