Great questions Joan! The ornate sculptures are so lovely yes! The original inhabitants of Pena Palace were the Portuguese royal family, who used the palace as a summer residence during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Red, green and yellow are apart of the Portugal flag so maybe that's why? I don't know how the purple comes into play though haha

Ah very cool! My husband is vegan and I'm vegetarian/plant based too. We share cooking haha. I'm in lots of vegan fb groups that give me inspiration, but my go-to is roasted veggies, tofu and quinoa

@@DeannaTroyTravels I enjoyed the challenge because it seemed that a lot of plant based dishes called for two or three step preparations. It made me realize how much easier it is to cook with animal proteins.

@@scottandtracytraveling That's so interesting cuz I find meat more challenging. If you don't cook a plant-based protein all the way you won't get sick, but if you mess up fish or beef then you're screwed haha

Oh really! When did you last visit Portugal? Maybe it's changed since then. We went to London, Athens, Santorini Stockholm and Lisbon in 2024 and they were all very accommodating to vegan options. But "Kuching" really the classic spelling of "Kucing" which means cat in Malaysian language
