Wow~so glad I found this video. I’d picked up Man’s Search For Meaning on my Navy ship… and picked it up to read intuitively my first days in a wheelchair (that lasted for a year)… that book helped me so much and I frequently think of it, the beautiful lessons for all of life. 💜 talk about turning a terribly difficult test/torture into a testimony! I wish the whole world would read that little book 📕

This word logothreopy has two components one is logos PERHAPS and second is treatment kind thus becomes self treatment kind of thing or self discovery , ASSESSMENT, observation kind of things becomes a quest rather a question. Thanks a lot great video. In our discussions with some friends Victor Frankel kind of name cited in our student life. Now saw the video and salute this personality stating that meaning of life is not object or essence but much more than that. Thanks again.

Viktor Frankl’s understand of meaning as purposed for others, highlights the essence, beauty and function of humanity itself. Frankl explanation of “meaning” as intuitive, is by far the most empowering realization and capacity of human “perfection”. Brilliantly beautiful as God himself. And to think this is the essence of our nature, purpose and meaning, is enough to wake each day in awe and enthusiasm, while embracing our limits and death as equal in part of our meaningful existence. Thank you Dr. Frankl

But the big problem with logotherapy is that the vast majority of adults derive "meaning" from the system of which they are citizens of. The lust for money, property, and power (domination), as well as the "automatic" subservience to conventional authority figures, ensures a lasting, stable population of insulated~from~reality adults. How does logotherapy work through all the deeply embedded "meanings" that a society furnishes and separate the individual from the herd? It runs the risk of bringing up an intolerable anxiety that stunted, undeveloped adults would not be in a position to handle because extracting individuals from their own society to face the unpredictable vastness of human existence with all the potential possibilities for making judgments and then decide to act on a single direction, is perhaps available to either young children or matured adults~rare
@anon8730
@anon8730 Жыл бұрын
Sir, logotherapy isn't the problem. Everyone in life is in a different stage en everyone derives meaning from something else. And the meaning changes over the course of life. We can only focus on ourself en our journey and what gives us meaning. Ps, Meaning can come from first being influenced by people you look up to when you're young. More driven by ego later in life or through circumstances you look for deeper meaning, meaning that feeds the soul

@@anon8730 The meaning Frankl adapted to in the concentration camp is similar to the meaning most adults adapt to in their society. But neither the (German nazi) concentration camps nor (american) society offers the conditions for individuals to thrive in. I am NOT implying that american society is the equivalent the nazi concentration camps! There is a human nature, and the main question is whether a society provides optnor conditions for human well being or not. Hope this clarifies.

Why are you turning off comments on your videos? It's (correctly) recognized that somebody that is afraid to allow feedback is engaging in propaganda. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLaapucoqmcZq8 You realize that many of the medical establishment there were held accountable, don't you? Although die Weiße Rose was not successful directly, they were successful ultimately. Surely no moral, humane, caregiver could object to that.

the video of the Nazi killer nurses reminded me of where we are going today. The villanization of unvaccinated people and not permitting them to enter certain places. In Australia they are building containment centers that can house thousands of 'sick' people. How long before these 'containment centers' let some type of chemical/gas spread through the rooms and a notice is sent out to the loved ones that their loved one died of covid. So, easy to see happening. Australian cops are arresting and beating people they see outside without a mask. Now some nurses and doctors in the U.S. are whistle blowing the fact that if you have covid and are admitted into a hospital they do not provide adequate treatment like they used to for secondary infections like pneumonia . The hospitals are incentivized by the government to put patients on ventilators and withhold any other medical treatments from them. Family are not allowed in to advocate for their loved ones. Nurses in our local area make nextdoor postings that if you are unvaccinated you should 'die'.

Great channel, but you need to put comments section back open on your most relevant video about Nazi nurses. This has to go viral. What is wrong with people commenting. We know there are holocaust deniers and that might upset a few people. But warning nurses of what can happen when they follow orders, in times like these is very important. Please open comments section, you will get comments, but it will make the video go viral. Isn't that what you want. To warn as many people as possible. Or are you just following orders and shutting it down??

as with every other person advocating a pursuit of meaning, they use examples such as 'love' that demonstrate they haven't delved into the mechanics of what that actually means. They romantasice and spiritualise 'love' and 'humanity' as if there were some intangible aspect that elevates humans from the animal baseness. This is false. Example: There ARE animals that experience pair-bonding, just as much as there are arachnids that are as likely to eat their partner as allow them to escape. There are equally torturers as victims and the difference between the two is not a matter of 'humanity'. It's a matter of complexity. Rats perform necrophilia, it's not a human activity. Cats torture mice while alive, it's not a human activity. Dogs will suckle cats, some species of bird with remove eggs from anotehr bird's nest and replace them with their own, forcing the unwitting bird to raise chicks that aren't hers. Apes use tools and Spiders construct webs. Ants have political alliances with other nests so you can't point to politics as a distinct human activity. We are not seperate from the animal kingdom, we ARE the animal kingdom. These activities, when seen in humans, are considered human activities, despite the fact there are numberous examples in nature. It's just that, owing to our overcomplex ability to think about things in more sophisticated ways, we can take them to more logical extremes. Everything we do, animals do. There is no 'uniquely human'. It's a myth used by people to convince themselves that they are worth something. Because simply surviving is never meaning enough. And THAT is why there is a rise in Nihilism. Because people are now, thanks to oracular technology like google, able to see all of this. Pair unwanted knowledge with industrialisation, less natural light, social guilt about behaviour, doom-ful predictions about the environment, increased leasure time allowing such things to circulate in the mind, lack of activitry(sedentary lifestyles), poor diet and longer lives... Really, nihilism is just the sensible conclusion. Nothing has meaning, despite us wanting it to.

Thank you!!! Although I respect and admire all this man has gone through at the camps, I can't help but feel icky at some people putting him as some sort of infallible mastermind. When in reality, he just gives his opinion on life based on his worldview and philosophy, not on scientific facts or measured observations. So to blindly follow this as your entire worldview as if it was a "truth" is questionable at best. And although I may not agree with all your points, like nihilism, since I follow other philosophical beliefs, ALL the scientifical points you raised were spot-on!
