I already LOVE this song and I've only heard parts of it! I can't wait to hear the final product. It reminds me of the band Slint. The dissonant chords are very reminiscent of choices they would make. Myk, if you are not familiar with them, check out their album "Spiderland." I think you would really dig it.

Nice explanation. In my case new takes do not create new lanes but just add up as extra takes, old style, in the one lane. I can't find any settings to change this behaviour, would you have any advice? (Reaper 7.28)

i do not, i don't have an electronic kit. However, if you are capturing MIDI from your e-kit, whatever plugin you're using should allow you to route them. I did a video for Frightbox Recording that may help kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIS3g36wj7OcppIsi=LZf4lL-dgB4lLdhd

So in what scenarios or cases would you prefer to use a track folder Vs a send group? What are the differences & benefits of each?
@LetsTalkAboutReaperАй бұрын
@@jonesnyirenda I think my short answer is, I prefer a folder track for a bus, and a send for effects. For example, I put all my drum kit pieces into a folder. The folder track acts as a master fader for the drums and I can also collapse the folder for better organization and work at the bus level. Effects make more sense as a send in many cases because I may be sending things from various other groups to the effect.
@jonesnyirendaАй бұрын
@LetsTalkAboutReaper That's good to hear. New to Reaper here & I'm currently evaluating it. The other I was making a mixing template & was not aware of the send bus until I bumped into your video & I got curious on what could be the major differences between the track folder as I had used track folders in my template. While we are at it, since Reaper is extremely customizable, is there a way to save how I've customized it such whenever I reinstall it I can quickly load up my setup?

Maybe you can help... Jon from ReaperBlog told me Touch mode will work with midi hardware if the encoder or fader is touch capacitive. I tried Novation Nocturn, Maschine Studio, Maschine MK3. I can't get the hardware to "punch-in" and then "read" the previous automation. I move it, and when I let go, it just writes a straight line. Surely a Reaper bug unless I have something set wacky in Preferences? Not a deal-breaker, but I'd really like to be able to use Touch mode with hardware. With the mouse, it does exactly as it's supposed to: punches in, you let go, and it reads the previous envelope path. WTF. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu

GUARANTEED you won't sound any better, no matter how hard you try. (🤣 Truly. You have a really good voice. I've been trying to find my natural vibrato FOREVER!!! Lucky you! From the actual tracks I've heard, including this one, it seems like you need to bring it up in the mix. It's almost like you're trying to hide it. If so... big mistake. Let those golden cords shine! BTW, great demo song! It wasn't until near the end that I realized that I'd been tracking right along with you for the entire second half of the video. I'll have to pick it up.)

I was a logic user for 20 years.I switched to Reaper and have invested a lot of time in it but now I'm very frustrated with it and may go back to logic since no one seems to know the answer to my Reaper problem. I hope you can help. I have no panning at all. Rotating the pan knob in Stereo pan mode only reduces the volume until it's back in center again. The pan behaves this way wether its midi our audio. I hope you can solve this. Thanks. I am on a Mac studio.
@LetsTalkAboutReaperАй бұрын
i would need to see some screenshots, video, or something to be of much help. Feel free to hop on Discord and let's discuss. My initial thought based on your description, however, is that you are moving the width knob and not the panning knob. That mode should have two knobs.

I am not moving the width knob. The pan knob next to the width knob is the one I'm moving. This anomaly is occurring on all tracks. I can send you screen shots of the mixer and arrangement tracks. Do u have an email I can send to? Let me know please.
