So the 250$ Chibson is better than the other two way way more expensive guitars in certain areas... that is mindblowing. Now I would never buy a Gibson just cause pricing is out there and Epiphone is dead to me as all 4 Epiphones I had over the past few years all had issues that should have made b-stock. Find me an 3000$ ESP with that binding job that Gibson has and Ill eat a sock so even if at some point I will be able to spend that kind of money on a guitar, Gibson aint gonna be the brand Id be looking at. Ended up here cause Im looking to buy a 250$ Chibson and drop another 250$ in it to make it perfect! It is what it is Gibson aint getting any of my money probably never. Also this comparison is not ridiculous, and the way I see it, all these 3 guitars are copies of the real Greeny. The video is absolutely great for people who want to maximize value for money and ofc what that might be is subjective to each of us.

You can take any 2 guitars and the worst one could still do "something" bettwr than the best. The overall guitar is the sum of all those aspects. Taking that into account, I still feel that the Gibson is the best of the 3, and by a wide margin. My takeaway was that the margin was much tighter between the Chibson and the Epi, which is why I really question the value of the Epi.

I don't think that this guitar is a scam. It's being delivered, and people are buying it for collectible reasons, they love Trump, or for reviews. They know it's not actually better than a $300 guitar. It just has some gaudy graphics. Perhaps not as gaudy as those gold shoes, but... What I do think is that it's rather disgusting. Trump claims to be "America First." So why not have it (or his even more disgusting cash-grab Bibles) made in America? The jury is out on where this guitar was built (China/India/Indonesia, etc.) but it wasn't built in the states. Yes, his profit margins would be less, and the final product would cost more, but how about having some f'n integrity? How about supporting an American guitar manufacturer? The truth is, Americans talk a big game about buying American, but if they can save some $, they collapse and buy imports. And that's fine...there are some great imported guitars. But to slap some bald eagle graphics on a cheap guitar and profit on it whilst screaming "U.S.A., U.S.A!" is a cash grab, and in my opinion, disgusting.
@IracesGarage37 минут бұрын
Keep in mind it's not "his" profit margins. He's not the person who owns or runs the business that's selling these. He's just paid to endorse them. The relatively small volume of sales requires a pretty large markup for that company to profit. If they went with an American made guitar, the price would probably be $3500-5k instead of $1500. That's likely an even tougher pill to swallow for a large percentage of potential buyers.

The biggest ethical fault is Gibson charging 2-10,000 for a POS. I have owned many and through 40+ years of collecting have determined many Japanese Manufacturer made better than Gibson for less.I would buy a Chibson, why not, Freedom of choice. If you want to blow yourself while playing then buy a Gibson. I recently bought a Chinese scalloped neck, the Quality was phenomenal, so there you go. Satin finishes can be buffed to a shine.

Awesome review and I just ordered one. I will have it on display and try hard to resist playing it to keep it mint, but most likely play the hell out of it. I just think it looks so cool with the Egale and American Flag, but the selling point is the inlays, that says it all and I'm not even an American. I find the coments so chidish but good for a laugh.

@ I sent my comment before you said where you were selling them. Someone I feel worked on the one I got and changed the strings.None of the black fingers on this one. It was more joke than reality. The neck pickup looks low and I haven’t measured its height. The inlay makes me a little buggy but looks so good. I’m following you, Amazon is getting more of the “acoustic electrics, I canceled my order for 2-15-25 delivery. I would be interested in your work up and opinion of them. If you haven’t already.

Made in China and not worth the money. I would compare it to a cheap Epiphone cus the bolted neck. 3 piece body with a veneer top, body alden or cheap mahogany. Electronics China. If you´re not gonna play it and hang it on the wall or just put it away and expect high value in a collectors view. I´m saying this as an guitar buyer, seller and collector since the last 30 years

Nobody wants to hear my lousy playing. the pickups in the Chibson were ok-ish. I replaced them with D'urbano Supernaturals. The Epi has Wilkinson pickups that I'm very happy with. The gibson sounds fantastic, and there are plenty of videos out there with excellent sound demos.

This is clearly a $150 guitar and everything that goes along with that. Bolt neck, cheap tuners and electronics. As a collector's item, who knows, but to me it has no other value.
@IracesGarage15 күн бұрын
Then it's clearly not for you! With Epi Specials selling for $200, I can confidently say this is definitely not a $150 guitar. Low end electronics for sure, but the woods, wood matching and finish is far better than anything at that price range. Cosmetics were prioritized over hardware/electronic quality, and rightfully so considering that most of theae are destined to be show pieces, not gigging tools.
@seanervin718315 күн бұрын
@@IracesGarage Agreed - I do find it interesting that with so many super-inexpensive set-neck guitars, they chose a bolt-on neck. That works on Fenders, but it looks pretty cheap on a LP-style guitar. Probably cheaper to ship unassembled would be my guess.

Melt the wax but j as it's cooling down before it starts to turn white dip let all the bubbles come out then pull but on paper face down let cool unmask clean all the top of pickups

There's nothing wrong with Ceramic Magnets JEFF BECK PLAYED THEM MOST PRO METAL PLAYERS USE THEM. A LOT OF HIGH END PICKUPS ARE CERAMIC....
@IracesGarage22 күн бұрын
Yes, but they're also used in bottom dollar garbage because they're cheaper. In the right application they can definitely sound great, and to be honest I thought these sounded good, but they definitely have a different sound than a PAF.
@BackWoodsBillyCraftBeerReviews17 күн бұрын
@IracesGarage Actually I have to laugh 😂 Ceramic Magnet 🧲 Alnico Magnet 🧲 both are magnetic... Period... Different levels of strength similar to Alnico obviously a Metal Player would not use Alnico 3 but possibly would have a 2 in the neck for certain parts. Typically a 5 or 7 this is an issue after 5 Ceramic Magnets are Superior. Look Jeff Beck who played classic rock LOVED CERAMIC MAGNETS. IMO AS MOST METAL GUITARIST WOULD AGREE 💯 CERAMIC MAGNETS RULE.. it's a preference... ACDC guitarist Angus Young has Alnico 2 Magnet 7 4 resistance.. not a high power magnet but he loves the clarity he uses a multi effects pedal that's back stage. At the end is a Buffer Boost that boost the power of the signal before the Tube AMP.... BYW CNC MACHINING LEVELED THE PLAYING FIELD... The fact is that say a DONNER 152 Seeker Series Guitar 🎸 is as good as a FENDER or GIBSON... At less than 10% of the cost .. Fire Fly IYV LEO JAMZ as well.... Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶

I'm still wondering if he really signed the expensive ones. Guitar MAX has reviewed one and I would guess the signature is underneath the clear coat. I also looked up the photograph of the donald signing one of the specimens; it seems real because you can see the reflection of his fingers and tie in the guitar, very shiny because it already has its clear coat. You can't see him actually writing on the guitar because the protective stuff around the strings has been strategically left on. You just see him holding the marker. To be honest, it would surprise me if the signatures aren't just a reproduction, sold for $ 10,000 a pop.
@IracesGarage22 күн бұрын
I would expect that if that were true, the people who paid $11k would be coming out of the woodwork complaining.

It's sad to hear how the Gibson company has declined. It's the story of many American companies: prices have gone up, quality has gone down, and the company just doesn't want to hear it.
@IracesGarage23 күн бұрын
I'm not really sure if the quality has gone down or if we're all much more aware of it because of social media and forums. How many 59s were coming out of Kalamazoo with binding scrapes and tooling marks? I'm willing to bet that a lot did. That said, if you can get a $500 import without these issues, I don't think that it's unreasonable to expect the same from Gibson.

You've been far too kind. This is a $200-300 guitar with a vinyl sticker under the clear coat, and print out. I spoke to an artist friend of mine, and he could hand paint, or airbrush a guitar top for anything between $100-300 with a unique design. Factoring the cost of the guitar and the refinish you could create a more unique "trump" guitar for half the price. Factoring in labour costs in the far east, I am pretty sure they could they could have had the tops hand finished and still turned a profit. As a collectible I can't see these having any value. With the lack of any real identifiers they will be incredibly easy to replicate. You could probably even contact the OEM and get them to make you one on the qt. This will make the market a minefield. What's disappointing, is they could have actually done something unique and authentic. A different body design or a hand painted top, or even both.

Not a fan at all but it's not my money. I am curious to know how much/how fast that clear coat is going to yellow. Wonder when you will start seeing them on the resale market? I imagine that they are not going to go up in value at least in the long run.
@IracesGarage24 күн бұрын
Hard to say on all counts. I wouldn't expect the clear to yellow much. Even my super cheap guitars don't seem to be yellowing at all. As for value, it's tough to say.
@John_Bauers25 күн бұрын
With flame maple, the 'movement' will be lost if the first part of the finish is a stain. In order to retain the movement, the first coat needs to be a lacquer. The lacquer can be tinted.
@IracesGarage24 күн бұрын
Not in my experience. I've dyed and stained figured maple before. Dye maintains more of the natural chatoyance than stain or tinted lacquer, but both stains and tinted lacquers won't hide it unless it's very opaque.

Nice review that should help many know what to expect. I do have one suggestion. You said in the video you would say who this guitar is not a good fit for. Personally, the galled tremolo knife edges are likely a deal breaker for the serious Floyd whammy guy like me. That may indicate the metal is too soft, which is all too common on these knockoff bridges in comparison to the OFR and Gotoh ones with hardened steel edges that will provide years of service. It would be good to know a bit more. Replacing imported copies with a real Floyd can often be a frustrating experience requiring significant modification as the geometry and required routing may be very different. Would be nice to know this going in. You mentioned you've seen folks retrofit these - would be nice to know how that went for them. A new OFR in this case could cost significantly more than the guitar itself.
