You really need to react to idol explained by a Korean. Sometimes like you guys mentioned earlier, yall miss stuff because of the lack of cultural context. This track was in direct response to people saying they were focused too much on the western market. It’s both global and Korean as fuck. It came out in 2018 which is around the same time they hit #1 on BB for the first time and getting hit up by these big us artists for collabs.

"Jinx" is actually Felix. Hes not the leader but hes usually in the front where we can see his face because hes most literary THE FACE of stray kids.

9 months later to say 2:09, this isn't a recent boom in Korea. The Kpop industry, boy groups and girl groups, has been going strong in Korea since the early 90s. Then it really turned towards what we know as Kpop today with the debut of the group BigBang in 2006, who are known as the Emperors/Kings of Kpop. It's just that Kpop music is only recently becoming more mainstream in Western markets so people are only now coming to know about it, and so they think its new and its some big sudden wave of music in Korea, but it's been around for decades. Kpop is an industry, not a genre, so its best to think of it as such.
