Best Part of Ostiones. The "How It was before in the palm recall". But Please Please. Avoid that music when no talking.. The emotion goes down with it.

Hi Casey! Do you have a Tintillo tree 🌲. This is a tree that we use to decorate during Christmas with manual ornaments. Unfortunately this is a tradition that is almost forgotten. Search about it I know you will love it. Happy New Year!

LQM

Are there any nurseries, that sell fruit trees in PR?
@LifeTransPlanetКүн бұрын
Hi Juan! Yes, this one sells fruit trees, and my favorite is Jardines Eneida in Cabo Rojo. Also try the agro-pulgueros like in San Sebastian.

@LifeTransPlanetКүн бұрын
Saludos Gladys!

Even though that folklore Country Music from Puerto Rico is mostly played on Christmas Time, it should be played any time during the year, as it isn't Christmas music per se, but Country Music (Musica Jibara). Other beautiful music that was very popular during Christmas is the music of "Tunas". (Choral music accompanied by mandolins, guitars and "panderetas".) However, in the last two decades I've heard a much less about Tuna's music, but hope this lovely tradition doesn't fade awyay. 😢

I live in Puerto Rico, and this is the first time I have heard about lerenes. I would like to try them sometime.
@LifeTransPlanetКүн бұрын
I was surprised to learn about them too! And that they are a native food that even the Tainos ate! I really liked them (minus the skin). I thought they tasted a little like artichoke hearts which I LOVE! We planted some of the tubers we dug up, so I hope to keep eating them. I have never seen them at the markets, but try Desde Mi Huerto for the bulbs. Even if you have a small patio you could plant some and then eat them next year!

Why you all don't have solar on every house??? Only need 1000 watts of panels and a fairly large battery bank...
@LifeTransPlanetКүн бұрын
Might be a good back up, but solar is very expensive and tech stuff like batteries break down very fast in the tropics (humidity, high UV, salt spray, Saharan dust, etc etc). When the price goes down we'll probably get a small back up system.

How do i handle long term outages; last minute flight to one of the mainland homes i own. Lol
@breakthrough86285 күн бұрын
Fyi, gas propane etc is illegal in any community that has multi family dwellings, even if u have a single family home w neighbors w multifam homes. If an explosion occurs ur insurance will not cover u and u will be personally liable for all damages. Areas w only single family homes may be avle to use propane but u better check w the authorities and ur insurance carrier first
@LifeTransPlanet4 күн бұрын
I have not heard of that! Many people I know have gas stoves even in condos! Of course in PR, most people also don't carry home insurance either so there's that. I personally am happy we have a gas stove. It would be so much harder without propane in PR.
@breakthrough86285 күн бұрын
Fyi, we hate the outages. I have two tesla powerwall batteries in my beach villa. Lasts 5 days w ac running. After the 3rd day we turned all ac off just in case luma dont get it restored. It sucks!

I am Puerto Rican and live in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. My husband and I are also plant based, we eat at home most of the time because we don’t cook with oil, not even olive oil. Like you we eat what we want when we eat at restaurants including meat. It’s not what you eat occasionally that matters, it’s what you do most days that makes a difference.
@LifeTransPlanet14 күн бұрын
Exactly! You understand it. Oil is such a high fat item that I rarely use it, but in order to pan fry an egg or something we have to use something and I prefer something real (butter or coconut oil) as opposed to something fake like margarine and "vegetable oils" which are not good at all for our bodies. For meat, I just listen to my body, most of the time it does better without it but sometimes it asks for it and I listen. Thanks Wanda!
