Not a great conversation - Officer was out of order but you have no defence by using the "these are used in Moto GP" line - slick tyres are used in Moto GP but there is a reason they are not used on UK roads. I would say the officer was over zealous and in fairness he probably goes home to suckle on his moms breast milk at the end of the day. I would say it is poor policing but i also understand they want riders to be legal.

Police are given discretion, and as I see it how they apply that discretion is an indicator of their competence. Sadly, many of these people are condescending and not very good at public facing jobs. This particular specimen is nothing more than a tool. He would just about meet the competence requirement to hand out the empty tray for your coat at airport security.

So hang on ,one minute you're having a pop at farmers for not having number plates on trailers. then you say cop should be helping farmers in an advisory way to prevent theft ! . Did the trailer need a number plate ? You didn't say , perhaps they didn't need ,some do some don't . Added to this the plate on the trailer doesn't need to match the tractor towing it ,they do need to be owned by the same person .I'm no fan of the police ,and no fan of people who antagonise them ,you'd have been gone quicker iff you just nodded and said yes or no .hard and all as it is. But I do agree he was ridiculous and that's being polite .
@mattbikes468 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Not having a pop at farmers at all, was simply drawing a comparison. We live in a farming community! Lots of other people have posted comments about the number plate laws on farm vehicle’s and trailers, so they don’t need them on the back subject to certain conditions. This is interesting, even more interesting the policeman didn’t put me right, maybe he doesn’t know the laws on that…he certainly had it wrong about our number plates!

What a cretin that 🐷 is - must be bored in that rural setting, and once you rightly ridiculed him over the tractor/trailer reg plates, he was determined for revenge for pointing out his own failings, and like your speed (or lack of) visors, reg plate, and anything else he dreamt of. As a trained observer? he didn't notice the lack of reg plates? and those of the ones you pointed out as they passed ?? and kept his head down, so if he didn't look, he couldn't see - right ?? I expect he is the only cop in the village🤔🤣 and will be shunned by the locals if he pulled tractors over and ticketed them, so no shopping, fuel, etc.

You’re welcome to your opinion. I know the visor laws clearly. I wasn’t arguing the law, the Policeman was trying to argue the safety point…so the fact MotoGP use the same visors is very relevant. However, I shouldn’t have even entertained the subject as the ACPO guidance is no action to take.
@maximc70897 күн бұрын
@@mattbikes46 Sorry but when you started defending yourself by talking about MotoGp, the cop would be correct in making the assumption that you thought that you usually race up and down roads wearing dark visors. He was a pratt but you gave him ammunition that he could have used against you. I bet that he just wanted to get rid of his boredom by harrassing bikers. My advice is to just play it cool when they stop you, it gets them worried that you know something that they don't want you to, they then soon wind their necks in.

What on a CRF300? Seems rather unlikely don’t you think! The cop made lots of assumptions but am pretty sure that wasn’t one of them. If people actually listened at the start of the video, he hasn't stopped you because you were driving too slow for the roads. He has observed your bikes slowing down which he's perceived that you were slowing down to keep away from the Traffic Officer, which was his reason for stopping you both. This is a common tactic for vehicles involved in criminality or even the smallest traffic violations to for example "not pull up at the lights next to a Police vehicle" or "slow down to allow a Police vehicle to not see their vehicle" You've then been found to have an illegal number plate which is a topic I'm not going to cover but you cant complain when you get caught.

He claimed he thought we were holding back…but that wasn’t true…he was driving way too fast for the type of lane and the conditions so he left us behind!We only had a very fleeting glimpse of him, 20 secs max so assume the same goes for him. So whether that what his reason we’ll never know for sure, but in my view it was a fishing trip. He claimed we had illegal numberplates, but we never heard a thing…I don’t believe he had the law 100% correct. Again we’ll never know what really happened in the background following the stop. Thanks, it makes me chuckle to this day! I did once also get caught pushing a GSXR 750 on the pavement. "Where are you going sir?" Home officer. "Is it your bike sir?" Yep "So why are you pushing it?" Chain snapped officer. "So where is your helmet, gloves and leathers" Fair point officer... I got really hot pushing it so called my girlfriend to take them home in her car. " The bike doesn't appear to be registered to you sir". Only just brought it officer, sent the logbook off couple of days ago. "You can see why this might look a bit suspicious sir". YEP. "Can your girlfriend support what your saying sir"? Well it's 2 am and she'll be mad as he'll that I've woken her up again, but she will bring my documents and receipt of purchase to us if I speak to her nicely. " That would be helpful in this situation sir". "OK, so all checks out, sir, appollogies for waking your girlfriend up at this hour, now how can we help"? "Me (jokingly) help me push this thing to my house it's only at the top of this hill... "No probs sir" Absolute legends, I had 2 police officers pushing my bike up a hill, laughing and joking about the situation. I think they kinda enjoy it. They're not all bad 😅

It's a shame you had an illegal sized number plate, nothing worse than getting pulled over for something ridiculous and then getting nicked for something else. I'm talking from experience by the way... I once had an off duty police officer jump out in the middle of my lane and stop me, I stopped about a foot away from him and he said going a bit fast weren't you, what would you have done if I was a child? My reply, "Sir I would have stopped just like I did then". Not able to argue that point he told me to F off and got out of the road. He obviously needed to settle the score and proceeded to stalk me daily to the point I was issued 14 producers in 2 weeks. I did the right thing and took them to my local police station on the 14th day and proceeded to produce then 1 at a time, showing my documents, signing the form and when asked " is there anything else today sir"? Oh yes sorry, I have another producer from the same officer! 14 times I did this and then the lovely female officer dealing with me said "It's clear what's happing here sir, would you like to make an official complaint against this officer"? YES.... While this was happening, I got stopped for the 15th time by the same officer not for the normal daily routine check, but this time, to warm me that he was one on the board of governors at the college I was attending ( turns out he was but how did he know I was attending said college?). And he could have me removed at a click of his fingers. I replied with OK no problem, we ll speak about this again tomorrow and calmly rode off. The following day I received a phone call from the local police station reading out a statement of appology, and that he he be disciplined for his conduct which was nothing short of harassment. I was given a direct number to his supervisor and told to call him directly if this happens again... All this because an off duty policeman decided to be a hero and jump in front of what he perceived to be a speeding motorcycle. Twist to the story- about 10 years later, I moved into a new house, and guess who was my neighbour? Now, a retired police officer, well known in the community for having a covicted small-time drug dealer as a son, that I was in college with 😅
