Amazing footage, did you sprain your ankle or was it your posterior tibial tendon giving you trouble?

Just finished watching all the videos and loved every bit of them. Gives a great insite into everything the SWCP has to offer. Its definitely on my bucket list gor the near future. Just wondering if you were to do it all again sould you do it the same time of year and in the same direction. 🤔 Tamsin you were legend to keep going where im sure many would have thrown in the towel. Great job the pair of you. 🙂

@@andrewclark7650 thank you good question. Personally I’d like to do it in the spring heading into summer as the days lengthen. It was tough when clocks changed. Not sure I would do it the other way as that Devon bit at the start is pretty tough. Also the ferry’s are more likely to be running in south Devon the closer you are to summer… and close to zero to camp in is not recommended! So spring to early summer would be my preferred choice 😀

@@RobandTamsin thanks for your thoughts on that as it has certainly helped me decide when and which way. It's nice to hear from experienced seasoned adventurer's. 🙂

I keep rewatching these videos! I love them and when we’ve done those sections, we watch again! We’ve got 15 sections to go( we haven’t done them in a particular order- just when we can. Although we’re now determined to finish this year! We live in Devon so easier to do in bits. Are you planning on doing the Camino Way? 😊
@RobandTamsin7 ай бұрын
Thank you for rewatching :) We would love to do the Camino Way. You might have seen we completed Kumano Kodo so are keen to be dual pilgrims. Since completing the Coast Path we got a dog so have been waiting for her to mature so we can take her on longer hikes. Of course she is an adventure dog! We hope to get back to making more videos soon as we are moving to Switzerland at the end of April...

What advice would you give anyone planning on doing the same thing?.
@RobandTamsin11 ай бұрын
Start in the spring so the days are getting longer. Carry less, you can always buy bits along the way. You don’t really need to carry food, if you want to wild camp you need to camp between the recommended stops, if you follow the SWCP recommended stops you will end up in built up areas not really suitable for wild camping. Shelter from storms in historical inns. Don’t rush you want to remember the places separately. 63 days was quick!

Just joined your venture at this point, but will find the start and work my way through it as you have made it enjoyable. Question…….. Do you have to walk across that creek and get your feet wet or is there an alternative so your feet stay dry ? Q2. Do you have to take the ferry across that estuary ? Thanks in advance. Hoping to start my walk next June
@RobandTamsin7 ай бұрын
Depends on the time of year. When we did it in October a lot of the Ferries had stopped so we ended up getting taxis. June should be better for ferries. :) Good luck with your walk!

Really enjoying following your journey especially since i just did this section a few weeks ago and the Perranporth to Portreath 2 weeks ago. Half way along that beach to Perranporth the path actually comes off the beach and heads into the dunes, very easy to miss and after fighting up steep dunes with a full back pack id probably recommend just walking along the beach like you did. I've got Portreath to St.Ives and St.Ives to LandsEnd on monday and tuesday so i'll end the year at Lands End and start the south side next spring. Well done guys

@rob and Tamsin.... Just binge watched the complete walk, really enjoyed it. I always said to myself that if I ever get made redundant, I do this walk before starting a new job. Can I ask... Roughly, how much £££ did it cost please... Start to finish?
@RobandTamsin Жыл бұрын
I have to be honest it wasn't cheap. Campsites were usually £20 a night the cheapest was £5 , However with the weather we did stay in a fair few inns, hotels and airbnbs. These varied in price I think around £70 per night. We also had to buy supplies and meals. Probably around £5000 but it must be possible to do it much cheaper.

This whole series was amazing. Thank you for showing the challenges along the way. I really enjoyed the extra activities, explorations and rest days or just luxury accommodation nights. It gave me much more idea of what might be possible for me, rather than extreme hiking/camping every day which would be out of reach. Well worth experiencing where you are, learning, exploring, and enjoying the trail rather than just counting the miles and hours!

Exactly! It was about experiencing places we know quite well but from the outside. We really enjoyed our stays in inns and local airbnbs. The inns have loads of history covering the walls, it very much helps meeting locals too. Highly recommend so you gain insight into the culture.

Honestly we planned to but if your follow the recommended SWCP itinerary it takes you town to town so less wild camping opportunities. It would be better to offset the towns then camp in the quieter areas. We did end up in inns and airbnb quite a lot.

Very helpful video, i am planning walking lands end to john o groats, but as i would fly into the UK to Bournemouth i was thinking of starting at Poole and extending my walk to include the complete south west path rather than half way along at lands end.
@RobandTamsin2 жыл бұрын
Wow that sounds amazing - I hope you are going to share your fabulous adventure! If you do want to add on the south west Coast Path you will be adding a good 360 miles to your journey. However you will get to collect a whole load of beautiful stamps, a new addition to the Path since we enjoyed it, a stamp rally! The Jurassic coast and South Devon and Cornwall parts of the path are amazing and depending on the time of year your doing it would be something I wouldn't want to miss :) Good luck on your wonderful adventure.

@@RobandTamsin Will let you know when, maybe a few years away when I get closer to retirement as its not easy to take 4+ months off work when self employed. Thank you Andrew for your honest feedback. You know if you fancy bingeing the other 14 episodes you can tell us if we improve, or not 😉 It was our first time trying to document such a long trip and then working out what to include and how to edit it, a very steep learning curve. There are worse episodes - if you want to check out "Lake Biwa Bike Ride I don't think we talk at all! and Sand bath Ibusuki is quite a niche video where we get buried in a shallow hot sand grave and is less than 5 minutes long.
