I've read the average adult has seen 5,000 movies. I've seen fewer than 100. This one is incredible. What I loved so much is that the good guys weren't all good, and the bad guys weren't all bad. Rather than define them so sharply, King wrote a story that said "No, she's not a likeable person, but you wouldn't be either. And here's why..." The investigator wasn't a bad man, he had just lost sight of the big picture, obsessed with winning. The Academy Awards recently added an Oscar for "Casting". I can't imagine how this film could have been better cast.

All fans of the pinball table based on this movie can surely pick out all the lines from the movie within but “Keep the ball, I have a whole bucket full” has to be my favourite (that line plays when you get your extra ball ready to shoot) and second favourite “Straight to the vault!” (The ball lock is ready)

Did you ever take an American history that covered the 1920s and 1930s? If you did you should know Shoeless Joe Jackson is a real person. You don’t need to know anything about baseball. It seems everyone forgets that the characters who Iowan were not admirable characters. Kevin Costner starred in Dances With Wolves and Bull Durham.

Thanks!! Yeah, re: American History classes I’ve had, we always started off the term on schedule but by the end the wheels had come off the wagon, and we never made it very far into the 20th century. I’ve always been interested in history outside of the classroom as well, but admittedly the 20s and 30s are not periods that I’ve spent a lot of time researching.

As others have said Ed Gamble is a future contestant and hosts the official Taskmaster podcast which he started in the 2020 lockdown with the season which was on at the time and then backdated it right back to season 1 Ed also hosts another great podcast Off Menu with James Acaster (another future contestant) which is very much worth a listen if you like podcasts, a lot of the other contestants have been guests on it too, Aisling and Nish definitely have!

your explanation of why taskmaster works is so correct and you're so intelligent for seeing it. its amazing how no one else has managed to see it, especially within the first 2 series of it yet you got it in 5, to which I am extremely proud. Taskmaster is indeed successful because of the tasks and the talent it has on the show. You wouldn't expect that from a show called taskmaster I know, but that's the truth of it. If there was s**t people doing the tasks also, it just wouldnt be entertaining, so the people doing them have to be very talented to make it funny. You sure hit the nail on the head. Such big American brain.

I've never had marmite, but as an Aussie, I grew up with Vegemite, and it's the kind of spread that everyone has their own way of eating. It's very salty, so personally, I spread it very thinly with LOTS of margerine/butter and usually melted on toast. Most people from the states treat it like peanut butter and put wayyyyyyyyy too much on when they try it for the first time.

And would you believe it, Sally is a Christian? I mean, a real believer in her faith. I don't mean an Evangelical Christian like the American ones that control the Republican party. She's even a minister. The Anglican Church said if she became a vicar in the Church she wouldn't be allowed to marry her lesbian friends, so she became one through the Universalist Life Church.

@DavidvsFilm you know how people will say "he (or she) is a good CHRISTIAN man/woman," the emphasis on "Christian" as though that's what defines good, or makes someone good? Well, I always say, and I think it's very true in Sally's case, that it should be "She's a GOOD Christian women." There's nothing wrong with faith, only when you use your faith to hurt others or be cruel.

If you don't want to know how the alternate ending to _Final Destination_ differs from the theatrical release, then stop reading! I rewatched this film recently, which was a very poignant experience given the recent air disasters. For the first time, I watched the deleted scenes and _alternate ending._ This ending diverges markedly from the theatrical release's ending. These scenes also give a somewhat different spin to the story. One huge difference is that Alex is actually killed when he saves Clear. He dies like he did in his vision. I have to say I sort of prefer that difference because it's tragically ironic. It also addresses the issue of Alex potentially being in trouble over Ms. Lewton's death and some other things.

As cool as the events of Beyond the Wall are, I hate that episode. It makes some of the biggest leaps in convenience and ignores distance to a point that is disgusting. More time should have passed for Gendry to get back, convey the message, have it sent to Dany, have her travel back...I mean, we're talking at least a day if not more. At least have the survivors holed up in a more defendable position that makes sense for them to be able to hold out. It's just lazy writing and it sucks because the premise is so good.

If I saw their faces, I would still believe! How did Ra know he was choosing comely humans considering he (and presumably his species) looked like a potato? Spader did a great job considering he had to sell some wild stuff and was kind of a jerk in terms of his actions. “Yes I can translate!” “BRB, going to resurrect my wife and no one else, wait for me in the crossfire.” Loved this movie growing up! I’m not a fan of the “aliens built the pyramids” myth for a number of reasons. But this was a fun twist on that where the aliens were “gods,” which is hard to resist for someone who finds Ancient Egypt to be so cool.
