I really like this idea of death trying to correct itself. The people from the first movie was suppose to die in that plane crash but didn't, so death killed them in other ways which in term prevented these characters from dying when they were suppose to, and so death tried to kill them all of at once with the highway crash.

i feel like death is this underpaid intern who is supposed create these huge calculated plans everyone keeps messing it up.

I remember watching through all 5 movies the first time over a decade ago and this scene never fully processed in my brain at the time. Revisiting it, man… it certainly hits different.

As you watch the scene, you start to realize somethings up. Eugene talks about replacing a teacher who died, okay, so that happens, and he avoided death. Then Burke talks about a train wreck and you go...wait a second why would they only send one trooper to work this and why does it sound familiar. Then Kat talks about her bus crash...and Clear and the Audience puts it together that they were spared thanks to what happened in the first one

This reminds me of that "Pfaffenbach" scene from the original "Hot Shots!"

I know "Kill or be killed" didn't exist until the 5th film, but if the substitute teacher got killed instead of Euegne who was filling in for Lewton, wouldn't that mean Eugene gets the substitute teacher's remaining years?

That's why this movie is my favorite in the series. Also, I like to think that "Death's design" is just a game Death plays occasionally. Like, Death enjoys killing a group of people one by one in these elaborate ways. Every single one. That's why not a single soul survives in 3 and 4. That was a typical game for Death those times. But Death screwed up in 5. Probably didn't expect the person receiving the premonition this time to actually prevent the deaths. Usually, they just brush off that vision and the adjacent occurrences as "coincidences." But not this time. And that led to this whole entire series of events that rippled outward and caused more people to delay their deaths. I imagine Death going, "Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Gotta fix this!" And in all this mess and complications Death created, Death just became tired by the end and decided to let Kimberly and Thomas live this time. He just wanted a vacation and to start over, never to deal with this same group of people again. And then we get to 3 and 4-

The shootout death offscreen reminds me of the 5th movie

This does explain the reverse order. Todd was the first to die so seeing that his death spared Kimberly, she would have been the first one out of the pile up survivors to cheat death previously. When she failed to die again because of her premonition, she was the first one it attempted to kill again. She survived because of the cop saving her but she was first on the correction list.

Kimberly saw the report about Tod's death, so she wasn't killed by hijackers. Eugene was saved when Mrs. Lewton died, because he wasn't stabbed by a student. Rory saw the sign crush Carter, so he didn't get crushed by the theater collapse. Kat didn't suffocate because her bus ran over Terry. Thomas wasn't killed in a shootout because he went to clean Billy's body. It said when Thomas was researching Flight 180 that Alex was killed by a fallen brick. Maybe he saved Evan when he saw the brick falling and the brick hit him instead. As for Nora and Tim, maybe they were supposed to die and Clear saved them. That's my theory.

Big plot twist, people from the fifth and second films were in the first film the whole time ; didn't know it until this. Just look at everything that happened.

They were my friends? Hold up, let's go back to the first final destination, she was a loner, she was staying away from all of them, she was reading a book

In reality the Butterfly 🦋 effect does exist you can change the timeline of others.

This is the exact reason why the characters in Final Destination 2 die in backwards order. The Route 23 Pileup survivors talk about the first time they've cheated death. And their respective interferences involved the death of a Flight 180 survivor.

The teacher part dosent make sense if he is taking about the teacher in the first movie.

Even worse - by his survival, Sam unintentionally doomed his girlfriend, everyone else from the bus, everyone from the First Film and the Second Film to Death. To wit - Molly was not supposed to die on the bridge; she was safe from that, as it was shown in the premonition. Her death was meant to be at Peter's hand, but Sam saved her from the supposed fate and unknowingly puts her on the list. The two later intend to travel to France together - on Flight 180. Because the two of them were on the plane, Alex received a premonition of the plane exploding in midair. However, Alex and his friends were destined to get off the plane for Death's plan to unfold. When they do, Kat survives because Terry is run over by a bus that she was traveling on which resulted in her being unable to make it to the bed and breakfast she was supposed to be staying at that had a gas leak; Thomas survives because he was called to clean up Billy’s remains, avoiding the shootout robbery that ended his partner’s life; Kimberly survives because she stopped to watch a news report on Tod’s death inside the mall and didn't die with her mother in a car theft/heist that her mother was shot and killed in; Rory survives because he avoided going to the theatre in Paris that collapsed because he was so disgusted by Carter's death that he went back home instead; Eugene survives because Valerie Lewton died and he was transferred to a new school (Mt. Abraham High School) to take over her class and avoided being murdered by one of his former students, the fate of his replacement teacher at his old school, literally the day he was transferred and Eugene then dies because Clear, the only Flight 180 survivor left, opens his hospital room door and she died with Eugene as well. One tiny act... and you doom over a dozen people to death.

Idk how I managed to see FD2 before FD. Everything makes so much more sense now! Lmao

When I first watched this not only did I get goosebumps but a sudden chill down my spine what a powerful revelation in the movie hats off to the writers

Clear:when we got flight 180 it didn't just change our lives it affected everyone and everything we've come into contact with since being alive after we were supposed to die it cause a outward riple a rift in death's design

As existentially crippling as this is, we can all agree that death in this universe sucks at its job

I think this is probably the best twist to The first and second movie

It doesn't matter who intervens and saves who in the end everyone will die from death one accident or another

If it wasn’t for Sam Lawton which is basically the first Final Destination then all the other deaths would’ve been avoided

That giving me the willies, nervous and despair every time I watched that, too.

When I was little I didn’t understand this scene cause I’ve watched the movie so many times but now I’m 17 I do understand it now they were talking about the people from flight 180 who died from the first final destination movie

Idk why but when Burke said “that was the night I scraped up billy Hitchcock” chills get sent down my spine. That is the most scariest death of the series. (Because billy looks different decapitated)

So how was Eugene saved from his original death from Ms. Lewton? Wasn't Ms. Lewton leaving the school she was teaching at anyways?
