I wish people would stop saying that it speeds up light 😂 It's completely the wrong description of how, scientifically, it works.

A sundial this large should be accurate to less than a minute, but only if you do the corrections accurately. I'm not sure how you're using that Equation of Time diagram, but you also have to account for the difference between your longitude and your Standard Time Zone reference meridian -- 4 minutes per degree subtracted if you are east of that meridian, or added if you are west of it. (Sometimes sundials will be designed or adjusted to account for that correction in the layout of the hour lines, since it doesn't change, but I can't tell if that's the case with your dial.)

I wonder how there were 4 different (uniquely and oppsoite to each other) shadows during the total solar eclispes from 2017-2024. Did our moon change its direction atleast twice, 3 times, 4 times?!

That’s a nice little set up. Curious to know what adapter you’re using to connect your ASI to the Meike lens. The ones I’m seeing on the web are for Olympus cameras. I would be curious to try something like this.

Great video and explanation. I would REALLY like to buy the NYX tripod to mount a Skywatcher Wave 150i on it; from the video it seems that once removed the base plate there is a classic 85 mm hole on top of the tripod, and it should be compatible with other strain wave mounts: am I right? Other than the proprietary plate, will this tripod be able to house 85 mm pucks?

Does the 2x not have threats for imaging like M48? It looks like it's only the 4x where you can unscrew the top.
@PhotonVoyage2 ай бұрын
1. Colimate your telescope precisely using the Starizona manual. 2. Backfocus can be a problem, especially if you are using a filter. You must add a third of the filter's thickness, and most filters are 2mm, so about 0.66mm of focus will be off, which is more than 0.5mm, which is an okay standard. 3. Autofocuser must be set properly by managing a backlash compensation... Do this and let us know.

Hi Cole, I was really wondering where you were talking about Hyper Star and solving its problems with focus and tilt, I have been waiting for this for a very long time, I am really tired of this range, I am starting to doubt that my range is dedicated to CPC, not HD😔

Cool.... For moisture, you can try dry CuSO4. All you have to do is heat up copper sulfate crystal till it turns white and powder. Then put that powder into Your setup. Great absorbent.

One thing that rarely gets mentioned for SCT's but has fixed my issues in the past. Is proper corrector plate alignment first.

How do you use this mount on other tripods. Are there adapters available?
@mrpoopybutthole6665 ай бұрын
this is an absolute horseshit, I pressed the button slew, and it started going in the complete opposite way, and the cancel button is not working at all, it nearly bumped into a tripod, and had to do emergency power switch

Hey, Cole - do you have an update for the star shapes from your Hyperstar? I just obtained the Hyperstar v4 for my club's EdgeHD 8, so I'll be going through the same process. I also got tri-Bahtinov mask to aid in collimating the Hyperstar, which I'm hoping will help. Have you tried a tri-Bahtinov mask?
@ColeRees7 ай бұрын
I have tried the tri-bat mask before and i can say it def helps. I have found the HoTech collimation system to be the only super-accurate way to get the collimation dialed in. I have moved away from my hyper star though, as I am using the EdgeHD for visual only at the moment. My esprit 100 has become my main imaging setup. I hope to go back and revisit the hyper star more when I finally make the move down south!

So the 2x can't screw on to an imaging train?
@ColeRees7 ай бұрын
It is my understanding that the powermates only have a 2” barrel on the scope-side. However, on the imaging side, they have threads you can attach your image train to. Baader click-lock is probably your best bet attaching it to the scope

It has a full set of ropes and stakes. I just didn’t use them in this demonstration because I didn’t have the space. I think it would do fine in winds up to 45 mph if not more.

Truly awesome effort here, i was grinning the whole video. Can you share what gear you used and settings in case we'd like to make a night timelapse, that would be so helpful. Keep it up and share often, you really can make a difference to many who enjoy this content!
@ColeRees7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!! I’d be happy to share my gear. This one was very simple: Sony A7iii, Rokinon 14mm @2.8-4.0, 4 second exposures. I used to the interval function inside the settings to capture all the images, then I brought them into Lightroom and batch-processed each Timelapse shot to my liking. I then exported them all as JPEGs, into premiere pro, then imported AS A SEQUENCE with 1 frame per photo onto my timeline. That’s about it!

Great video. Can you do a follow up video on NYX 101?
@ColeRees7 ай бұрын
Yes!! I am in the process of filming that video as we speak. There has been a TON of stuff to cover, and I have also been working with Pegasus Astro to fix a few bugs that I believe are too important to skip over. I am hoping these bugs are fixed before I release my full review. But, TLDR, it’s a great mount that will perform well. It’s a bit pricey but it allows enthusiasts a portable alternative to something like an EQ6R, with the only drawback being a motor that is not as accurate. I will cover all of this in deep technical detail in the follow up review. Just so you know, we get terrible weather here most of the year so I have only had it out under about a dozen or so nights so far!

Thanks! Hoping to get more streams/vids up this summer, we had an AWFUL winter and it’s taken me multiple months to fully test the NYX 101. I didn’t want to half-ass my review of it like most people did. I’ve found lots of issues and I’ve been working with the devs to fix them. It’s truly a great mount but there’s just a few bugs that need to be fixed before perfection.
