This whole series was amazing. Thank you for showing the challenges along the way. I really enjoyed the extra activities, explorations and rest days or just luxury accommodation nights. It gave me much more idea of what might be possible for me, rather than extreme hiking/camping every day which would be out of reach. Well worth experiencing where you are, learning, exploring, and enjoying the trail rather than just counting the miles and hours!

Exactly! It was about experiencing places we know quite well but from the outside. We really enjoyed our stays in inns and local airbnbs. The inns have loads of history covering the walls, it very much helps meeting locals too. Highly recommend so you gain insight into the culture.

@RobandTamsin2 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry, glad you enjoyed the SWCP videos. I think we felt quite knackered too when we first set off. The trail gets you fit on a multiday walk. Indeed I do have a special lady. Tamsin was pretty focussed on completing it and we were so pleased the ankle made it through. Trips to physios, rest and sticking on kinesiology tape took it the distance I think. Which part did you walk along?

Congratulations Rob & Tamsin, a fantastic achievement and thank you so much for sharing - I will miss not getting my regular update on your progress. Well done especially to Tamsin with that bad ankle. Many would have given up and I am not sure whether it's bravery or lunacy or a bit of both which propelled you forward. I am supposed to be starting from Poole on Thursday (2nd time) but am pre-injured so I need a bit of what you've got. Good luck with your future adventures - I hope you have plans to share again.
@RobandTamsin2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Highly recommend Kinesiology tape, rest days and maybe getting a medical opinion. The physios I saw told me what to look out for so I could manage my injury. I think FOMO was probably a big motivator and having got so far not wanting to give up. Also constant blind reassurance that i could do it helped a fair bit. We just got our 1975 VW Camper out of storage so hoping to share some of our adventures in that. 😀Good luck with your adventure on the Coast Path may the sun shine on you and the wind always be at your back. 😊 Let us know how you get on. (Rob is pretty keen to have a go at the reverse route) 😳 T😉
@MrBarneymcgrew2 жыл бұрын
@@RobandTamsin thanks for the suggestions - will definitely have a look at kinesiology tape. Not surprised it was measured advice and encouragement that got you through although it can't be done without a bit of bravery and lunacy here and there as you know. Yes so I will be going 'backwards' this time - I can't wait, I'm sure it will be a completely different walk.

@@andrewclark7650 thank you good question. Personally I’d like to do it in the spring heading into summer as the days lengthen. It was tough when clocks changed. Not sure I would do it the other way as that Devon bit at the start is pretty tough. Also the ferry’s are more likely to be running in south Devon the closer you are to summer… and close to zero to camp in is not recommended! So spring to early summer would be my preferred choice 😀

Ok, sorry - they are day 39 and reached Crafthole last night. They are loving it though finding it quite strenuous especially when the rain hits! And in some places quite over grown but crews are here and there fixing bridges and cutting back the growth. They’ve also got hit by stinging nettles a bit. It’s been wonderful to compare walks and see the same spots and even some of the same horses!!! Crazy. What’s next for you guys?

We are planning on having a go at The way of St James - in Spain, as it is a dual Pilgrimage route with the Kumano kodo that we did in Japan. Although we’re now determined to finish this year! We live in Devon so easier to do in bits. Are you planning on doing the Camino Way? 😊
@RobandTamsin7 ай бұрын
Thank you for rewatching :) We would love to do the Camino Way. You might have seen we completed Kumano Kodo so are keen to be dual pilgrims. Since completing the Coast Path we got a dog so have been waiting for her to mature so we can take her on longer hikes. Of course she is an adventure dog! We hope to get back to making more videos soon as we are moving to Switzerland at the end of April...

@rob and Tamsin.... Just binge watched the complete walk, really enjoyed it. I always said to myself that if I ever get made redundant, I do this walk before starting a new job. Can I ask... Roughly, how much £££ did it cost please... Start to finish?
@RobandTamsin Жыл бұрын
I have to be honest it wasn't cheap. Campsites were usually £20 a night the cheapest was £5 , However with the weather we did stay in a fair few inns, hotels and airbnbs. These varied in price I think around £70 per night. We also had to buy supplies and meals. Probably around £5000 but it must be possible to do it much cheaper.

Good for you.. weldone... have just discovered your channel. As me and my wife are just contemplating starting this long distance walk. However, I'm very anxious about how many streams and rivers we will have to cross. Please... what did you do ? Was it very wet and muddy ..
@RobandTamsin2 жыл бұрын
The rivers are mostly on the South Devon bit. There are some that have Ferrys all year round then some that have seasonal ferrys and some that you can cross at low tide. If we got stuck we walked to the river and got a taxi around the river to the otherside. There were streams across the beaches mostly but there was usually a bridge 😉
