This was a great video. I had never considered using video to supplement photography. It’s only natural, though. I’m currently researching macro lenses for my canon. Should be a fun summer.

For some reason, I have the sigma 16mm, but I have a vigilante around my lens whenever I try and turn the steady shot off to make it wider. Do you know maybe a fix ?

Is this really a video trying to convince an audience that the lens which costs $12,000 more is - wait for it - a better lens? Wow, shocker.

I do not agree that the Sony 90mm is the best macro lens ! The OSS of the Sony 90mm only gives 0.5 EV-stop at 1:1, so the stabilizer system in the lens only makes the lens more vulnerable ! "Real" macro isn NOT only 1:1 !!! I can highly recommend Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0 and 110mm 2.5 !

Zero chance I’m lugging around a 600 f/4. The 200-600 is a great lens all things considered including my back. I’m also not a fan of blowing out every background. I want to see the animal in its environment. I would like the Sony 300 f2.8 + 1.4x TC.

An honest review. Go prime if a pro. But if a hobbyist the 200-600mm is awesome and easier to carry around. One thing about the teleconverters a 1.4X is not really ever used because you learn that just going APS-C you get 1.5X and yes a smaller frame image but you will also use cropping a lot so the the use of upsizing you will you a lot anyway. The 2x also will get you 1800mm is using also 2x + APS-C. A thought on birds in flight you will be zoomed out to see and capture but while tracking you will zoom in and all of just a few seconds pass a prime you will not fine the bird before it gets away.

The lens looks really great. Still even with a 70% discount it still can be very pricey. The blurry background is pretty cool. Gives lots of options. Thanks for the sweet unboxing. Take care and wish you a Merry Christmas, Brian G Johnson. 🎁🎄☃️❤️

I have both lenses the 600f4 is simply not a good lens if you do a lot of small forest bird photography especially if you like to walk when you bird. If you prefer large birds in open habitats while staying hunkered down in the same spot get the 600f4. It is simply not practical to walk around with the f4 on a tripod or even hand holding. Small birds are always jumping around unless there is a feeder. I basically don’t bother photograph warblers (or small birds in forests) at all anymore with my 600f4 and mostly use it for waterfowl/ bigger birds in open habitats. I like to wait near a natural food or water source to get good behavior shots without moving too much. -joakospamerwildlife

Sony 200-600 make me sad about that chromatic aberration on the edge of subject...
@h.n.40603 ай бұрын
I agree with you about 12 mp being enough. I've never encountered a problem because of it, and it's more forgiving for even cheap lenses. My Sony a7sI screen died, and I really want to replace it with something like this, but the lack of a viewfinder really kills it for me. I do most of my photography in the desert, so during the day using the screen is very hard, even with focus peaking like you showed. But the other issue is night photography, the light of the screen will attract bugs from miles away, or might disturb other night time photographers (specifically for astrophotographers). It's frustrating because I know it would have probably increased the price a little, but not as much when compared to the already high price. Including a viewfinder should have been mandatory because even without the some extra dials to make still photography easier, this would have been close to the perfect nighttime / low light camera, and instead it has a "bigger microphone" that almost no one uses.

The A7RV is better........not as fast on the electronic shutter but better overall image quality. Not to mention the autofocus is unbeatable.
@JeanV1986Ай бұрын
It's a completely different beast. Its electronic shutter takes 1/10th of a second to read the frame, compared to 1/250th of a second for the A1. IQ is very similar to be honest, the differences are marginal at best. And while it does have some smart tricks helping the autofocus recognizing the subject, it cannot compete with the 120 calculations per second for the A1 autofocus, with only 20 calculations per seconds. Not the mention the blackout-free EVF on the A1 for following the action.

Nice sharing. Which settings do you use to film at night?
@BrianGJohnsonPhotography4 ай бұрын
It really depends what I’m filming if it’s a subject and a scene with not a lot of movement I would reduce my shutter speed quite a bit, which is a no no, but if you need a good low light, you need to gather light someway. Reducing the shutter speed can help there’s not a whole Lotta options really. Start off by learning the basics of camera settings and use a third-party app so you can change the settings. Black magic camera app. Or moment camera app

I had the Laowa, it broke 10 months in with VERY little studio only use. Trying to get warranty work was impossible, I gave up. I bought a few others, adapted and native, ended up with the Sony and stuck with it. The 90G is by far the best because it has stabilisation that works better than using IBIS only, it works with the focus stacking in some Sony bodies, it has AF and it produced better images than all other options I tried (a half dozen of them). I think it's built better also. Great value lens.
