We were never required to have a lab coat for anatomy. For us it’s not necessary. Just a pair of Walmart/crappy scrubs and shoes was enough. Also, you forgot to mention Lunchbox as a maybe or must have but typically a must have. I know there are some days that we go 9-5 and pack our lunches since we only get hour lunches if there wasn’t something going on.
@oreofeoladapoАй бұрын
Thanks for adding! Yeah at my school the lab coat isn’t a hard requirement for anatomy lab but it’s safe to say 90% of people wore one over their scrubs. And the lunch box is true! I didn’t think of it because I almost always buy food there or eat at home💀or starve😭

The real exam is pass/fail, but the practice exams still give scores (UWorld gives a three numbered score, the NBME’s give an estimated % correct, and there are calculators online to convert to an estimated 3 digit score)

It’s less about what school you went to but more about what opportunities you take and what opportunities you create. There’s so much more to who you are as a person and an applicant, so don’t let something you can’t control discourage you from putting in the efforts to do what your heart sets out to do. I doubt many programs look at an application and go “he/she went to xyz high school, NEXT”💀but obviously resources may come into play so if there’s something your school doesn’t offer seek the opportunities elsewhere (i.e. community programs, online resources, cold emailing, etc)

@Beck-Stein3 ай бұрын
@@oreofeoladapo cool thanks. My cousin looked into howard. Man, they make you jump through hoops even after acceptance as entry into med school is no guarantee. It’s like applying as a regular student.
@oreofeoladapo3 ай бұрын
@@Beck-Stein I definitely feel what you’re saying lol. they largely hold us to a similar standard as other applicants, but when choosing a program it’s a matter of what you value. Howard bs/md has the edge on almost every other program (except just umkc i think) in that it’s a 6 year program, (plus your undergrad scholarship extends into the first 3 years of med school) which helps save a LOT of money and time. Also the fact that you don’t have to apply to multiple med schools saves money and energy. As someone whose main reason for bs/md over regular track was finances and time saved by taking less unnecessary courses, howard was my dream program (also howard was my dream school bs/md aside). But if your cousin or anyone else prefers to maximize the ease of the process (i.e. completely avoiding mcat), there are programs that offer that too. But apply broadly because all of these bs/md and early acceptance programs are competitive as hell lol
@Beck-Stein3 ай бұрын
@@oreofeoladapo competive as hell is right. He is stressing over everything as there is little margin for error. So if you do a six year program you don’t get a bachelor’s degree? Which is useless going on to med school i guess. That’s a lot of money saved. I didn’t look at it that way.
@oreofeoladapo3 ай бұрын
@@Beck-Stein in my program you do 2 years of actual undergrad coursework (about 90 credits), take/pass the MCAT, then start med school. You do receive your bachelors at the end of your second year of med school (so after 4 years in the program), you just don’t need all 120 credits to obtain it

I am happy for you that you doing well and enjoyed your videos on USMLE. Having said that I felt so sick to my stomach when you said " christian yoga"? You have to choose who you want to worship, not both. Light has nothing to do with darkness, the God in the bible has no place for the teaching of other religions. You don`t need scientific journals to find out everything about yoga, Wikipedia has all the information you need, it will tell you where it came from. So the choice is yours, either to repent and go back to the God who created heaven and earth who has your soul/life in his hands OR worshiping idols and their teachings originated in Asia, NOT both.

@oreofeoladapo4 ай бұрын
If you’re not at a school that has time constraints for when to take it, it honestly depends on how you’re doing on NBME’s in your opinion. If you’re not currently passing, i’d give myself at least 1-1.5 months to work towards a passing score. But the registration process can take a while in itself. I registered before i even started dedicated studying and worked towards my test date.
