Hi! I am sorry, for the delayed reply. Somehow your question slipped through my notifications. But yes, the friction zone for my VN900 was also the somewhere in the first 1/4-1/3 of the clutch handle's range (the furthest away from the handle/grip). You can try adjusting the tension cable that could bring in the friction zone. I have a video about how to do that in my clutch slipping fix. Hope this helps? 😊

Great video which has given me the courage to try it. I have one question. Should I keep the master cylinder reservoir screwed in so the fluid doesn’t get all over the place? Thanks again
@ManCalledHorse8 ай бұрын
You can just keep the cover resting on top. But If you screwed it in, it's like putting your hand at the end of a hose and create it's own vacuum at the top not allowing the air to help the brake fluid exit the bottom. Hope that helps and thanks for the watch and question!

Great video very easy to follow instructions. Would it make the process faster if you were to syphon or suck out some of the fluid from the reservoir and putting new stuff in before starting the bleeding process?
@ManCalledHorse10 ай бұрын
One, thanks for watching and the feedback. Two, There is a suction device that can pump the brake fluid through . That totally an option. BUT (a big but) don't use your mouth, that stuff is super, super toxic and corrosive (it will eat your paint is in seconds). I wouldn't use your mouth for safety reasons, but you can use this method or the brake fluid pump. 😊

I have a 2018 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700 and at the freeway over 60-70MPH the RPM's rev high, but the speed goes up slowly. Bike is only 7,000 miles, but I did a lot of slow speed practice. Do you think could be same issue? Burned clutch?
@ManCalledHorse Жыл бұрын
It does sound like your bike is heading in that direction of a clutch change. Same symptoms. I have a video about trying to tighten the clutch cable. I would try that first to see if that fixes your issue. It does sound like your clutch is slipping to some degree. If your clutch continues to slip or worsens after tightening the clutch cable, then you're most likely looking at the clutch replacement. Hope this helps!
@ricardok5593 Жыл бұрын
@@ManCalledHorse in my case, slipping at high RPM's, it was the clutch. It was worn out. Replace is easier tough, because this bike does not have cooling lines on the cover, the water pump is on the other side Your video is good, teach about what to expect. Good job.

So, what if I made a mistake a rode like I normally do, unaware of the break in period, but I only did it a few times, am I ok ? I rode with new brakes and they still sounded like metal on metal. I rode it like I normally do for only about 15 minutes, and then I started trying to follow the directions of 50mph, 40pmh, and so on. It's been less than 10 miles and they still sound like metal on metal, is that normal ?
@ManCalledHorse Жыл бұрын
The grinding sound is most likely your brakes forming to your rotors. This can happen and you might smell a weird odor from your new brakes. It is just everything settling in . But if you hear a loud squealing and it is hard to brake (as if they are not biting (gripping) as hard as they should) you might have glazed your rotors. The easy fix for that is cleaning your rotors. I have a video for changing brakes which I clean the rotors. I hope this helps!
