240's work good for most daily driver applications. With the 320 you might loose some low/idle rpm output. I like to just use the 240's to be safe and just add battery bank.

Original problems "I installed the MM-VC1 but regardless of the setting from 70-100%, there is no change from 13-6V-13.7V and ends up with a "service battery system" after a few minutes, even though it remains at 13.6-7V. There is continuity from the unit red to the alternator alternator pigtail end and shows OUT at unit. As soon as GM pigtail is plugged in and started shows standard 14.8V. Is the GM signal 120HZ or 128Hz and is this causing the unit not to work on a 2013 Silverado?" There was a bad connection between the red wire harness coming from the unit to the 2-pin short harness. The single wire black male-female connector does not make good contact due to loose wire in the connectors. The wire was pushed in on both parts and now works perfectly at a constant voltage (80%-14,8V, 79%-14.7,etc.) regardless of RPM on a 2013 SIlverado 5.3.

We've tried a few things, but it seems getting the battery warning/check battery light off is hit or miss on them unfortunately. Most times it just comes down to us building the customers alternator with the standard GM 4pin internal regulator and use the single wire key on/off source for operation. This will yield 14.6-14.9 volts but unfortunately the check battery light will be on the dash. Not too many customers like that in their nicer/newer vehicles.

*Please make a video about alternator bearings, chiefly something like the BRL ENC330 330 Celcius bearings as well as radial loading. As I have found out that under load most cartridge bearings get stressed in stock alternators and develop play when loaded to spec. just 80a idle on a stock 130 gave it a light under load rattle. Then also what bearings you prefer to use as pulleys on multi units.*
@mechmanalternatorsАй бұрын
We don't seem to really have an issue with our current NSK type bearings. They seem to last as long if not longer than the lifespan of the alternators given the usage and environment they're made for. I do prefer to use marine grade spec units in things like mud trucks and off-road rigs. Gives just a little bit of extra help with the rectifier heat dissipation and keeping the brushes cleaner.

i built a 4kwh 14v lifepo4 battery for my EV to increase its range. Added some flexible solar to the roof which keeps it charged up and the higher voltage avoids power from being stolen from the high voltage traction battery. in summer you loose about 4 miles of range every hour from 12v parasitic load. in the winter it can be much more, around 8 miles per hour due to heated seats and whatnot. doesnt sound like a lot but with my 13 year old chevy volt only getting around 40-45 miles of range before the mod, it had the same effect as raising my tire pressure 8psi above standard. a lot more trips now where I use no gas, and gas is spendy here in wa. like 50cents/kwh spendy. each drive to work I save 50 cents, and again on the way home in fuel. ignoring the fact that you can build the same system for about the same price as a replacement 12v battery, the break even is at 2 years which is pretty crazy.
