Years ago, I knew a guy who was a HS woodshop teacher. He told me that one of the things he regularly did was shop garage sales for routers. He had well over a dozen, and back then you could find used for cheap.. He told me that it was much more efficient for him to keep his regularly used bits chucked up and ready to roll. I suppose it's like any other tool; if you get regular use out of it, then it's worth the investment.

If you don’t mind old equipment Delta/Rockwell or Powermatic have some very nice 20” bandsaws from the early 70s to late 80s and have a 12” resaw capacity. My 28-350 Rockwell is a monster I completely rebuilt from the ground up. You could also go older with something like a 36” crescent saw that is massive. I don’t really have much experience with new equipment but I hear Laguna makes one hell of a bandsaw!

@@justinbyers1441 even if they need to be rebuilt replacing bearings and pulleys etc is very easy. If anything like a drive shaft or wheel shaft needs to be re trued small mom and pop machine shops are a tremendous resource. My upper wheel shaft had a a groove worn it from the set screw so I had it welded back up and machined down to spec. Can’t even tell it was there.
