No antenna coming out of his head, most likely shrapnel from the bomb explosion. No wake up from being programed, no conspiracy. It's not that deep, this is simply about a WW 1 soldier coming back from war with his legs, arms and face blown off but still alive by hospital machines.

Should watch the Howard stern video where they play this live in studio. James explained why he wrote it remembering how he felt like “one” after his mom died

Doesn’t really have anything to do with programming or head antennas lol it’s about the horrors of war, the soldier you follow from the beginning as a child gets blown up and loses his limbs, the flash and shrapnel has destroyed his face so he can’t see, hear, or speak as well! The “antenna” were sutures holding the mask covering his destroyed face partly so others aren’t disturbed by the sight and partly to help with infection during healing! It’s a hellish existence however and he uses his head nodding morse code trying to end his suffering! Metallica songs are deep try Master Of Puppets😈

James (the singer) watched this movie(Johnny got his gun) on a tour bus. Wrote the song. Then bought the rights to the movie to use on the video. If you believe what you read on the internet. Lol.

Reactions are about expanding horizons in music, but this is horrible to me. I liked your reaction. Glad you like it. This is so boring. It almost starts to turn into something there at the end. To me this was a concept that never really became a song.

I remember that large portions of In Rainbows is about coming to terms with your own mortality "it comes for us all, it's as soft as your pillow" for what it's worth. This is one of the finest produced albums ever made in my opinion and in a number of ways I consider it Radiohead's best album. The b-sides from this period are also fantastic. A lot of casual fans don't realize how many great non-album tracks Radiohead has, I think their non-album tracks are better than a whole lot of popular bands regular album tracks.

With Radiohead it's not the frequent use of odd time sigs that I find interesting, it's how it blends in with the song so well that I don't even notice it half the time. They have a gift for making unconventional music accessible.

The singer/ lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, was part of the original line-up of Metallica, later he got kicked out of the band, formed Megadeth and the rest is history for all of us to appreciate. As Metallica, they are still touring and releasing new albums, but Metallica has changed its style over the years as Megadeth still remained true to its origins as a Thrash Metal band, and Dave is on it´s 60´s...shout out to that! 🤘

Seattle 89 was the perfect show because to me it was the perfect blend of talent, rage, grief, booze and a tiny bit of Peruvian marching power between Kirk and Lars. Can’t blame them …. Cliffs death damn near, broke them…
