Will this work for a reversible vest on the lining portion?
@TheAwlNighter12 күн бұрын
Yes, it should on most vests. I would definitely add the pockets to the lining before sewing the lining to the main fabric, though.

I was mending my daughter's doll's clothes and it kept jamming, a few times it even pushed the fabric down, I was trying to use the first technique, as is natural for me, but it wasn't working, so I came looking to see if paper works as a tear-away stabilizer. After watching this video, I tried paper, and it started eating the paper the same as it had eaten the fabric, then I tried the second technique, and it jammed again when I started forward after the backstitch, but when I combined the first and second techniques (started on a backstitch, then when I started forward again, I held the tails to maintain tension on the fabric), it made the cleanest seams I have ever gotten out of my machine. I'm never looking back.

Can you use tear away stabiliser when gathering? I’m having a major issue with my machine eating chiffon while trying to gather and even straight stitch. Any advice on how to help?

Do you need to true your dart legs in the slash and spread method? I apologize if this is a naive question!
@TheAwlNighter15 ай бұрын
Yes you will need to true them
@AtelierDSD5 ай бұрын
@@TheAwlNighter1 is there anyway you could show us how to do it in that scenario? Or write it out? Im just a little confused but everything else was explained perfectly! Im still just getting into the world of patternmaking:) If i could assume i would guess you would use the pivot technique after the relocation to true your dart legs? Appreciate you very much!
@TheAwlNighter15 ай бұрын
@AtelierDSD with either technique, you will need to true your dart legs. I have a video called "how to true darts" that may help you. With the slash and spread method you will need to put a piece of paper under the hole/need dart and tape it so you can create the dart intake. Watch that video and let me know if you have more questions!

2 things, firstly I made my own ham because I thought they were stupidly expensive for what they are. I bought the wool fabric from a thrift store in the guise of wool pants and then stuffed it myself. I sew bags and purses and this has worked well for me. Secondly, being new to garment sewing, my mistake was to cut the dart area and sew with the seam allowance, thus making the dart longer. Thank you for showing me my error.

Why does every single elastic waistband video fast forward over the part where they are actually putting the elastic in the waistband with the safety pen? I have no idea what they're doing. And everyone just assumes you know what they're doing but no video actually explains it.

lol R.I.P i got pintuck feet in an all-feet kit and THEN i found out i need the double needle, got that, THEN now i am learning that i need the ridge/bump thing (AND my needles came with feet -didn't even mention they did) so now i have alot of pintuck feet and need to make a bump-attachment... I'll make one from a tin can. This tutorial is very well-made and thorough though!, thank you, it is easy to follow for my endeavors of FINALLY getting to make my thing!. EDIT: AND i need to get a shabby thing for a second spool of thread...i am sure i can make a shabby thing for the thing...damn things!, i wish my machine came with the thing!. (nvm it did oops) well...still learning alot of things, my desire to pintuck has me on a journey that is for-sure.

This is going to sound crazy, but every since I've been using Gutterman All Sew Thread, This hasn't happened ? Crazy I know.😮
@TheAwlNighter18 ай бұрын
Not crazy at all! Gutterman is a better quality thread than alot of the cheaper ones you find at craft stores. The cheap thread is already fuzzy and balling up before you put it in the machine!
