Thanks so much for this video. I had to put the instrument panel surround back on a 2001 Subaru Forester and I decided that I'd change the instrument panel bulbs at the same time. One of the bulbs was clear and no silvering so it had been replaced. The other three were very silvered so they have bright new bulbs now! I hadn't taken the instrument panel surround off so this helped me put it back on! Thanks again!

I used to work at the Ocean Forest Hotel years ago, we slept in the Bull Pen I think the name of it was. It was across the street from the Hotel , anyone remember this place ? I worked for Dino in the kitchen. Used to swim in the Pool too....until we got caught.....the man said this pool was for the guest only. This was about 50 years ago...had more memroies too, but can't recall right now.

Why aren't there any photos of the old candy castle candy shop from the 1970s and 1980s?. The building looked like a castle and was painted in pastels. We went there on our family trips to Myrke Beach when I was a child. No pictures or videos have been found when I search.

The Hawaiian Village!!!!!! I haven't seen that place since 1974! And then it burned down in '75. The inside of that place was, to a small boy, purely magical with its streams and the waterfall and the little stars in the ceiling!

Apparently the Forster is radically more simple than a 2001 Outback wagon. On the Outback, that trim around the instrument cluster is one piece that extends from left door to across the center console and it doesn't move after taking out the two upper screws. Now how to keep from breaking that dash trim that also covers the instrument cluster ... .

Hi John, I am working on a project for my youtube channel that is not for profit, but could get a lot of attention. First, would you be willing to grant me permission to use the pavilion clip from this reel - and second would you be willing to send this reel of film off for a professional transfer done in Burbank in HD with a professional color grade? I would pay for the whole thing and you would only send the reel of film to Pro 8mm for them to transfer. Let me know what you think. Thanks John Austin
@JohnGasch4 жыл бұрын
John - I grant permission to extract clips from this for your project. Just cite somewhere in the product where you got it. As for the professional transfer - I could do that, but you need to be aware of several issues before you commit. The films are 16mm, not 8mm. Your preferred pro appears to only do 8mm. Also, the film is on three massive reels, 10" to 14" in diameter, so it would be quite costly. The Pavilion clips are scattered throughout because these represent seven years of MB vacations. I had a professional transfer done a few years back, and the total came to $879. I plan to re-post these processed movies in the near future - by the end of the year. The KZbin videos you see here were captured by me over 10 years ago by projecting the movie on a white screen and recording it using a camcorder. The result was ok at the time, but sub-par by current standards. What is the nature of your project?
@johnthebackwardsdude4 жыл бұрын
@@JohnGasch Hi John, Thanks so much for granting permission! I thought it might be 16mm after looking at it some more. Its so clear even for the transfer with your camcorder. Yes it would be too costly for me to pay for that kind of transfer, especially since its only a couple of shots of the ferris wheel. The project I'm working on is called "A Day In The Life of The Backwords Dude, which deals with me growing up on the Asperger's Spectrum and not realizing it till adulthood. There is a point in the video where I pull out our super 8 films of me and I remember my dad took me to the Pavillion in the early 80s and we rode the ferris wheel. I was thinking it would be cool if I could splice in a portion of the ferris wheel where we don't see any cars, so it would only be a few seconds and would be very nostalgic and help me tell my story. I can just grab what you have and make it work for now until you post the new transfers. The footage is shot so well and at a full 24 frames per second too which is rare for home movies. It is so beautiful! Thanks again!

The Ocean Forest Hotel was an architectural gem for MB and very historic. Should never have been torn down. They should have restored it and kept it as a landmark.

Hi mate, My 2003 Forester light in the watch in the dash in the middle under the storage unit isn’t working. Do you know how to replace it? Thanks
@brianmorgan27445 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the clock light, the whole center storage bin comes right out by pulling up and towards you. There is the wire harness you have to disconnect and then the whole unit will be free. Then it's just a matter of twisting out the socket for the bulb and pulling the bad bulb and replacing it. Plug the harness back in and then the back of the bin goes in first...you will see two holes where tabs on the back of the bin go in, then the front just pops back in by pushing down on it. Let me know if that helped.

Question: Why did they tear down the Pavillion ? I use to live in Myrtle Beach near the Air Base in a trailer park.
@JohnGasch5 жыл бұрын
Rumors abound. Most feasible explanation is that the owner, Burrows & Chapin, wanted to build a hotel/casino/convention center on the site. They claimed maintenance of the aging pavilion and amusement park was excessive. After the demolition, the economy collapsed (2007/8), putting a hold on the hotel project, which has yet to materialize.
@williammurray8060 Жыл бұрын
Greedy, stupid people, that's why. Moved the amusement park to Broadway away from the beach. Bad idea.
