Finally!!!! After years of tinkering and trying to fix. YEARS!!!! Chevy inline sixes have the same egr stuff. I just used some socket cap bolts ground down, put them in, and capped with plugs.

This guy's video is right-on. Last night I spent over an hour trying to install the driver's side Grabar on my 2018 JK. I followed all the directions and chased the threads of the pillar nuts but the Grabar bolts just wouldn't line up. Many installation videos recommend cutting 1/4" off the long, horizontal, bushings. I trimmed the bushings today and was able to complete the installation in minutes. Nice accessory, very sturdy but installation without the bushing modification was a major pain in the butt. No problems with sun visor clearance.

I had no problem installing my Grabar yesterday. I had more issue with the Wild Boar that I bought earlier and this Grabar is much better in quality.

I had the same problem. A 10 minute install of the driver side turned into a 2 hour less than satisfactory install. I followed the instructions to the letter. Even did the WD40 thing to remove any loctite. All went well until trying to screw in the horizontal (lower) bolt. Due to the angle, I could not get the bolt to go in like it did with the WD40 trial. Finally got a few threads to go in firmly then had to really tighten the bolt hard to take up the play and stop it from being loose. In spite of all this, the bolt head would not fit into the countersink hole due to the offset, so it sticks out. The bar is firm, however, and I can rock the chasis with it, but the bolt head sticking out is ugly and looks amateurish. I do not have access to a tool to cut steel. So I am screwed too. Will work on the passenger bar tomorrow. I see below where the company responded and admitted that this could happen in a small number of 2016 Jeep JKs. Mine is clearly one of them. You video was helpful for a solution and to make me feel that it was not my fault. Thanks.

Thanks for posting this video. Struggled for a long time before turning to KZbin for help. Chucked up the long lower horizontal spacers in the lathe and turned off .250", bolted right in! 2017 Rubicon Unlimited Hard Rock. Thanks Again!

Luis Castro Both of the sunken holes on my Wild Boars are facing towards the right. Is that how yours arrived also?

Luis Castro , Guess there is a dumb ass in every crowd ! I also have the Wild Boars and a nine year old kid could have put them in !! I’m just wandering why he took off the trim to do a ten minute job !! As I said , I guess there is one in every crowd !😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

I had no issues installing mine. Trick is to use the shorter bolts vertically and the longer bolts horizontally AND not tighten the vertical bolt fully until you get the horizontal bolt going. After that, alternate tightening both bolts until both are completely tightened down.

Excellent point. Plus add some good lube such as Triflon to the threads then start the bolts first to be sure they will catch smoothly - remove and then install the bars. (2016 JKU-Hard Rock)

Wish I had seen this yesterday!! I just had one hell of a time installing the front bars today on my 2016. The rear bars took maybe 10 minutes tops. I DID NOT cut or grind down the spacers and somehow managed to FINALLY get both bolts started and then just cranked them down evenly. I think most people would have given up and returned them for a refund, but I was determined to get them on without having to modify a "bolt on" product. In the end... I think these are a great product once installed. American made and the wife approves! Just keep in mind this 20 minute install may just take you HOURS to complete if you own a 2016.

In our experience, this is a very rare instance. We sell thousands of GraBars - including to many 2016 owners. A tiny percentage of GraBars have issues during the install - far less than one percent even. Of the teeny tiny number of installs which have an issue, the vast majority of those end up being a nut welded by Jeep at the wrong angle. GraBars are solid steel machined to tight tolerances with no flex or play - the bolt can only come out at 90˚ and if the nut doesn't line up, you would have fitment issues. We can count on our fingers the number of install issues that have been due to a manufacturing defect on our end. In fact, that kind of quality and consistency is one of the main reasons we choose to be (and always will be) American made. In cases where it has been an issue with the GraBars themselves, we happily send replacements after verifying. We really do value all of our customers and are extremely proud of our GraBars. There is an engineer on staff and we are frequently working to improve our products. Be rest assured, though, we do appreciate feedback like this. If we were to have a "bad run" of product we would absolutely want to know about it and do everything in our power to make it right with our customers.

Guys, thanks for posting glad to have the feedback. James do you mind telling what your rig is? Cheers

Before I installed mine, I thought this video was a bit overboard. Not so much, now that I've tried it. This is the preferred method. You are either going to strip the body nuts or bend the provided bolts. Neither of which is a good idea. Very poor design to not improve on these measurements for better installation. Grabars must not have any engineers on staff to design this stuff. I expected a better fitment for the price than something designed by a couple of backyard hacks.

I'm glad I watched this. Had same issue on 2014 JKU Rubi. Only struggled a few times before the grinder came out. Just hope the bolts on those two aren't too long, but it sure helped getting the top ones line up. Thanks for the vid! Welcome Distributing take note.

That's why my 345 does that. I have a 304 truck that somebody just cut the air tubes and blazed them shut, it does not whistle
@affirmativehouston11 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't note that. I don't have one in my hand but I made mine quite a bit longer than the stock thread. I think the stock thread is about 1/2" long and it's head sits flush with the block. If you go 3/4" or more, you should be fine. If you look close, there is plenty of thread showing after mine is seated. I think I did 3/4".
