Even worse - by his survival, Sam unintentionally doomed his girlfriend, everyone else from the bus, everyone from the First Film and the Second Film to Death. To wit - Molly was not supposed to die on the bridge; she was safe from that, as it was shown in the premonition. Her death was meant to be at Peter's hand, but Sam saved her from the supposed fate and unknowingly puts her on the list. The two later intend to travel to France together - on Flight 180. Because the two of them were on the plane, Alex received a premonition of the plane exploding in midair. However, Alex and his friends were destined to get off the plane for Death's plan to unfold. When they do, Kat survives because Terry is run over by a bus that she was traveling on which resulted in her being unable to make it to the bed and breakfast she was supposed to be staying at that had a gas leak; Thomas survives because he was called to clean up Billy’s remains, avoiding the shootout robbery that ended his partner’s life; Kimberly survives because she stopped to watch a news report on Tod’s death inside the mall and didn't die with her mother in a car theft/heist that her mother was shot and killed in; Rory survives because he avoided going to the theatre in Paris that collapsed because he was so disgusted by Carter's death that he went back home instead; Eugene survives because Valerie Lewton died and he was transferred to a new school (Mt. Abraham High School) to take over her class and avoided being murdered by one of his former students, the fate of his replacement teacher at his old school, literally the day he was transferred and Eugene then dies because Clear, the only Flight 180 survivor left, opens his hospital room door and she died with Eugene as well. One tiny act... and you doom over a dozen people to death.

Technically Molly's death wouldn't have happened at all if Sam had lied to Peter and said that Molly dies last in order to protect her. By saying she never died is what got her added to the list of death's design. The Cop that Peter killed was added there by accident.

Kimberly saw the report about Tod's death, so she wasn't killed by hijackers. Eugene was saved when Mrs. Lewton died, because he wasn't stabbed by a student. Rory saw the sign crush Carter, so he didn't get crushed by the theater collapse. Kat didn't suffocate because her bus ran over Terry. Thomas wasn't killed in a shootout because he went to clean Billy's body. It said when Thomas was researching Flight 180 that Alex was killed by a fallen brick. Maybe he saved Evan when he saw the brick falling and the brick hit him instead. As for Nora and Tim, maybe they were supposed to die and Clear saved them. That's my theory.

That's stupid." It felt wrong. And yet... I heard some gunshots and I ran outside. Some kids were trying to steal my mom's car. She tried to fight them off, she was a fighter, and they killed her. After the funeral I kept thinking that it should have been me. I guess everyone must think that. But I guess I was right.”

Kimberly- Todd Kat- Teri Eugene - Val Billy - Thomas Burk Rory - Carter That leaves Evan Lewis, Nora, and Tim. However everyone from flight 180 is accounted for except Alex and Clear. Even if Alex someone prevented Evan Lewis's death and Clear prevented Nora and Tim's death, the fact that Clear is still alive means that there is an error. Also the order the flight 180 survivors died is inconsistent with these survivors.

This does explain the reverse order. Todd was the first to die so seeing that his death spared Kimberly, she would have been the first one out of the pile up survivors to cheat death previously. When she failed to die again because of her premonition, she was the first one it attempted to kill again. She survived because of the cop saving her but she was first on the correction list.

It could also be one of those “fonder in hindsight” things. At someone’s funeral, you’ll often hear lots of people talk about how amazing someone was and extolling (sometimes exaggerating) all their best qualities. Our perceptions of people will often mellow and become nostalgic in a way, after they die. While Clear may not exactly have been friends with the others, she likely still felt a certain kinship with them because of what they had been through together, so that made her overlook their bad qualities and remember them in a fonder light.

That's why this movie is my favorite in the series. Also, I like to think that "Death's design" is just a game Death plays occasionally. Like, Death enjoys killing a group of people one by one in these elaborate ways. Every single one. That's why not a single soul survives in 3 and 4. That was a typical game for Death those times. But Death screwed up in 5. Probably didn't expect the person receiving the premonition this time to actually prevent the deaths. Usually, they just brush off that vision and the adjacent occurrences as "coincidences." But not this time. And that led to this whole entire series of events that rippled outward and caused more people to delay their deaths. I imagine Death going, "Shoot! Shoot! Shoot! Gotta fix this!" And in all this mess and complications Death created, Death just became tired by the end and decided to let Kimberly and Thomas live this time. He just wanted a vacation and to start over, never to deal with this same group of people again. And then we get to 3 and 4-

The 3rd movie didn't follow up on the 2nd movie because James Wong and Glen Morgan didn't like how the 2nd movie's survivors didn't have anything in common outside of the disaster they encountered and they always wanted each sequel to be stand alone movies where our heros figure out Death's design, but they couldn't return for Final Destination 2 because they were working on other projects so David Ellis took over. To be honest, I don't like their attitude towards Final Destination 2 because I think the movie did a great job at tying itself into the 1st movie and how our heros do a better job at working together to beat Death. Plus, it introduced new ideas that stopped the movie from being a rehash of the 1st movie such as new life defeating death. James and Glen's approach to sequels sounds like it would make the franchise feel stale and the 3rd movie did feel like a retread of the 1st movie without doing anything new that actually changes up the story in a meaningful way. As for David Ellis taking James and Glen's approach when he made the 4th movie, I honestly don't know what say about that.

The idea of paramedics and other individuals working in emergency services sounds like it could introduce interesting concepts to the lore of how death works and how people can potentially combat it (or, at least, stave it off).

Evan may have been caught up with Alex's death since his apartment is made of bricks and Alex died of a brick which probably prevented Evan from going to a place where he would've died. Nora and Tim might be just on the Highway or have to do with an FD5 character or also Alex. (The chances of that water bottle perfectly landing on the breaks, jamming it makes it seem like it's apart of death's design so the chances of them just being on the highway are low)

Actually, he did. The first thing he says is, “You remember that theater in Paris that collapsed last year and killed everyone inside? Well, I had tickets to go.” He was supposed to go to that theater, but I’m guessing the theater collapsed on the same night that Carter was killed, which Rory witnessed. And it somehow prevented him from going to that theater, saving his life.
