Hello there I just found your channel on You Tube and really enjoy it thank you! 😎👍

I just saw a video on the Fourth Place channel about a small light rail line being completed here in Orange County. Part of it uses some of the old Pacific Electric route. I don't know why automobiles and trains have to be so antithetical. What I'd like to see is a parallel track to high speed and light rail out of the metropolitan areas where cars could be put on rail, in much the way automobiles are put on ferries. They could be disembarked at the heads of rural routes. It would relieve some of the freeway congestion as well as the liquid fuel burned.

Can someone please confirm what exact part/region of Mexico this style of -Berto's Mexican food originates from?? ie: Is it Sonoran (they def use Sonoran tortillas, and their food is simple), Sinaloan, TJs, Baja, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Michoacan, Oaxaca, perhaps San Luis Potosí (since they are from there?) or other region? Or, is their food just their take/generalization/summary of what Mexican cuisine should be, or encompasses many diff regions/styles? (it seems more Sonoran to me, because of the focus on simplicity & freshness... irdk, I could be wrong). I'm SoCal raised; so, been eating & loving this style for decades. But, always wondered what the exact region & style this food came from.
@californiography2 күн бұрын
I think it falls into the "their take/generalization/summary" of the different Mexican cuisines that you can find in Southern California along with catering dishes to the local clientele. I personally would say it's "Cal-Mex" food; it's definitely the type of food/restaurant that you typically find here--the combination plate, taquitos, cheesy enchiladas, giant burritos, etc.
@LessTalkMoreDeliciousКүн бұрын
@@californiography…perhaps “SoCal-Mex” or just “-Berto’s style Mex” is better. 🤔🙂 I’ve lived in SF for college in the 00s and had many of their Mexican food around the city (esp. in the Mission). Their food is def diff than -Berto’s style. Still really good; but not as simple (they tend to include everything in burritos, diff accompaniments, diff taste, diff look, diff salsas, rare to have Sonoran tortilla, etc.)

📣 COMPADRE! ...It's AWESOME to see you back on utube. Compa, you came to Santa Rosa Ave (Christmas Tree Lane) in Altadena. You were literally a couple of streets away from my home. 😯 During this time of year, at night, we have to take detours home from the amount of people and traffic (Ugh 🤣🤭). But when you have a chance, come back and check out gravity hill on Loma Alta. It's pretty interesting and sorta spooky how the car can drive it's self back up the hill while in neutral. Welcome to Beautiful Altadena, hope you enjoyed it. I moved here in 1996 from your area, where I grew up. I love it here. 👍

I moved to LA in 2020 and began working at an industrial site in Vernon, not far from where Vernon Ave actually curves and becomes Pacific. I would go down to HP all the time after work for food. I also enjoy smoking cigars and there was a guy in Huntington Park who didn’t just have a tobacco shop, he was like a Nicaraguan guy I think and he imported the tobacco and cured and rolled them in his own shop so all his smokes were his blending, I used to go down to buy from him a lot. Then I moved closer to Norwalk and haven’t been back for awhile I think my wife’s parents lived in HP for a short period of time when they first moved from Mexico in the 80s, but they ended up buying a house in Compton and are still there now.

It's the billboards that impressed me as a kid. I begged my parents to stop there just because of the signs. I somehow imagined Ha-Pea & Pea-Wee were waiting for me there! That sign still makes me smile. Never went as a kid, but did get to visit as an adult in the 1980's. For me, the signs along the way are still the best part of the experience because they remind me of family vacations in the 1960s.

Being Blunt/Forward/Honest with my assessment of this place: While in the area I had to try the “OG SPOT Roberto’s Taco Shop #1.” I purchased the #4 Which was two Beef Crispy Corn Tortillas tacos with rice & beans (Combo plate). The presentation is missleading. The Meal was very Plain Jane, No Flavor Non Seasoned. Could’ve at least had salt & Pepper. Even the Hot Sauces was water down. So I ate here on 28 October 20124 for an early Dinner. Eat at Your Own Risk!
