Mmmm, indeed it was an attempt at the Guy on the Couch. Guy on the Couch had an actual role. I can't imagine why or who decided to insert John in a cameo where it isn't a cameo bc no one knew who John was. And he actually entertained the idea of a reunion. LOL, as if Kutcher and/or Scott would ever attend such a thing and one that was hosted by SJ. Michael Ray Bower wouldn't even attend.

Well doll, I'm guessing that when you don't have any redeeming qualities such as talent or a desire to improve oneself, one has to play the cards that one was dealt. But John's radiant stupidity combined with his complete lack of shame really makes it obvious that he stumbles (both literally and figuratively) into all opportunities and things. John would LOVE to tell you that he is versatile, a performer, has artistic sensibilities, and is smart. ...he craves a reunion show, for a movie where he plays a hungover creep, with like 15 seconds of on screen time, 8 seconds is just him pissing on a plant... twice. He doesn't get how ANYTHING works. It's a wonder he is still alive.

This cartoon was likely started by Friz Freleng, based on an earlier, better cartoon starring Sylvester and an unnamed mouse (“Canned Feud”, 1951). As with nearly all of the DePatie/Freleng cartoon series, Friz directed the first few and then handed the reins to someone else (Hawley Pratt directed a bunch of Pink Panther shorts, Gerry Chiniquy seemed to be the go-to for “Ant and the Aardvark”). McKimson would be the exclusive director of the Daffy/Speedy series until Warners dropped DePatie-Freleng in favor of their own in-house Seven Arts studio. For all the hate this series gets, there are some funny entries, and this is one of them. There’s a motivation for Daffy to be mean to Speedy: He has a box of canned food, but no can opener, and he absolutely refuses to share…because he’s Daffy Duck, and he’s greedy.

I can guarantee, after briefly having worked for him, a rant by me about him (his real name is Ed) NOW would be even more epic. Guy's a raging narcissist with mommy issues and an addiction to benzos... good luck trying to have a coherent conversation (let alone argument which was more frequent) with him. Fuck you, Ed. You ranting, raving, babbling pill popper! I'm GLAD everyone at 8thMan bought you out and then sued the shit out of you. You deserve it. Your mother? She doesn't, but then again, she made you the way you are, so fuck her too I guess. And stop asking me for Jerry Beck's contact info, he's wise to you too. We all are. You make the shittiest versions of these cartoons available, you tell everyone they're restorations, they're not (they're crappy versions you found online somewhere and you stretched them out and slapped a really big watermark on them) and then you wonder why everyone hates you. I guess if he's done anything positive, it's the fact that the LT fan community and WB are often at odds with one another, yet if it's one person both WB and the LT community hate equally? It's him. Again I say it... fuck you, Ed. You got what you deserve and good riddance. - trevor.

Was this restoration made before they thought "Hmm, you know what I think we should not put the shorts with Speedy in HBO max"?
@TheLooneyTunesCritic
@TheLooneyTunesCritic Ай бұрын
They did all the restorations at once. It would be way more expensive to only restore the ones you wanted to have on the platform, esp. since at the time, the plan was to have all the cartoons on Max. But setting everything up that you need to do restorations only to have to do it each and every time with a single title or batch of titles is way more cost prohibitive. Also you're assuming that even though HBO did pay for the restorations that the platform was their only reason to restore them. While super specific blu rays from Warner Archives wasn't necessarily on the horizon, they knew that the physical releases were far from dead.

lol the Dover Boys was a parody of the “Rover Boys” a popular set of American adventure books published from the end of the 19th-Century into the early 20th with strong Victorian values 😂 Although you guys weren’t wrong to mention the Hardy Boys! The Hardy Boys borrowed a lot from the later editions of the Rover Boys in which they set the tone of adolescent aged youths independently solving the mysteries and strange happenings in their town Cedarville, military boarding school Putnam Hall, or college; Brill College. They also had the same romantic love interests from a fellow wealthy family that would reoccur throughout the books. Also fun fact, besides the fact both series books were from the SAME company, the “Stratemeyer Syndicate”, many libraries REFUSED for decades to carry any of these books believing they led to rebellious spirits against authority, and that series books in general were lazily written because they were so formulaic and would lead to a sort of intellectual stupor ‘dumbing down’ the kids. Some things never change 🙄
