That’s good to know that the alternator can’t ground through the rest of the truck… if you run your ground to the battery that eliminates the chance of any weird noises, this whole time I been trying to figure out how to isolate the alternator ground from the rest of the truck, that way the amps are on there own ground not shared with anything else in the vehicle

I would love for you to go thru the differences between a Six phase and a standard alt especially if u could show a load test where it charges faster or more efficiently than a single, I would like to. Understand more I have not seen any other video doing this

I'm just curious is one ground from alternator to battery of ofc 0 gage enough for a 240 amp I'm not trying to show off I just won't to make shur alternator is sufficient with that run
@mechmanalternators2 жыл бұрын
Sure is! In fact 1 zero gauge OFC wire directly from the alternator to battery is enough for a 400amp alternator! It's just physics.

I bought a 240 amp alternator from y'all for my 1200 watt rms amp and im only going to run one ground from alternator to battery I glad that all I need is that one ground thanks for your reply 👍

I did an ls swap I got the billet 370 2 pin what do I need
@Deeznuts843562 жыл бұрын
I think you need a 4 pin regulator. Use the one wire pigtail to exite the alternator.

Those billet alternators are sexy! You got a high amp one for late model Mopars?
@mechmanalternators2 жыл бұрын
No billets for the Mopars. It's a double edge sword really. We have a few people each year ask about Billets for Ford/Mopar/Ram/Etc, but we've found that when we offer them that customer no longer likes the upgraded price. We COULD make one, but it would be a terrible business move when the majority customer base just isn't there to support it.

@@mechmanalternators That's too bad, but understandable. Thanks for the update! 👍🏼

@@DJGRoc Trust me, i'm trying to get some more Billet's out there, there's just a few hoops to jump through. Also looking at some small case billet design updates.
@DJGRoc2 жыл бұрын
@@mechmanalternators I totally understand. It would be nice to have one for my Chally, as it would look great with my color scheme. I'll settle for the low gloss black painted unit for now.
@mechmanalternators2 жыл бұрын
@@DJGRoc The low gloss or semi gloss black and of course ORANGE are the hot colors most of the Mopar guys go with. I believe we did a Plum Purple not long ago for a Plum Purple Charger that looked pretty sweet.

Okay logical question.... why not just ground to the frame..... you're saying ground from the alternator back to the battery... the negative of the battery grounds directly to the frame... so what's the scoop
@tonyb0223772 жыл бұрын
You can, but the best option is the battery.
@brian_zx6r2 жыл бұрын
Oem wiring the alt would still go Thur the engine to Frame then battery. But alt to battery is the least resistance. So it best to just ground alt & battery directly together.

When you going to make a 14v alternator. Or an 12-16 v adjustable alternator!
@FATHERSOFBASS2 жыл бұрын
🤦🏻
@tonyb0223772 жыл бұрын
That was the original plan actually. Going to do a dual setup with one at 12v running the truck and another at 14 volts running the audio in the 16.5-17 volt range. It changed because an amateur or hobby level audio person really doesn't need that complication to achieve the same results as a well put together system. I mean...most people don't know how to run a shorter belt or a 12v switched source 😇🥰
@jason74752 жыл бұрын
@Tony Bolton How about a race version alternator that will charge a 14v battery!
@tonyb0223772 жыл бұрын
@@jason7475 a "race alternator" should be for a 12v battery. A 14 volt battery needs to be charged around 16.5-16.9 volts. High torque drag, external regulation.....its a bad combo for a race vehicle. 12v battery and high quality alternator are the best combination.
@jason74752 жыл бұрын
@Tony Bolton Than why are all track only cars 16v? More spark energy. Fans and pumps all work better higher voltage You should really consider this
