I met Shirley in the 80's at Atlanta Dragway. I was racing a Super Street car. I was walking through the pits with my daughter. When we got to Shirley's trailer my daughter asked if she could pet Shirley's dogs. Shirley opened the little doggy gate and let my daughter in. The dogs loved my daughter. As we were leaving for me to race, Shirley offered to watch my daughter when I raced. In exchange she asked if my daughter could watch the dogs when she raced. It was like that all day. A few years later we moved to California, I kept racing and at Pomona Raceway we went to see Shirley in the pits. When Shirley saw my daughter she yelled my daughter's name and thru hers arms up to hug her. My daughter went from a little girl to a young lady that day because, Shirley Muldowney remembered her. Shirley's kindness, grace and beautiful presence I will never forget.
