I recall seeing the commercials for Shenmue before I got a Dreamcast. I didn't get a Dreamcast until it was heavily clearanced out at $49.99 at Shopko, here in the Midwest, sometime in late 2001, I think it was. Shenmue, D2, and Phantasy Star Online (with keyboard attachment) were the first games I got.

I was 15 and I was at Epcot, in the Innoventions Pavilion in the year 2000. Sega had an enormous area dedicated in there, and were proudly showcasing some of their new games and also upcoming releases. On a Dreamast there in Walt Disney World is where I first experienced Shenmue, I'd never seen or heard anything like before. This theme has stuck with me for near 25 years...and never fails to get the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end, truly magical

When I was in HS, a friend of mine had decided to sell his Dreamcast. I bought it and of the games he had, Shenmue I blew me away. The story, the music, everything. This series is second only to Final Fantasy VI for me. I managed to beat the game, but then my friend wanted the Dreamcast back. Bastard. Oh well. We've got the HD Remaster of I and II now!

Strang and ironic how the main theme ends in a "pessimistic mood" after being so epic. Almost feels like a musical metaphor for the whole series...

I loved this game so much, I must have played through at least a dozen times. It's an epic game, like being in your own movie. I treasure this experience I had. It felt so authentic with REAL voice acting, quality music, characters you could relate to. And funny / silly.

This song will always move me to tears. Ugh. Such beauty.

I get so emotional hearing this. But whenever I see reaction videos from the E3 announcement I get so emotional over everyone's reaction that I cry with them. Everyone was so happy! When I saw it announced live I had no time to react because my twin brother was a crying mess and I needed to comfort him hahaha. I can't wait. Supposedly this August we will get Shenmue 3.
