I might be a minor, but I 100% agree with what you’re saying about kids having pets. I’m lucky that I have parents willing to bring my animals to the vet, pay for their vet appointments, and parents that understand/trust that I’ve done more research and have knowledge on the topic. Without their help, financially and just by driving me places for the guinea pigs, I wouldn’t be able to take proper care of my guinea pigs the way that I do. If you’re buying a pet that’s going to live in your house, and you’re the adult- you need to understand that some responsibility will fall on you no matter what. I have a 48 square foot enclosure for my boys and they’re so happy- thanks to my parents help with certain things! Also, kids here wanting any pets, do a lot of research and present that research to your parents. Before you even get the animals that you want, make sure your parents know the proper care that they need and not just basic stuff. I know you really want pets, but if your parents aren’t going to allow you to it might be better to wait until you can get it yourself. A lot of the issues rise when parents don’t understand what they need to do for animals they buy for their kids. Prevent it before you must rehome your animals.

I know you’re probably not going to be reading this but, I have one guinea pig bc my mom will not buy me another one yes me and my mom take care of my guinea pig we bath it when he gets stinky, my mom buys me my piggy’s Timothy hay my mom buys the pellets but I bought the cage it is 4 by 2 it was definitely an upgrade because I did have a pet store cage and I hated so finally I saved up enough money to buy it, it was about 45 including tax it’s rlly expensive for a 4 by 2 (I’m 12 btw) I don’t have any toys for my little piggy but I will very very soon for Christmas all I really have for him to play with us like this plushie and I bunny toy (he chews on them btw) and I love him so so so much and maybe soon I’ll even get him a new friend he’s one and half me and my mom saved him from his terrible owners they never bathed him they never trimmed his nails they were horrible but that is all I wanted to let you know.

My mom bought my sister two male Guinea pigs, who she neglected off and on, and i took care of towards the end. One passed before i moved out, and the second shortly after i left. I always feel like i failed them, but i was unemployed and couldnt do more. If i had a little more time i couldve given them what they deserved, and im still mad at my mom and sister for it. If my kid ever wants a pet, becoming uninterested or bored of them it is NOT going to change his responsibilities to those pets. I do not care if my child doesnt like it anymore, if he begged and whined, he WILL do the bare minimum (refill their food, water, clean cage) and i will do the rest. Unlike my sister, he wont get to dodge responsibility because he 'doesn't feel like it anymore'. Because animals arent toys, they are a responsibility.

These 'enclosures' are meant for plants, not any type of animal. They're terrible at holding humidity and tend to leak. The metal parts are also toxic to snails.

Do they also get veggies as growing rabbits you can’t just have them on pallets you can feed them veggies with pallets

Guys I just want to check if this is good for my two 4-5 month old female Guinea pig. I am 11 and at my mums house I have a 2x4 grid cage and t my dads I have a 6x2 grid cage. At the beginning of when I got my babie cuties patooties I had a small pet store cage for about s couple weeks but I put them outside with a bigger cage. My mother bought me a 5x2 c&c cage with 1 hidey house and 1 fleece hidey (i plan to expand), we had theses normal wood toys and we loved the piggies a lot but we didnt do enough research, we cleaned them every 2 weeks. Im happy to say i moved them to my room, clean them almkst every day, give unlimited hay and 2 tbsps of pellets everyday, and Ive bought them another hidey.

Don’t worry I am 9 years old and I have two Guinea pigs named Gucci & Lala they both have like a medium size cage I don’t know the dimensions of the cage but my mom says for Christmas she will get them a huge cage that is attached to a playpen also she will get them plastic hideouts,wooden hideouts,tunnels,fleece hideouts, and a bed. Also instead of impulsively getting Guinea pigs like KZbin family’s tend to do I actually do my research before buying them. They also eat Oxbow and Kaytee Timothy hay and smallworld pellets.

I'm 13 and am looking into getting guinea pigs, the difference is my parents own a vet clinic where i'm allowed to work, so everything that the guinea pigs own comes out of my pocket and i'm fully required to do the research for these pets. The difference is if my parents think I'm neglecting them. They get re homed somewhere better it does help that I don't need to pay vert bills, it makes owning a guinea pig as a 13 year old way more affordable.

I am an autistic teen who has been obsessed with Guinea pigs and their care for years. I finally rescued two last winter. Everything has been going well so far. They have a ten square foot cage and get clean fleece, hay, veggies, pellets, and water every day. I do also trim their nails and cuddle with them often. They are becoming my soul source of comfort in my life. I think that it is ok for teens to get pets as long as they research first. Not kids though. But if teens or preteens are devoted enough and supported by their parents, and if they do the proper research, they can get pets. It’s sad that the reason most of these are in bad conditions is just because people want to have their cuteness and think they have to do nothing in return. I watched this video to make sure my cage was suitable, and thank goodness it is. Thank you for educating people. That’s all people need, education and thank you for helping to do that. ESPECIALLY THE GODAM PET STORES CAGES THEY ARE HORRIBLE WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT THEY ARE THE PRIME REASON PIGS END UP IN CAGES LIKE THIS-

Ahh, this video takes me back to my veterinary days- I had to quit a few months ago due to an injury and my boss harassing me. Honestly, I miss being able to just pull out random facts and just generally know my stuff in the vet world, but it can really be a pain. The work itself and losing your patients that you've known for a long time.

I've just rescued a miniscule snail. It was on my tobacco plant after I brought some leaves inside. I've given him a bit of the finest, low nicotine tobacco leaf, some water with aver small amount of honey in it. He's juschilling with his eyes in arm looking towards the leaf

10:00 It is sad, but it's insane to me how people trust predator animals around their prey animals. I personally do not own any guinea pigs, but I own a tortoise, and I am EXTREMELY cautious whenever my dog is in the room, even though he has no idea my tortoise even exists, lol Doesn't matter what the pet is, a rabbit, guinea pigs, birds, mice, rats, hamster, etc. They should not be left alone or honestly, just shouldn't even have contact with cats, dogs, ferrets, (certain) reptiles, etc. Keep your pets safe, and all the tiktok videos of puppies "playing" with bunnies, mice, or ducks are not a correct reflection of what to do with your pets. Prey animals CAN NOT be friends with predator animals.

Y'know, I am sick and tired of hearing people COMPLAIN about the prices of animal care. As someone who worked in Veterinary, THAT IS ALL I EVER HEARD. NEWS FLASH!!!! PETS. ARE. EXPENSIVE. I am not rich by any means. I'm living paycheck to paycheck. But I can take care of my damn pets. I TOOK THEM IN. IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CARE FOR THEM.
