It saddens me that I only found this band last week. It saddens me they are not more widely known. It saddens me that such brilliance could fall on deaf ears. It saddens me that Tim is in bad shape. But it heartens me that music that matters finds its way to listeners like me. It inspires me that I can still find things I can love and that invigorate me. I just hope Tim and the others can know that what they have done matters

disfibulator don't give up hope hombre. Tim might never return to live performance , but there's no reason to believe he won't return to composing , now that his rehabilitation has picked up pace , particularly w/ assistive technologies to help him drive a DAW or whatever. His minds in good shape, he's just lost control of his body

WTF?¿ I'm 61 years old and a musician, a drummer. And i'm just now hearing about this band? And most of the original band is gone, is that right? And this came out of the psychedelic freak show prog band called Gong?!?! My mind is spinning right now. In a very good way! I got here because I followed a couple links from a news story. I guess you could say I went down the rabbit hole. And found something more than rabbit poop. Damn I'm fired up!!!!

They didn't come from Gong but were almost certianly influenced by them even if it isn't always sonically obvious. Current Gong frontman Kavus Torabi was in Cardiacs, replacing Jon Poole there on lead guitar for the final lineup before band leader Tim Smith had a heart attack and developed Dystonia.

@@SpuddySpudAs much as al of those things you said about Cardiacs are true it might be the last one that's the pivotal for me. I feel like I'm cracking a puzzle, or opening levels of a complex puzzle box. The solo on the album sounds like it's cut up from loads of different takes, so a little tricky to recreate live ;)

Yeah, lots of backing tracks during this period; I don't think I've seen the Cardiacs use anything other than 'normal' guitar sounds live But that's certainly the only time you can use the term "normal" in reference to the Cardiacs

@LoganPosthumous3 жыл бұрын
It is a backing, after keyboardist Bill D Drake 'left' he's been providing keyboard parts to the band still and his parts are just played as a backing from there on. Thinking about it I'm not sure the parts are fully played by Bill - several people in the band over time can play keys - so it could have been any of them recording it.
