Ironically, Daffy Duck and The Road Runner shared a comic book called "Daffy Duck and The Road Runner", where Daffy would help stop the coyote from catching the Road Runner (kinda like Sam Sheepdog).

I've seen this short once, and thought it was just meh. I mean Mel is giving it his all, but the quality ain't there anymore. Seven arts was basically the discovery merger of the late 60s
@AndrewsMagicandMore3 ай бұрын
However this short was produced when Depatie-Freleng were outsourcing the series; Warners didn't produce any of the shorts in-house until after the Seven Arts merger while D-F was out of the picture.

This is not the seven arts era (1967 - 1969), it's the DePatie-Freleng era (1964 - 1967)

This cartoon was likely started by Friz Freleng, based on an earlier, better cartoon starring Sylvester and an unnamed mouse (“Canned Feud”, 1951). As with nearly all of the DePatie/Freleng cartoon series, Friz directed the first few and then handed the reins to someone else (Hawley Pratt directed a bunch of Pink Panther shorts, Gerry Chiniquy seemed to be the go-to for “Ant and the Aardvark”). McKimson would be the exclusive director of the Daffy/Speedy series until Warners dropped DePatie-Freleng in favor of their own in-house Seven Arts studio. For all the hate this series gets, there are some funny entries, and this is one of them. There’s a motivation for Daffy to be mean to Speedy: He has a box of canned food, but no can opener, and he absolutely refuses to share…because he’s Daffy Duck, and he’s greedy.
@josephadorno923 күн бұрын
It also allowed McKimson to continue his preference of eschewing traditional cat-chasing-a-mouse cartoons by pairing Daffy with Speedy.

I'm surprised no part of this was used for Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island.

Was this restoration made before they thought "Hmm, you know what I think we should not put the shorts with Speedy in HBO max"?
@TheLooneyTunesCritic2 ай бұрын
They did all the restorations at once. It would be way more expensive to only restore the ones you wanted to have on the platform, esp. since at the time, the plan was to have all the cartoons on Max. But setting everything up that you need to do restorations only to have to do it each and every time with a single title or batch of titles is way more cost prohibitive. Also you're assuming that even though HBO did pay for the restorations that the platform was their only reason to restore them. While super specific blu rays from Warner Archives wasn't necessarily on the horizon, they knew that the physical releases were far from dead.
