Just like the L9, it's a shame that the heat fins are perpendicular to the RAM.

Any possibility of a comparison of the M2 with newly released Antec Performance 1M, subjectively the Antec looks better but not sure how it performs vs the M2, will be great to see your take on it.

This video finally solves my sff questions , cases like terra might be super compact..but cooling isn't as good as that of nr200 ncase M2 , making the perfect sff size to be 17 - 20 litres. The coming ncase M2 168 will be a banger, more parts compatibility. Thanks for this video.

A better comparison would have been to compare it to coolers in its own size class. Like the L9a, AXP90-X36, IS-37-XT, and maybe even the Pure Rock LP.

I've found with my system which has an R9 5950X and an RTX 4070Ti Super, I can still have slim fans at the bottom as intake if I set them to a static speed of about 40 or 50 percent. They don't clash too much with the airflow being pulled in from the top radiator fans so there isn't as much turbulence. I'm sure having top exhaust and bottom exhaust is probably still better but thermals don't seem too bad where I have them right now. 40-50c idle temps and about 60-65c under most gaming loads. Cinebench R23 seems to be peaking about 70-80, which honestly I can live with quite comfortably.

what is the point in comparing it to is-55 or axp90x47 full copper coolers? they are obviously much better in heat dissipation. a comparison between axp90x36 and noctua l9a with this cooler would be much more interesting and useful
@kotztotz3530Күн бұрын
Agreed :) though I still think it's useful for the 47, but there's zero point (imo) to include the IS-55. They're totally different weight classes
@yensteelКүн бұрын
Agreed, it's usually better to prioritize a close alternative and then expand outwards for a frame of reference. I guess M&M wanted to focus on how much of a difference a taller cooler makes and by how much here, instead of showing what is the best ≤40mm cooler. Sometimes, a new short cooler could punch above its weight(height) class like the IS55 being closer to the Noctua L9S than expected. That didn't seem to happen here. It seems to be better than the Scythe Kozuti at least. That was their older 40mm tall cooler.

I actually quite liked SFF, And did a SFF build one time 15 years ago, But what out me off it was all the GPU scalpers, and the fact that it was hard to find the Small Form GPU's, cases and other parts here in Australia especially if you were into doing White or Silver builds (which I do still like very much). Its still pretty much the same situation now.

Would be interesting to see how it performs inside a really small case (sub 5L such as a k39 or Velka 3), in my opinion that’s the actual use case for it, there should be no reason whatsoever to choose this cooler over a 47mm< if you have a Terra or any other case that can fit a 47mm cooler.

@tristanmcdonald74802 күн бұрын
Interesting cooler, had my eyes on it for a while and was wondering why there were no reviews. Comparing it to a 47mm class seems a bit unfair, when you had the 37mm thermal right and noctua coolers which this is targeted at. Also note it includes screws to use a 25 mm case fan, would be neat to see if that makes any appreciable performance gains by using a full size kaze flex 2 92mm fan.
@web-dev-spiderКүн бұрын
I'm curious about this too, and I think replacing it with a 25T fan would be a fair comparison as it would be similar in height. I want to see how it goes with Noctua NF-A9 and Thermalright TL-B9 as well.

@robertmoore1192 күн бұрын
The narrator momentarily mentioned lowering volts. Lowering volts can have the effect of reducing max clocks. However, sometimes, depending on the chip, you can actually achieve max clocks with reduced amp draw, or lower amps. But that depends on which chip you have. Better chips draw fewer watts.
@MY-qi8wq2 күн бұрын
Would you be interested to test how it'll perform if you seal up the sides of the fan? I still find it hard to believe it'll actually bring a cooling benefit. The only possible explanation I have is that it reduces air recirculation, which should be the job of a fan duct instead.
@MachinesMore2 күн бұрын
I think it will work slightly better, however the concern will be turbulent noise since with a cooler this low the motherboard is only a few mm away. Scythe's internal testing may have shown an unacceptable level of interference noise from a regular fan, otherwise there wouldn't be a meaningful reason for them to modify it.

@apieceofcrap87942 күн бұрын
well its not compatible with am5 out of the box Other 45 to 47mm coolers have come out that offer similar performance while being cheaper, better motherboard compatibility, and more available However no one has beaten the black ridge when it comes to a balance between cooling and noise levels This has to due mostly with the fan being mounted on the bottom. with the 14mm thin 92mm noctua fan and a 1mm spacer, the fan avoid wind turbulance, while other coolers have the fan on top meaning the fan is directly against the side, which then increases turbulence

I use the thermalright peerless assassin 120 (bequiet light wing fan swap), paired with the thermalright contact frame to cool my 9800x3d, paired with a 7900xtx at 4k. If i do a pure undervolt i see temps 45-50c during long gaming sessions. If i do an undervolt+5.4 overclock i see a small jump up to 55-60c. At undervolt+5.7 overclock i see 65-70c. I once seen it hit 80 during timespy, at 100% utilization, but its almost guaranteed you will never see that kind of utilization or temps during gaming. Edit, all of these temps were with my ambient temp around 75-80F.

I think people are getting confused by what this case means. They aren't trying to do anything crazy different and replace right-handed desk setups. As someone who had to rearrange their desk setup and move my case to the right side to use the glass panel and block the office door and make my desk/room feel closed in, THIS is what I want to see more of. I know we have the O11 cases that can be reversed with some work, the Tower series, and be quiet has a few as well, but I much prefer this layout that comes ready to go without taking everything apart. I do wish the temps were a bit better and that they would've included (or release in the future) a replacement front panel that allows for 3x120mm or 2x140mm fans, as I feel like using the AIO in exhaust is pulling air away from the "front" or bottom of the GPU before it can pull in any cold air from the bottom intake fans. Idk. I love my Lancool 216, but I would love to be able to free up the right side of my desk again and this looks like a real contender for me.

Like I said before: If u play benchmarks the entire time uising a "gaming cpu". Yeah... Those small coolers will st ruggle hard. But If u just play ur games u will never struggle with these things. I'm using the 9800X3D with my 4070 Super in the Fractal Terra and the CPU temps in games never hiots the 70°C. Maybe the summer is coming here in europe. But there is enough headroom. I mean no suprise if u constantly hit 120 (without co more like 140) watts through such small coolers, that they get hot :)
