I love this man's enthusiasm for the game, the players and his commentary style. I saw him in an exhibition once. He did a full tour of the crowd as part of his walk on. High fived everybody. Then he hit a 15 darter against someone who had won a raffle to play him. He hit - 4 straight tons, 101 finish - Bull, S1, Bull. Phenomenal! You can't beat a bit of Bully!

I played a guy one time He threw first I hit 180, 60 ,180. Concentrating only on my game I went up to have a go at my 81 chk out and the marker was cleaning the board. My opponent had just taken out 148 to beat me in 12 darts... Point is 15 darts is good but its not phenomenal.. Although the 2 bulls was nice.
@jamieshannon98094 жыл бұрын
@@RABIDJOCK 15 darts for the Professional player is the absolute bare minimum they EXPECT to get. I'd say most of them are seeking 11 - 13 darts matches as a regular leg.
@RABIDJOCK4 жыл бұрын
@@jamieshannon9809 well 15 darts gets you a ball hair over 100 avg so it is very good if you are hitting it consistantly and a 100 avg will get you into the latter stages of most comps but on its own it not outstanding. Gary Anderson won a set on Sunday in the world final with 15, 17, and 21 which was about county level. Suppose that's why he got beat 😆
@jamieshannon98094 жыл бұрын
@@RABIDJOCK Of course, in most of the Players Championship games you'd expect an average of between 104 - 109 with the odd exception of above 112. It's difficult to maintain a high average like they do in the Premier League Darts in a first to 7 set match where you could end up playing 65 legs of darts. Most Professional players are looking for 2 Big Trebles per throw and a big set up shot to leave an "easy 2 darter".

@ciaran perry fair enough but I played for about 12 years in the late 70s in the laye 80s then left Scotland and stopped playing for 23 years.Started again in 2013 after my girls were up and was back to how I was playing within a short time..I get to that point and know I'm not going to keep up 3 hours a day practice as I used to. For me returning to darts was for the social aspect. I'm as happy marking games as playing them as long as I'm having a pint 😆

I’ve always considered Wayne Mardle to be an ex player that has got into commentary. It’s only when you actually sit quietly and listen to him and take on board what he’s saying that you truly appreciate his incredible knowledge of the game. I’ve certainly enjoyed these videos, and look forward to putting these methods into practice, to hopefully improve my game. Cheers Wayne 👍

Thanks, Wayne! Some of this helped a lot. The release is my real problem. I find the dart gets caught on a finger a lot and that pushes it into the 1 or 5. My scoring is like: 140, 22, 11, 100, 7, 26...

Brilliant. I told my friend I relate everything in life to golf. This definitely includes darts. Golf is all about Tempo. I told him to start throwing with the same pace on throws and he INSTANTLY improved dramatically. Anyone else out there that is just beginning... start with a slow tempo. It shows you everything mechanically that you can improve upon. Cheers from Minnesota!
@martinstephenson43114 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've often thought the Dart throw is very similar to the Golf swing. You want the same thing happening every time. As you say, it's all about tempo, relaxed but firm, don't grip the Dart or Club too tight and a good follow through!

Nice tutorial Wayne.. cheers. 😉👍 What about the aiming though??? In front of the eye (look down the barrel).. or.... look over the top of the dart - keeping both eyelines clear?? I'm personally looking down the barrel - using it like the sights of a gun - lining that up with the target then throwing. Sometimes, when I'm practicing, I look over the top of the dart and this does 'sometimes' work better than aiming down the barrel. But I feel this leads to dropping my elbow. This is more of a rhythm throw. Which is best in the long run? It's all very confusing 🙈

I aim down the barrel but adjust it with my right eye, right eye dominant, it looks wrong as in it seems your aiming elsewhere than the 20 with both eyes open but I get good results, many 100s for me?
@alexmack64544 жыл бұрын
dude i cant belive you hit the board while looking at the dart. pick a spot inside the treble. not just the treble but any discolouration or bit of white or whatever. your eyes do better focusing on one spot than an area. 'eyes on the prize' and we used to say. i don't know what you average but your aiming technique sounds bizarre

Bobby George summed it up perfectly - “look where you’re throwing, and throw where you’re looking”. It’s simple. People have different throws and different actions 🤷🏻♂️ you can either throw a dart or you can’t. A player from years ago called Ceri Morgan had the weirdest throw of anyone ( footage of him on here ) but he still hit what he needed. Same with Co Stompe from the BDO days, his throw isn’t conventional by any means but he still hit doubles and trebles. No player throws the same as another 🤷🏻♂️ there isn’t a definitive, correct way to throw in my opinion. You find what’s right for you and you practice it again and again and again.
