The CVM is responsible for all storage and management operations in the cluster, such as replicating traffic, managing metadata, performing data efficiency (compression etc.) and more. It also runs all of the web services that allow you to interact with Prism Element GUI, CLI or API for the cluster. The CVM memory can be tuned after deployment but I guess it was decided that 20GB suits most CE users.

For the errors, you can set a custom password in the commercial version of Nutanix AHV, or just search for "Nutanix Modifying the Default Password" and you should find all the password change steps. The Nutanix Security Guide is a great place to start. Regarding the custom cloud-init configuration, please search for "Cloud Config Examples Including Users and Groups". All Laura is doing here is just specifying a user and an allowed SSH public key so she can log into the cloud image. By default, the cloud image doesn't allow ANY logins unless you pass this custom file.

Thanks for reaching out! If you're creating a single node cluster and configure two CVM drives and two data drives you can run the cluster create script with --redundancy_factor=2 to configure data resilience. No need for additional RAID config.

Nutanix does not allow this. but a cheap hosting and domain name and use the cpanel built in email

It's in the instructions on the Nutanix support portal. But basically when you get to the CVM command line to build the cluster, instead of doing it for 1 node, you input a line with the other nodes details and off you go.

@@santhakumarsk6871 If this works in CE this will only work for adding 1 node to an exiting 3 node cluster, not adding 2 nodes. I suspect it won't work at CE doesn't have the IPMI access of the full nutanix product.
