I saw them at Tonbridge, Angel Centre about 2 year before. Great showmen (and women)

What presence! One cannot just listen to them, they are compelling viewing. Surely a completely brilliantly unique band.

WTF?¿ I'm 61 years old and a musician, a drummer. And i'm just now hearing about this band? And most of the original band is gone, is that right? And this came out of the psychedelic freak show prog band called Gong?!?! My mind is spinning right now. In a very good way! I got here because I followed a couple links from a news story. I guess you could say I went down the rabbit hole. And found something more than rabbit poop. Damn I'm fired up!!!!

They didn't come from Gong but were almost certianly influenced by them even if it isn't always sonically obvious. Current Gong frontman Kavus Torabi was in Cardiacs, replacing Jon Poole there on lead guitar for the final lineup before band leader Tim Smith had a heart attack and developed Dystonia.

Nice one Michael - I'm sitting here hearing what I think is the best version of stoneage dinosaurs live that I've heard - I've got a wet face from it! Such beautiful memories.

Genious. Tim was a true genious and I feel like I know this wonderful secret because Cardiacs are no where near as well known as they should be. Its a shame but alas, it makes me feel special somehow!

An interesting gig with them transitioning away from the make up and stuff. I wish I’d seen them mid-80s. I grew up near where Tim Was born and they did loads of little gigs in the Surbiton/Kingston area (likely due to the Poly in Kingston). But I was 16 in 1988 so juuuust a bit too young to have seen them at the Assembly Rooms.

Wow...! This was my second full Cardiacs gig (with Sea Nymphs and Panixphere having been seen within 2 months...! Tim Smith grabbed my attention and I was addicted...!) After the thrilling first (Cardiacs) gig at the ULU, I already felt I belonged... I'm one of the Pondies dancing on stage and throwing confetti... one of the most memorable gigs I went to, and now I can fully reminisce at the whole gig...!! Thank you for posting this...!! ❤

@@stephenlynchprivate2137 he was a lovely chap, I wish I had known him in better health, he was very ito talk to about music. Both the listening to and the production of it, something that I pursue as quite the amateur and he was always up for answering my questions.
