For your information. In the OG japanese version she asks: "Have we really lost to a memory?" which is WAY more brutal than "Which is it? A memory or us?". Because she knows that, at that point, Cloud cares more about a dead person than his new family. Which also makes Aerith angry as well, since she constantly tells him to move on and live his life. But Cloud cant do it until the very end, where he finally gets his proper farewell with Aerith and Zack.

“A memory or us..?” I think the worst part about this is that Tifa had to ask if she was important to Cloud when he was the one who abandoned her & she doesn’t deserve this. You can just imagine how painful it is for her to be alone with those confusing thoughts & futile questions because he didn’t bother to show anything about how he feels & chose the worst option possible by shutting her out like she isn’t worth the energy, space or trust despite her always being the one there for him like he just took her for granted. Cloud really is a jerk for this. He really f**ked up.

I find it so sad how people are quick to say Cloud is « emo » in the movie when it’s clear that he’s depressed and feel extreme guilt over the past. If his character was a girl, I bet the critics would be so much less intense. It just goes to show how society expects men to never be vulnerable. I think that’s what makes his character so great, that vulnerability and realism. Because if I was in his place, I would feel the same.

@prime8plays8709 ай бұрын
No, but there is a bigger threat, and Cloud more than anybody understands how people were tools for Shinra. Also, Remake does a good job at illuminating their position Rude: What are we going to do about Sector 7? Tseng: (sighs) "We" are going to do nothing. Rude: Been thinking. Was all that necessary? Tseng: Had we refused, someone else would've completed the task. We have spared that someone the burden of a guilty conscience. Perhaps that will ease yours. Reno: Yeah...nope. Tseng: Let's try another tack then. They were a sacrifice to balance the scales. Reno: Say what? Tseng: After everything we've taken from the planet, we were due to give something back. Rude: Do you actually believe that? Tseng: Does it matter?

And yet, he didn't fully forgave himself here. It wasn't until Aerith spoke to him later... It blows my mind how people think Cloud and Tifa are a unironically couple. Cool, they live together... IN THEIR OWN ROOMS! Cloud is barely there and if he isn't working, he's in Aeriths Church. If anything, this scene just proves that a relationship between the two can't even work! I mean, watch it and tell me that there is no imbalance between the two! Tifa may love him but that clearly doesn't go the other way around.

@@bugsbasti here a quote from Nomura Dorimaga ,“For example, I was frequently asked if there had been romantic relationship between Tifa and Cloud for two years, after Final Fantasy VII ended, but I don’t have any clue.” -Nomura; Dorimaga interview; published at Flaregamer; Square Enix We also know Cloud and Tifa are going through serious problems that prevented them from being in a relationship. Final Fantasy VII creator Nojima speaks of a premise that things "won’t go well" between Cloud and Tifa: "Episode Tifa" [Case of Tifa] - first off, there’s the premise that things won’t go well between Tifa and Cloud, and that even without Geostigma or Sephiroth this might be the same." -Nojima; “On the Way to a Smile” interview; Square Enix

There is a hold bunch of stuff in the books after dirge of Cerberus game. I can give you some words to search so you can look at it at a tumblr blog . Type this is google (Dispelling the MYTH Cloud and Tifa are in a relationship post-Final Fantasy VII) A tumblr blog will pop up. On that tumblr page is like quotes from Square Enix interviews, and quotes from books , it even give what book, chapter and page number. Their is also another site i went to that had the actual Japanese side by side with the pages so people cant say its all lies. the site name is this (cloudxaeris) , that gives chapters , books, and pages of how much cloud misses aerisu and how he loves her and that lovey dovey stuff.

"DERP, Advent Children is so bad it made Cloud an EMO". The dude failed to achieve his dream of becoming a SOLDIER, his best friend died trying to protect him, he found out his chilhood hero is a monster who destroyed everything he loved, he saved the world but lost a great friend along the way, and after all that, he gets the equivalent of cancer in his world, without any sign of cure around. No wonder he just gave up on living, until Tifa shake things up in order to wake him up and saves him. Again. Sorry kiddos, but such is life. There's no happily ever after, and sometimes life hits you so hard you can't just Rambo the shit out of it, everything just loses meaning. Even a genuine romantic relationship is not just hearts and giggles, but has many layers of complexity, just like this scene shows. If anything, Advent Children is an essay on trauma and depression. And if you can't relate to that and dismiss it just as being "emo", consider yourself lucky, because life didn't hit you hard enough yet so you could actually get it. This movie is so well done and much more mature than you would expect from a videogame product, really bold move from S-E. By the way, I still wonder what they were going for with the "real family" line. Maybe some drama around Tifa not being able to have kids or them not getting in fact married? That's some really complex stuff that only older people could relate to. Great visuals to this day, with some mature drama and outstanding action scenes. Such a great movie.
