Nun chucks are just garbage, bro. Why would anyone use these over a sword, an axe, a mace, a club, or even just a stick? And yes, i would approach your twirly stick, and as soon as it makes contact with my arm, its gonna stop twirling, and you're getting wrecked. Such a bad weapon 😂

I agree. Nunchucks are extremely fast and unpredictable, and can cause heavy damage with one flick of the wrist. Sticks can’t really do that.

Just assume your mistake bro, nunchucks are trash. And yes you said that the centripical force somehow makes the weapons more powerful. You are literary changing what you said to make it seems like you did not said wrong stuff.

I watched at least a couple of Shadiversity's videos and he never even mentioned that the nunchaku gets it speed from the fact that it coils open like a whip. He talked a lot about the effect of mass of the moving particle on the kinetic energy, but failed to mention that the velocity is a more important aspect, since kinetic energy depends on the velocity squared. The dude doesn't understand that basic mechanics of the weapon. It's not exactly like the whip, though, since whip also gets it power from the elastic material that stores some of the energy momentarily and it's tapered shape. I would compare a nuchaku to a hammer. Everybody who's ever used a hammer, knows that you're supposed to hit it with a relaxed wrist, so that the hammer can swing more freely and the wrist acts as the fulcrum of rotation - just like the chain or rope acts as the fulcrum in a nunchaku. And even his technique with the stick seemed weird. Sure, you can probably add some force to the hit by pushing the stick through the object you're hitting with all your strength, but that adds a negligible amount of force since it's very mechanically inefficient to try to push anything with the head of a stick unless you're using it like a spear. I'd say that the same applies to sticks as to hammers: it needs to be used with a fairly relaxed wrist so that it can swing as fast as possible.

Shad has a massive bias towards European weapons and almost always has negative things to say about any other weapons from around the world, especially Asian weapons. a lot of the weapons he deems bad almost always come down to user error and not knowing how to use said weapons or even what the weapon was originally used for. He treats every weapon as if they were all used to be taken into war such as Nunchuck or Shuriken and if they fail to be useful in that type if situation he says they suck. he also SEVERALY underestimates what proper training for these weapons do. No offense to him but he's not a skilled and physically fit fighter like the ones who would use all these weapons. these fighters and warriors would train day and night, they weren't some random dudes swinging sticks in their backyard like Shad does.

(I watch Shad mostly for Tyranth but feel free to attack that instead of the argument) Argument no.1 If i remember correctly Shad did some basic moves and strikes with nunchaku but the part you have shown was focused purely on most power putting all his weight into it(those werent meant to show technique) and used it to brush off his argument of power. Arg. no. 2 As much as i would love it, martial arts are not magic and are bound by physics, you have shown a graph of the physics behind nunchaku strike, which you are now rejecting by saying "I am not a physicist". Arg. no. 3 Your "fight" against a knife first of all disregards the "weapon of equal size and weight", untrained person with small knife(kitchen knife is bigger then that) against trained person with wepon of greater reach, also your opponent didnt try to tank the hit to get to you So far you didnt try to argue a single point honestly There were full clips of you talking about nunchaku as "deciding what is good or bad weapon" not just "self defense tool for trained" thats probably why shad compared them to "weapons".

If you want to clear any misunderstanding just answer these in max 10 min video(2 questions, 6 topics, 10min, intro/outro, no shad, ideally sources as links under video) : 1. "What is the use for nunchaku you meant, if not a weapon?" 2. (If nunchaku are in your opinion for any self defensive purpous )"How does nunchaku compare to "stick of equal weight and size"(max force it can do in one hit, speed, reach, defense capibility, average training time for semi effective use in what ever you meant to use them as)

I studied Shotokan karate for many years when I was younger and never once were we told this is how it's taught and trained (with the wide/low stances) but don't try to apply it like this on the street. Now I'm older that seems obvious, but back then it was easy to assume you apply it how it's taught. I don't want to diss the style but how the attacks play out in the various katas are completely unrealistic and hence most time spent learning the various kata is just a waste. I've never been a fan of the blocking system used in Shotokan either, especially the rising head block used to deflect a straight punch thrown at the face/head. I know of numerous instances of Shotokan black belts who spent 4 years punching and kicking air in the dojo only to then get their ass kicked when they tried to use what they'd been taught when attacked by a thug on the street who had never trained! The other issue is never getting properly hit in the face so when it occurs for the first time on the street it shocks the victim and they simply freeze up. When compared to a style like boxing or Muay Tai where you're getting smacked in the face repeatedly and therefore get used to it there's simply no comparison. Another issue is never being told about and learning to deal with the heavy adrenaline dump that always occurs during any confrontation. If this isn't recognised for what it is and learned to be dealt with and harnessed correctly, most will mistake it for fear and simply fall to pieces. It's purpose is to help you at the end of the day by making you temporarily faster and stronger whilst also helping you deal with any physical pain, but if you haven't learned to recognise and deal with it it's pointless. I'm not saying the style is completely worthless or can't be adapted to work on the street but just that it needs to be taught in a less traditional way and needs more hard sparring involved just like you'd get in a traditional boxing gym. Just some thoughts for anyone thinking of taking karate for defence to consider...

Piss poor self defense weapon ill pick something safer and more reliable not worth all that training too because almost everyone without training can use a short staff or metal bar that's common in vehicles no flashy moves and no training with some effectiveness over a specialized weapon that died out of history If nun chucks can be picked up and used well enough by people that never seen em used i may as well say throwing knives are a no skill weapon too thats easy to stick

I’ve trained martial arts and used nunchucks for a while but personally I would rather a bo staff in a street fight over nunchucks only because no matter your skill with them you have a chance off messing up or doing something wrong which could potentially end bad for the user of the weapon. I don’t agree with shad fully because the nunchucks are an amazing weapon if used correctly but there is more chance of you messing up with nunchucks than a bo staff I know I’m late to this but I have been thinking an taking to friends about the practicality of the nunchuck and it’s a mixed opinion but more side with bo staff

I think the reason why ppl think nunchucks are bad, is because the hype behind it. It’s so overrated that even I started to realize how bad it actually is. But I’m not saying it’s bad but the hype made me think it is. It’s still a good weapon, but not the best. Try fighting a guy with a big blade and you’ll prob lose. A knife could be easier to fight since you can hit their wrists to disarm them. But that’s the thing with every weapon, guns, tasers, overall whip could do enough.

What's your opinion on soft, training nunchuks? Can you properly train with them before you move to real ones? Nice video btw.
@milanifitnessofficial6 ай бұрын
@@crativplaying9827 depends on your age, if you’re below the age of 15 it is recommended to train with soft chucks. 16 and above wooden or aluminum is recommended as you should be a competent enough human to handle them without getting hurt. Anytime you spend using foam will slow down your progress once you make the switch as the feel is exponentially different. Basically the quicker you can use harder ones, the better.

You know after this video and learning nunchaku I have gotten a love for a lot of Chinese and Kung Fu weapons, or mainly the martial arts ones. Tonfa seemed weird at first but now I realize how insane they are, someone with plenty training and experience would be really hard to fight. I mean his punches or attacks with tonfa would hurt 5x and if they block your punched that will hurt, nevermind if they block your kick ow my shins 😭😭 funny thing is police had Tonfas but they don't know how to use them 😂 Question man: How does Red Oak Tonfa differ from other wood, or the police tonfa which is made of plastic or some ish?

I've Japanese-American, and I learned how to use the nunchaku when I was stationed in Okinawa at Camp Hansen, Okinawa. The nunchaku is fun to use for exercise and also to use for kobu-jutsu (weapons art) kata in martial arts tournaments. However, the nunchaku is not a good self-defense weapon because there are far better weapons which allows you to strike an attacker while being out of range for a counter-attack. This, of course, includes a firearm. It also includes an improvised weapon, like a mop handle. A nunchaku is better than no weapon at all. However, if you have the opportunity to choose a self-defense weapon, it is far more reasonable to use a weapon with longer extension, which includes a bariatric cane, which is legal to walk in public with. It also includes law enforcement-grade pepper spray, which also has its disadvantages. For instance, after spraying someone with law enforcement-grade pepper spray, you are still supposed to orbit away from your attacker so your attacker doesn't charge you where he last saw you and ground and pound you.
