kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3O5iHedort5Zqssi=lrx8vJxhFC5OdN0u I made that video two years back, at 19 y/o, while I was still in the thick of (an attempt of) practicing transcendental meditation. So much had changed since, but the single insight I had then, is still as clear to me: This unshakeable feeling that We are Time. Or, at least, hold in our chests (spiritedness), an axis of the eschatological ascent. My ideas surrounding chronology, observation, kairos, and mortality have been refined and edified through a more recent appreciation of theology, also. Thank you for your contemplations, Dear Stephen.

its very interesting that you used the fruit/seed of the tree as the relationship in this example with the symbol/reality metaphor , its decent and i think it does hint at some larger truths ; ironic tho that the example that you chose is about the tree , when the entire story about the serpent and the fruit and the 2 trees in the garden are explicitly stories about questioning your given reality , ie the serpent being representative of disobedience/independence/wisdom/jesus/lucifer/lightbringer/morningstar/prometheus , and the entire structure of the garden a prison of ignorance , the tree of the knowledge of good/evil is not about specifics [ofc being an allegory] but about the ability to understand the difference between things , ie polarity ; truly amazing how stories can be weaved in such ways as to have layers within layers within layers
@Stephen.D203 күн бұрын
Perhaps when you realize that the fruit has the seed, the tree transforms into the tree of life and Adam receives his inheritance. There is speculation these trees are one somehow. The lesson is have faith in the seed don’t be deceived by the fruit.

The question for me does your symbolic system cover over the lack/real?( ideology / community) or does your symbolic system get you to the lack/real ?( communion / love)
@Stephen.D206 күн бұрын
Hrm well I don't think of this as my system. It's the system of human sense making generally as expressed in literature, painting, photography, music and any other art, and also science with it's modeling of reality project. I think that this symbolic thinking has a tendency to create idols and ideologies that are recursive to it's own symbolism, This is identifiable by its, "We have found the actual truth rather than our interpretation." proclamations. However, if carefully restrained from all such egoism in a humility and the realization that you're thinking in approximation, it can in this way lead one towards communion via love. Love is always humble.
@Parsons4Geist6 күн бұрын
@Stephen.D20 My apologies; I wasn't trying to say in any way that your system was doing this. I was just pointing to the fact that most systems portray themselves as totalizing unconscious to the fact that these totalizations are imaginary projections, but imaginary projections are needed for what it means to be human. I think you are spot on this egoism, and its totalization is where the problem lies. Your use of the garden analogy is wonderful . It seems the ego is trying to protect itself from the other. this builds up defenses and trying to protect itself from the other's desire but in doing this a fantasies/idolatry, which also cut off the subject from their own desire, and cutting off desire cuts off love. The tightrope walk of rational knowledge and unconscious desire is very perplexing but also very interesting. I think your study and seeking out these questions through liturgy, science, and other means is so cool. Thanks for another great video

I think the Higgs boson being named the God particle by some, is appropriate. It looks like the material mechanism God uses to build the Anthropocentric evolved universe we inhabit.

Yes. I’m a bit disappointed that I’m leaning toward the relationship between massive particles of gravity is probably not the pure relationality I was hoping for. This is the danger of thinking. You might change your mind! 😂

@@Stephen.D20 Right, and I should have said “energy process” rather than “material mechanism” in my previous comment. I like David Bohms’ Implicate Order & his spiritual outlook too. Lots of cool science & religion entanglement theories floating around these days.

Thanks again Stephen ! In Process philosophy and theology “relationship” is one of the most important & powerful understandings. Your descriptions of the probabilities, myriad possible worlds, leads me to imagine we are “seeing” into the infinite depths of divine consciousness. God has privileged our world & universe with “matter”, an evolutionary physical & spiritual existence characterized by beauty, truth & goodness = Love. Relationship is everything. The other possible worlds refer to the infinite depths of the mystery of God’s potentials. How many of these are realized or remain potential we are destined to discover and experience in our eternal future spiritual lives in the heavenly dimensions, and of course in the future generations of persons on earth, if we can learn to love all beings of all faiths, all life forms & our mother earth.

Thanks Stephen for the fun thought experiments. I am a Christian with a pan-entheist metaphysics. Would God in & as the world/universe, yet also more than, help explain any of this ? The universe is God’s mind, which our minds are capable of understanding & interacting with on lower dimensions & potentially higher dimensions via science and theosis ?
@Stephen.D2021 күн бұрын
Yes I think we basically agree. These ideas are Christian for me. God is in the world, everywhere, all the time. It is Orthodox. More of the Eastern strain of Isaac the Syrian and Jacob of Sarug perhaps.

@@Stephen.D20 Great ! Although in one of your short videos I thought you said theologically, God is outside of the universe? Classic Creator/creation dualism. ?

@@RichardCosci ah I meant we in our created world cannot know the mechanics of an uncreated God who created and continually creates us. Outside in a knowability sense. It’s hard to say everything properly all the time when doing these stream of consciousness videos.

I’m wondering if we are Time. What I mean is that because we are a part, we have a beginning and end, and we are self conscious, in other words we are aware of our finitude, we carry time in our hearts. I have always been curious about what it might be like to be an animal who lives entirely in the eternal now. They don’t seem to have any idea of a future and I must conclude are unaware of Death and therefore unaware of their finitude. This seems to make them eternal beings in a way, maybe this is a stretch, but I’m trying to highlight the Observer problem you started with on your channel, because this idea that we can change the world through self aware observation seems like it might also allow us to be the carriers of Time. I hope this makes sense……

And then of course we are blind to a timeless world. Just some random thoughts. Also sorry for blowing up your theory:)

A Slavoj Žižek-quantum physicist joke "God says Why are quantum physicists so obsessed with the multiverse? Because it's like God started creating reality, then got bored halfway through, leaving it up to us to fill in the gaps by constantly discovering new particles and phenomena, essentially finishing what the divine architect left incomplete."
@Stephen.D2022 күн бұрын
We do like to build machines and I think God is very much impressed by us! The many worlds is a very accurate predictor using quite simple math. It seems right until we try to think as a God existing out of spacetime. Then we shake our heads, insert some correction factor and check out the latest CERN results :-)

@Stephen.D20 yes the hardway way of thinking of human freedom is a paradoxical brick wall both religion and science keeps crashing up against. very much enjoy connecting dots for this corner of the internet that is a huge blind spot for so many in both religion and scientific studies.
