If you already have a bag of sterilized substrate you can just mix in the grain spawn and let them grow inside the bag.

If my pressure cooker only goes to 12psi how many hours do i run it for? Do i out any water in bottom of pressure cooker? Or just sit the bag ontop the metal stand in bottom? Also did u just fold before u put in pressure cooker? Sorry so many questions love the video though
@MotherMycelium8 күн бұрын
I would recommend 2.5-3 hours depending on how full the pressure cooker is packed. There are some good charts online that you can reference for sterilization times at certain temperatures (or pressures). You will absolutely need water in the pressure cooker. You need to make sure you have enough water so that is does not run dry during the sterilization cycle. I just fold the bag and then put it in the pressure cooker. You can seal the bag before you sterilize it but you might find that some of them will pop during sterilization.

Hey I really love your channel and I have a question. I have 2 grow bags that are mixed and pinning. I have a grow tent 24"x24"x36" and I have shelves and light to put them both out into fruiting conditions. (never used the tent). I cannot afford a humidity system. Can I just get hydrated perlite in a tray and spray the side walls for humidity for the 2 bags?? Keep up with the good work thanks!!!
@MotherMycelium12 күн бұрын
It depends on the variety of mushrooms you are growing but do not need any humidity system - especially if it is just for two bags. You can either "top fruit" the mushrooms directly in the bag or you can cut a slit in the side of the bag and use a plastic container or another plastic bag as a humidity tent. You can just use a spray bottle of water and spray as needed for humidity. Check out the humidity tent I use in the video for an example: kzbin.infoX-4NY0Nx44c

Hello, new subscriber here! Im hoping you could answer my question. I've got a 10 pound all in 1 growbag & 1cc of LC,& 50 qt monotub. When I inject the bag, wait for colonization to start mixing the contents throughly together. Can I at this stage just place the contents into the bottom of my monotub with a bottom & open once daily gently misting the lid & sides to grow? My friend has grown for yrs & never used a monotub with holes or anything but I was thinking if I just left contents in the bag I wouldnt get nearly the yeild as if I transferred them to a monotub. Thank you so much for your input🤗🍄
@MotherMycelium16 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! You could definitely transfer your all in one bag to a monotub since 10lbs is a lot for a grow bag. These days I tend to just fruiting the mushrooms inside the grow bag though. There is much less risk for contamination and typically you won't even need to open the bag to mist (depending on the type of bag and variety of mushrooms) because the filter patch does a great job of allowing air exchange while keeping in humidity.
@rodmondh16 күн бұрын
@MotherMycelium Nice Thank you for helping me I think I'm going to just stick with leaving them in the bag so I've got some guaranteed fruit to eat & then transfer the contents to the bin & take my chances with flushing a possible bigger yield in there!

I recommend using LC to inoculate grain
@rodmondh18 күн бұрын
Simple & to the point! I was wondering how necessary it was to drill holes & everything in the monotubs I mean as long as you daily let fresh air in & mist the sides well it seems unnecessary to me. Unless you simply can't be bothered with the hard task of opening a lid😂
@MotherMycelium18 күн бұрын
Yeah typically all the holes and intricate setup is not necessary. These days I am just using 14A filter patch bags and I don't even mist or fan or open the bag at all until harvest. I like to keep it as simple as possible.
@rodmondh18 күн бұрын
@MotherMycelium Wow that's awesome to know! I'm starting my 1st grow this week & don't know if I should do this or not but, I have 1cc of LC & a 10 pound ready grow bag with 14A patch & was going to inject,wait,mix,& then transfer to 50qt monotub for fruiting? I hope this will work properly. I figured I'd have much better yield in a tub than a bag multiple times. Unless I'm mistaken?

@FuresøSvampeApS22 күн бұрын
Hello Mother Mycelium. Thank you for the video. Perhaps you could help us with a question regarding this method - I tried your recipe here with millet, but since we had growbags a little bigger, I upped the grams, so it would be 2000g in total. I was very precis in measuring up, weighting and calculating. But, when I mixed the millet and the water, it seemed very wet, almost like "water with millet" and not the other way around. After pressurecooking they seem a little better, but still very wet? Is this suppose to be this way? Could there be a difference as to which kind of millet you use? Thanks in advance for answering.
@MotherMycelium19 күн бұрын
After pressure cooking there should not be any excess water left in the bag. All of the water should be soaked in to the grains. As a general rule, I am going for 35% moisture content for grain spawn. For example for a 2000g bag of spawn I'd use 700g (or ml) of water and 1300g of millet (or any whole grain)

once i inoculate my jars, do i have to use micropore tape over the injection port hole
@MotherMycelium24 күн бұрын
Yes you can use micropore tape but I would recommend using adhesive filter patches in stead. They are more reliable for keeping out contamination, allow for plenty of gas exchange, they are also hydrophobic. You can also use adhesive injection ports for another layer of protection

Can you show how to grow amanita mus. I bout a syringe bu I’m being told the normal way won’t work
@MotherMycelium25 күн бұрын
I do not have any experience growing Amanita mushrooms. Amanita muscaria is a mycorrhizal variety and those are notoriously difficult to cultivate.
@KuaEtus25 күн бұрын
I recommend you NOT to do this, the substrate must be sterilized and remain sterile. Contamination in your process can lead to the proliferation of harmful mushrooms. For example Amanita Phalloides is really similar to eatable mushrooms, but if you eat one of those you are 💀 in 2 days. Please don't do this kind of thing without doing research.
@MotherMycelium25 күн бұрын
Sure, you always need to carefully identify any mushroom you are going to consume. However, wine cap mushrooms are very commonly cultivated on non-sterile substrates and have very distinct identification characteristics.
@KuaEtus25 күн бұрын
@MotherMycelium Agreed, i just want to mention this for people who might start cultivating other kinds of mushrooms that are not easily recognizable. Thank you for your response 👍🏻
@Lock48420 күн бұрын
I agree you need to identify every mushroom grown this way, but if someone was to mistake this with an amanita, they shouldn't be eating any mushrooms anyway 😂😂. Seriously, the color of a wine cap is different, the color of the gills is different, the leg is much thicker, there's no ring on it, and amanitas grow out of this sort of sack in the ground, I'm not sure what you call it in English, it's called a "chalice of 💀" in my language 👀😂😂, so in my opinion, it's an entirely different looking mushroom ☺️

In general, saprophytic mushrooms can be grown this way. Mycorrhizal fungi are much more tricky, since they require roots of certain tree species to grow. I bought some parasol mushrooms mycelium, and had a few come up this year, I'm hoping for even better next season 🤗

@MotherMycelium28 күн бұрын
Just place your block back into fruiting conditions after harvest. Sometimes the block will fail to produce a second flush if the substrate dries out a bit where you harvested the first batch. If this happens you can try taping up the first slit and cut a new one. Thanks for watching!
