I've had the PT stance ever since I started darts and now my back hurts after throwing for 10 minutes, I've tried to change it, but anything else feels forced and uncomfortable. Guess I'm just screwed.

Hi Wayne. I grip thhe dart the same way everytime. I just find it hard to find the same spot on the barrell every time. I use a straight barrel. Should I try a different shape barrel? Or any tips to find the sweet spot more consistently?

To comfort I would add consistency. Always grip it the same, don’t play the barrel like a flute and light grip “pressure” only on index finger and thumb.

I just throw until I don’t want to anymore (but can’t end on bad darts) 😂

Wayne! I purchased these darts a few days ago, silver 24 gram as a replacement for my old Webster darts. Awesome dart, great balance. The only problem I am having is with the silver points not gripping the board to good. Love the idea of the hawaii 501 engraving on them.. What do you do to make sure the darts also stay in the harder dart boards?

I’ll always start with at least a 15 minute warm up session, just to get the arm moving and the blood flowing. Being nearly 60 it takes a little longer to get loose enough for any routines. Once warmed up I’ll start off with Bobs 27 or round the clock in doubles, just always believed that going for doubles early in routines helps with focus. I use Go Darts Pro as it’s fantastic for recording progress and areas where you need to work on. I’ll throw for around an hour with an hour X01 twice a day. Excellent video Mab 👍🏻🎯

Gr8 video. I've suffered with nerves on a weekly basis in my thursday night league. I know all the players so don't no why. I get told it's because I'm pressuring myself to play well, possibly right. Nerves have ruined my games on many occasions it's never easy to repair. I'll take your advice and try something different . I'm just a pub player who wants to do well. Playing 5 yrs have hit 259 180s, 170 finish. I know I have the ability and put practice in. But beating them Nerves is harder then the above. Thank you #WayneMardle

Recently I have seen a lad in a league game walking over with every dart thrown. I dont understand how that can be fine with the rules, even if he releases before his foot touches the ground he can easily reduce the distance to the board a lot.

Well explained! I brought the stance with the balance point from shooting with the air riffle. There you are stable on 2 legs while here is one leg a stabiliser and keep just 10% of your weght while the 90% is on your front leg (right hand, right leg)

I had been wondering about this & whether it is even a legal throw considering they are over the oche before they’ve released their dart.

Some food for thought: I bet most people who hit their first ever 180 didn't walk on their last dart. Because they were so focused on throwing the dart the same as the first two. When it becomes normal you walk on similar to your not so good darts!

I guess another factor is that when you have thrown a million darts like Michael and Ryan Searle (another walker, it seems ;) ) it's complacency. But, by walking on the third dart... you just gave up the benefit of your two "markers". I like the time and focus Peter Wright always seems to have. And my favorite of all time.... John Lowe, very patient and deliberate thrower.

I used to put all of my weight on my forward foot. Since making the shift to a balanced, even stance I've improved my game considerably. Thanks Wayne!
@thadonis.3 ай бұрын
Purely hypothetical and crazy.. What if you were able to master the walk throw? So you could release the dart a fraction of a second before your walking foot fouls by touches down. Then repeat the process for the next 2 darts? If its allowed on the last dart, why not the first 2? With practice you could be 2 foot closer to the board. Hell, the likes of Dom Taylor could place em in. Guess it doesn't keep with the spirit of the game, but would fun to watch until he got banned doing it.

The most natural way for me is like picking up a pencil or pen and holding it, so when I hold my darts it’s the same just feel natural if that makes sense
