I’m interested to hear more about why Aqua Clarity is being discontinued. Should we continue to use it?
@ahh-some2 күн бұрын
Hi Dan. Yes, absolutley continue to use it. Over the last few years since we have put Aqua Clarity on the market one of the biggest "issues" we have had was customers not always liking to have to purchase a seperate gallon container to mix the product in. For some its just to much work to mix. So what we decided to do what to simply do all the mixing ourselves and put it in a 32 oz bottle that is ready to use the moment you have it. Simplicity is the word I like to use. This will be a slow transition as we are still selling the Aqua Clarity and have plenty of stock remaining. Same product in the 32 oz bottles just under our Ahh-some name instead of the Aqua Clarity name.

Can you clarify what you do with the salt cartridge during this process? Leave it in for the purge or remove it at some point? Thanks!

Hi! Thanks so much for this helpful video. Is there a reason why the filters need to be removed before the purge? Isn’t it harmful to run the jets without filters in? Also, isn’t it harmful to run the jets with no water as you did at the end? Sorry if I sound oblivious/ignorant-I truly want to learn why :)
@ahh-someАй бұрын
HI there and thank you for leaving the comment/questions. So lets talk about the filter cartridges first. There is absolutely no harm in running your hot tub with the cartridges removed. Generally, we don't want to do this on a normal basis simply because of what the filter is designed to do, filter water but also, we don't want big chunks of things (think leaves, twigs, ect) getting sucked into the system and potentially harming the pumps. That all said, Ahh-some is really strong stuff and if there is biofilm in your plumbing, it will release it all. If you leave your filters in, they will just get gunked up with biofilm and I have seen bad cases where you need to completely toss them and get new ones. So, for the duration of the purge it is completely ok to run without the filters in. If your tub is under a lot of trees and what not, just shut the cover while the tub is purging so you don't run the risk of anything going in the water. Now with regards to the jets and what I did there to cycle them quick. For that quick of a period of time, no harm will be done. If you let it run, Yes, harm will be done but I simply just cycle real quick. Push the button, and then almost instantly push the button again. Hope this all helps and please let me know if you have any other questions. Jim

Does Ahh-some contain any acid/bleach or other corrosive ingredients ? we had resurfaced our jet tub 2 years ago and were advised against using any cleaning products with acid/bleach or abrasive content
@ahh-someАй бұрын
Fantastic question. The answer is no. Use the recommended dosage based on the size of your tub and you will have no issues at all.
@jamiecole6955Ай бұрын
It's ok to run the tub with no filters? Everything I've read said never ever do that. I'm assuming it won't work right with the filters left in.
@ahh-someАй бұрын
It is absolutley ok to run your tub without filters. The only reason we like to keep the filters in the tub is to ensure any large particulates such as leaves and what not do not go through the system. That said, the tub will actually run just fine without the filters for the duration of your purge. If you leave them in while purging, you will ruin them and will need to replace them as the amount of gunk that will accumulate in them will be not great for the filters. Some customers will actually shut the cover of their tub while purging, especially if the tub is located under trees just to prevent foreign objects from entering the water while purging. Great question and please let me know if you ever have any others. Jim P

We just purchased a 2023 floor model Jacuzzi hot tub, and we are still waiting on delivery. We want to do the purge to be sure everything is clear in all the plumbing. My question is do we just fill the hot tub with water and add the ahh-some and do the purge and drain the water before adding any other chemicals?
@ahh-some3 ай бұрын
Hi there and thank you for posting and asking your question. Yes, you absolutely can just fill the tub up, and then purge. I would recommend waiting until the water gets above 80 degrees to start the purge though. Provided your waters pH is somewhat normal (meaning not super high or low) you will be just fine. If you happen to see that your water's pH is super high or low, simply add some pH down or up and get that to "normal". Normal is between 7.2 to 7.8. If you are a little above or below that, no worries at all. Ahh-some does not need anything else in the water to work. Hope this helps and please reach back out with any additional questions.

So you just using sump pump for convenience? Can I just open up drain and let it drain than? Also while purge is running can I shop vac the dirty foam as it builds while pumps running ??
@ahh-some4 ай бұрын
Yes I just use the pump because I have them (we live in the upper midwest and everyone needs a sump pump in the spring) so I just use that. You absolutely can use the gravity drain just fine. I do not recommend shop vac'ing the foam. The foam is your active ingredient that does your purge so you start pulling out the foam you are starting to lose active. Just let it run its course. You really should not have that much foam anyways. Use less Ahh-some than you even need to. You can always add to it if you need to add more. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

Please describe to me exactly what bio film is!
@ahh-some4 ай бұрын
Great question. Biofilm is a mix of bacteria, molds and fungus. Biofilm is present in almost every aspect of your life. It grows everywhere including the plumbing of your hot tub, swim spa, swimming pool, washing machine, dishwasher the plumbing in your home. It occurs naturally in nature as well. We often call it a biofilm matrix. Unfortunately, especially in hot tubs, once it is formed you cannot remove it without using a cleaner such as Ahh-some. It is a very sticky almost glue like substance. Thats pretty much it in a nutshell. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Should I use this on a brand new hot tub I am getting right off the bat? Or should I wait for a few months of usage?
@ahh-some6 ай бұрын
Hi Jason. My recommendation is to do your purge sooner rather than later. If you or your family is/was like mine, they couldn't wait to get in the tub when we first got it many years ago. Is it absolutely necessary to complete immediately? No, but it is better if you do. The tub is already dirty from the manufacturing process. I would say that most everyone generally either does it right away or within the first 4 to 6 weeks after having the tub in place. When we got our new tub 2 years ago (we had an older one that was just falling apart) I purged it right away and I was very happy I did so. It was quite dirty. If it was me, I would do it right away and just get the first purge done and over with and allow yourself to enjoy a good clean tub right from the beginning. Hope this helps.

@ahh-some7 ай бұрын
Hi and great question. It is more based on how many gallons are in the tub. A standard 6 person tub is generally around 450 gallons (give or take). I would start off with 3 teaspoons if you are using the gel. If you are using one of our single use pouches, use the entire pouch. If you are using one of our liquids, start off with 8 ounces and bump it up if need be. You can always add a bit more Ahh-some to the water if needed. Hope this helps.

Big Thanks for the informative video. This reinforces my suspicion that my new Bullfrog spa needs a bio-film clean. I've had a hard time keeping the chlorine at the correct level. I will be draining my tub a second time and will try your multi-flush, over night soak procedure till nothing else comes out. You used your Aqua Clarity for the primary Multi-flush... can I use your Hot Tub~Jet Cleaner for multi-flushing the same way? Also, does your Hot Tub~Jet Cleaner contribute any Phosphates? At 18:30 you mentioned you put in "Liquid Bleach". Can you expand on that? e.g. why bleach, tub size and amount of bleach. FYI... I did come across an article (Illinois Department of Public Health) that mentions adding sufficient Sodium Hypochlorite (~Bleach) to 20 ppm for hyperchlorination of public swimming facilities. This seems to fit in with your procedure.

HI there and thank you for the comment. My apologies for my delay in responding. To answer your question, Yes you can use the regular hot tub cleaner for a multi-day flush. One dose will allow you to run four 30 minute purges. If you do a full 4 purges, you will need to add more but I would only do so in 1/2 doses. I hope this makes some sense.

Great question. Generally and as a rule, I only recommend using when you are going to drain your tub. Can you use it and NOT drain, Yes you can however there are some additional steps that MUST be taken to ensure safety. Ahh-some releases a lot of bacteria into the water. There are only isolated circumstances where I would recommend not draining. If you are only draining once per year, that is fine to do.
