Nutanix Multicloud Snapshot Technology (NMST) enables the use of sending AOS snapshots from any Nutanix based cluster to S3 with the use of Nutanix DR. Snapshots that are not regularly accessed or applications that don’t need low recovery time (RTO) objectives could be offloaded to free up performance and capacity from the primary storage infrastructure.
With the use of NMST running on a minimum 3 node NC2 cluster(pilot cluster), NMST will redirect the AOS snapshots to S3. At the time of recovery, snapshots can be recovered to the NC2 cluster or back to the primary site if a healthy Nutanix cluster is available. If additional space is needed to recover the S3 based snapshots to the NC2 cluster you can simply add more nodes to the NC2 cluster from the NC2 portal or use the NC2 portal API.
