Found a way to build it. There’s a video that shows 7 different spherical shapes that includes an icosahedron, and I made that but I made the pentagon units the way the following ball shape makes them (soccer ball). From there you leave the single holes open and then layer the triangles onto the non-pentagon faces

I know you don't comment or upload anymore, Mathne. I wonder if some day you'll be back and find Ive built many of your shapes using the 2.5mm compliance magnets. Anyway does Mathne, or anyone still watching these videos see how many sub units there are? I havent made the subunits before, but Ive watched the tutorial, and I know the math on how many magnets are required for various edge lengths of each subunit. I have about 7,000 magnets and am wondering if it would be possible to build this or scale it down and build it. May have to mess with the subunits and see what sizes feel possible to build with the 2.5mm diameter magnets I have.

Amazing build! It is a little flimsy at first, but gets stronger as you go on. I love doing your builds whenever i am bored. Thank you. I just wish you still made videos. You do amazing things.

At the end when he shows how it spins, my jaw dropped so much! That was so unexpected, and I didn’t know magnets could make this happen! Can’t wait to try!

To anyone who has polarity issues, allow me to expand on his ideas. First of all, you never should reverse the direction of the magnet line you use. The polarity doesn’t flip between pieces. At one point, he says to make all four of the tetrahedra with the same polarity in the base, but then later he says to make two with one polarity and two with the other. The first statement is true, and all four should match. Regarding the two and two, here is my suggestion. Build all four exactly the same way as the one he shows, but when it is time to add those two missing edges, wait until all four are ready. Align the magnets as he demonstrates, but pay attention when you get to the second missing edge. The polarity should be reverse compared to the first. What I did is I kept the magnets facing the same direction, even though it didn’t make sense, and it worked fine. If you do this, the polarity difference depends on whether you add three magnets to the left side vertex or the right side. It is possible that you are actually supposed to reverse the line of magnets for two and not for the others, but I haven’t tried this yet. One thing that helped a lot with the assembly step was using a line of magnets to check the polarity of each edge before trying to connect them. You take a line of any size you want and compare it to the three edges that are touching the top corner. There should be two of one polarity and one of the other. Then, make sure the next piece matches each of the connections. In other words, if you were to lay a line across both pieces, it should line up the same way on both sides. After my first attempt at this shape ended in failure, I thought it might be a good idea to clarify for anyone else who may have the same troubles. Hope this helps you if you needed it

All i have is the set of 512 2.5mm set of speks, and i somehow managed to actually make this after lots of trial and error, although there was only enough for like 5 of the rings and even when I finally made it, it was hard to handle it without messing it up cuz of how small it was lol. But still proud of myself cuz its so hard to make it with those tiny balls
