And let's not sneeze at the fact that with his name on the side of the car, the first Pro Stock Win comes against "Tricky" Ricky Smith, with STP Money and Backing!!! This is why I love drag racing back then. The low buck Guy truly had a chance to beat the big time guys. Aside from this case in point, Shirley Mulldowney, Darrell Gwynn, Joe Amato before Valvoline took notice we're all a thorn in the side of Don Garlits. And let's also not forget that PRIOR to the Castrol GTX deal. John "Brute" Force, was the ultimate low-buck guy who stole the show every single time out... He often said it himself "If you can't win the race, find a way to steal the show". Of course this often meant being on fire 🔥 or Upsidedown Lmao 😂 Sure am going to miss him...
