If you’re looking for something compact and battery powered, then def the Mixstream Pro; otherwise, sc live 4 is the better of the bunch. 👌 hope that helps.

Can I simply put my mp3 that are on my laptop, directly on to I usb stick or the micro dd card and simply mix like this for now? I have old laptop and probably won’t be able to install engine dj to create playlist Like if I do the above, put regular songs on sub stick, will live 4 read probably and let me mix them? No laptop No engine dj No creating playlists Or importing Just usb stick regular mp3 plug and play? You say this so live 4 is a bit cheap looking and feel compared to prime 4 and others. How cheap would you say it looks and feels, in person? And is the overall experience, good enough to overlook this? Lastly, will the built in speakers give me a reasonable mixing experience, in my bedroom? I’m not expecting the world, heavy bass, loud etc but will it be enough? I’m so tempted to buy sc live 4 but I really don’t want to possibly feel let down.

So yes, speakers are perfectly capable of giving you sound to practice in your bedroom. And yes, you can either prepare a USB stick in Engine DJ with the music you’d like on the system and plug it in to one of the USB slots. Otherwise you can also plug your computer in and it will work with either Serato or virtual DJ. 👌 hope that helps. Enjoy your unit!

@@jesilam thanks for your reply. Sorry to be a pain, so I can’t simply put mp3 on usb and plug and play? I don’t have modern laptop to prepare the songs in engine dj Or do you mean I can put mp3 on stick from old laptop, plug in sc live 4 and then I’ll have to mess about to be able to mix? Or it will analyse songs and be ready to mix? I’m not bothered about creating actual playlists for now. Simple plug and play will be enough.

@@grahamkelly8662 as far as I know, yes, you can plug and play music onto the system with any USB drive with mp3 files. It will take longer to analyze. However, you will need Engine D.j. to organize your playlist and music; that being said you don’t even need a USB drive as you can also stream music through various platforms and organize your playlist in your streaming platform. Hope that helps.

@@jesilam ah, thank you. I really appreciate it. Yes, I’m probably going to get amazon music unlimited. I’ve just spent £250 on vinyl albums and cd compilations from my teens. I just found an incredible artist and I bought all his albums. Cd and vinyl and I’m so excited to probably take a chance on the sc live 4 because I need to mix this new music, right away and get back to mixing my beautiful music like the old days . I’m even going to use sc live4 in my garden and over local park. I pray it just feels good to mix on and I’ll be away. You’re possibly not interested but I’m going to leave the Title of the best Album out of the bunch I bought, from the new artist. It’s incredibly beautiful. If you like mesmerising melodies and beautiful vocals that you may not expect, you may love it just as much as me, Album is called Chasing Euphoria by M Huncho If you are open to a listen, just please check out track 2 first called S/o To My X I swear to god I played it on repeat for an hour. I know I'm late to the party, but after realizing during my last gig that the Numark NVII is just way too much for what I ACTUALLY need, I decided to sell it and got myself the Numark Mixstream Pro+. The Plus model sits right in between the Pro and the Pro Go, with the ONLY addition being Amazon Music streaming. Still though, it's almost 200€ cheaper than the Pro Go. Let me just say, this thing absolutely ROCKS!! Even as a semi-professional wedding DJ, there's no need for me to get a Prime 4+ or some other overpriced piece of equipment, when the Mixstream offers all I'll ever need (and so much more). The big jogwheels are a blessing over the small, laggy wheels on the NVII. They were always one of my main gripes. Also, even though the NVII offers dual screens for better mixing experience, you could never actually beatmatch visually since the left screen only shows the left waveform and the right screen only the right. Last but not least, like most other professional controllers out there, it still requires a laptop for it to work. With the Mixstream being a standalone unit, I just threw my entire library onto a 512 GB USB stick. The hardest part was analizing all the tracks in the engine dj desktop app, but after about 6 hours, I just had to put it into my Mixstream and had instant access to all my tracks - including BPM, beat grids and waveforms. This combo is as portable as it gets. Being able to leave my laptop at home and just use the controller as a standalone unit not only means it's one less thing to carry around, it also means I can finally focus more on the crowd and don't need to stare at a laptop screen all the time - which, let's be honest, was one of the reasons why controller DJs got laughed at for so many years. Bottom line: Characterizing the Mixstream as a simple "backup" device is an absolute understatement. I really don't know why so many youtubers put it that way. For us mobile DJs, this is the portable all-in-one solution we always dreamed about. While standalone controllers existed for a long time now, the Mixstream really took the concept to the next level. Yes, there are far superior engine controllers out there, but those are all heavy-duty and definitely not "portable" by any means. Also, the Prime Go gets a lot of praise from the DJ community, but I still think with the slightly bigger form factor and the huge jogwheels, the Mixstream is still the winner here.

If a battery operated unit is what you’re interested in, the Numark Mixstream ProGo is the way to go… however, in my opinion, as far as quality, the Denon PrimeGo is still superior. That being said, Alpha Theta is releasing the Omnus Duo which seems to be next level. Otherwise skip the SC live 2 and go to the SC live4 for a better unit.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, I did have to update the firmware on the controller. It seemed to be fine when I tried it out in my studio. But when I put it through its paces at a gig, it would freeze up and I’d continually had to reboot software on iPad. What a nightmare. Thankfully I had a backup during the downtime. I haven’t really taken it out since the update. Hopefully this resolves the issues. 👌

Prime 4 plus is good choice also, I’d you want more effects and no speakers Apart from the fact you can plug 2 turntables and 2 cd’j at same time, i think sc live 4 seems better , in every way. Sc live 4 is about £1000 Prime 4 plus £2000 Sc live 4 speakers could be great in certain situations. You could easily do a midnight mix low and not annoy neighbours. Sure you could also use proper speakers and keep them low but there’s always the temptation to go louder and have neighbours banging on door, in middle of night 😭 Sc live 4 has less effects then prime 4 plus but the main 1’s are like pioneer, east to reach, better for mixing. Then you have the sweep effects and even though I’ve not used my 1210’s and pioneer djm600 for many years, I remember using Reverb Echo Fanger? Sc live 4 has these as sweep affects east to reach and I guess much easier and quicker to execute in mix then messing about with knobs and buttons. Personally I think the extra million effects on prime 4 plus will probably be rubbish in comparison and they are at back of unit and they may be awkward to access and that is not ideal . Not only this but I have 1210’s and mixer already and knowing my luck, if I spend £2000 on prime 4 plus, £300 plus on speakers, then I hook up 1 1210 on either either side, what the hell do I do when I want to mix left vinyl with right vinyl and because they so far apart, may again feel awkward. Now of course, I could set it all up and be fine but considering the sc live 4 has many benefits, I have most vinyl ripped to mo3 anyway and it’s only £1000 not £2000 , and connecting turntable might be awkward, I might just get sc live 4 My main worry is that mixing will feel poor compared to 1210 turntable and I worry because I’ve never done digital before.

Keep in mind that the SC Live series are stand-alone controllers, no laptop needed and the Rev series is not; also keep in mind that the layout of the controllers are different between those controllers. Rev series are laid out more for the turntablist and the SCLive for the controllerist. 👌

My question is, do you know what is the lifecycle of the rechargeable battery of the prime go until it eventually dies? I mean, would it be 2 to 5 years time? I like the design and all but I am just worried about the longevity of the battery.

Well, I've had my Prime GO for almost 3 years now and the battery is still good. I imagine you can get more than a couple years use out of the battery. These lithium batteries are pretty good these days. I wouldn't worry to much about it. And either way, you can plug these in if the battery ever dies.

nice review. a couple of questions. Are you going to use a soft case with it or get some odyssey thing? Secondly are you going to use virtual Dj with it since the Denon Engine doesnt have stems. Thanks

I suspect stems are coming in an upcoming update. And this will most likely travel with me in a soft case. 😉

The stems need a good CPU processor, otherwise they are of little use and don't do their job well. I think they will need to implement a powerful enough processor first. For now, personally, the best stems are those of serato dj pro, but you need to have a good PC with a good CPU processor.

@@Pascal_IU8CEW True. The reality though is that this is not a "club" unit and doesn't really need stems. It would be cool to have and I do believe it will eventually come to these units. But this particular unit is not really made for the professional DJ, although we can certainly put it through the ringer and have fun with it... plus it makes a great back up unit. But if mixing with stems is something you really want to do, you can prepare your mixes with acapellas and instrumentals from a good record pool. OR you can use Neural Mix Pro, (which is the one I think does the best job), and prepare them ahead of time.

I am new to all of this. Prime Go or Mixstream Pro. Also, is the Mix Stream Pro + worth upgrading from the original version for Amazon Music for $220 more?

The Prime GO is an amazing unit. Compact and battery powered. As of now, there is nothing in the market like it. It's great for on the go and as a back up unit. As far as the Mixstream pro, it works of the same operating system, is NOT battery powered and also larger with traditional looking platters and such. The Mixstream Pro is great for beginners and has decent built in speakers for practicing with -it's also only two channels (like the PrimeGo). That being said, if you want to take it to the next level, the SCLive4 is comparable to the Prime 4 with 4 channels and built in speakers. Not as robust as the Prime 4, but still a pretty solid unit. Hope that helps. (As far as Amazon Music, I believe the only system that supports their streaming service is the SCLIVE4, that can change with a future update however.)

The Mixstream is a good unit; but if you have the extra cash, the SC2 would be the better console. If you are a more seasoned DJ, you’ll find the SC2/4 has a better feel to it. The Mixstream is geared to the beginner DJ. And yes, stand-alone is the way to go! ☺️

The SClive series def has better speakers than the Numark. Otherwise, go by your local music store and put your hands on them and see which you like best. I tend to lean on the Denon products but they both have the same operating systems. 👌

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed initially with the feature, as you were only able to stream one song at a time on the Amazon streaming service. However, it seems that after the last update, it seems to have been corrected and we are now able to mix between streams. It does take a bit to load. But once buffered, you're good to go, I'd definitely recommend this unit as a less expensive version of the Prime 4; but if you have the extra $, def go for the Prime 4 and you won't be disappointed. I am currently on the hunt for a good flight case for the SCLive4, but have been unable to get my hands on one. Anyhow, hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching my video!

@@jesilamhi, I know you may already have a flight case for sc love 4 or maybe even sold it by now it I just thought I’d let you know that Amazon sell them for sc live 4. I’m in U.K. and it costs about £90. I’m sure US amazon will have them for about $120. Little expensive for what it is but that’s how the world is and to be honest, after the initial annoyance of spending that much on a case, you always feel glad you did so. Protect the valuable equipment and keeps it clean.
