Ina, I learned about the brain-gut connection after being diagnosed with gastritis and intestinal ulcers. While we often talk about brain-heart coherence, we sometimes forget about the brain-gut connection. The brain uses so much energy-it's like a ten-pound universe! It even uses energy while we sleep. I often wondered if having issues absorbing nutrients also affects my brain. It must, be because I get cognitive fog after eating large portions of food, especially gluten, which makes eating a challenge. Eating stresses me out because I hate feeling sluggish. It's a journey of self-love and care, requiring wisdom and determination to keep getting better.

I think the reason for fasting is to abstain from meat to clean our systems from animal proteins. As genetically modified beings in an environment we are not adapted to, our creators have given us different rules and advices to keep us healthy. If you search in old texts you will always find the advice for humans not to kill and eat animals, and if they do, at least they should fast...😉

I lost a crap load of wait because of body shaming, and I'm struggling to understand the negative side. I was unhealthy, unfit and way overwait. Finding out the comments people were making behind my back, was a reality check. So it's more of the lesser of two evils
@DearGirlwithAlice

Hi! Thanks for tuning in and sharing your story. Body shaming isn't always apparent...to your point that people shamed you "behind your back." It's much harder to ignore these comments, especially if they come from loved ones and colleagues. The question I ask myself, "Am I comfortable in my skin?" If not, "what can I do to be more comfortable?" If that is to adjust weight, or announce affirmations, or meditate, or eat a healthy and even a savory meal, then be it. I do a lot of self-relfection which helps me maintain a positive body image now. I hope it helps.

So 46 and male, hit a ridiculous weight, which shocked me and I stopped eating. I cut out bread, potatoes and pasta which basically hid away the fact that I wasn't eating. I would some days just take a spoonful of food and scape it around on my plate so it would look like I ate. I would eat a handful of food every two days, maybe a bit less. So it's almost 3 months and I lost 16 kg. The problem now is people commenting on the weight loss and me shifting the goalpost. I was and still am obese, but this weight loss has become an obsession. The question is am I just motivated, obsessed, stubborn, and Anorexic or am I punishing myself for letting my weight get to this point
@DearGirlwithAlice
@DearGirlwithAlice 3 ай бұрын
Hi there! To have the courage to share your journey is admirable. It's good you have cut out the white carbs, which usually have high levels of sugar, which doesn't help in losing weight. What I found with weight loss is 1. I felt good about losing weight and feeling accomplished, and 2. Based on what people were saying, I adjusted my goals. Since I am a people pleaser, I let some of the comments get to my head, which isn't good. With that being said, I cater to a mind-body-spirited balance. If you feel good about losing weight, but your mind keeps focused on it multiple times per day, not just when you eat, there is a level of obsession. Losing weight over some time and seeing results will keep you motivated, but the issue is when you begin to alter your lifestyle significantly to pursue the goals, and when the goals become more drastic; ie, "now I have to lose double that - 36 pounds - and in less time. A common misconception about anorexics is the "punishment element." I talk about the anorexic brain and habits were, based on research, anorexics feel rewarded when they restrict food (it's a chemical reaction in the brain). According to Huberman's research out of Stanford, the punishment element is a misconception. Check out my video where I talk about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGTJYXR7n7l1rJosi=C11oeFWLrbt8Z0T6. I hope this helped answer your question.

I was most malnourished when I realised that I was 15 kg overweight... Constantly tired and depressed while on my "healthy" vegan diet with too many grains and orange juice every morning. The most important thing is to educate yourself about minerals and vitamins and how much you need to function well. The other thing is insuline spikes because of milk alternatives from grains, sugars in fruit juices... Also too much coffee... I am just about to fully understand all the errors I made, but I meanwhile lost 10 kg and got much more energy and no depressions. It is important to exchange experiences and become more self aware and "in tune" with our bodies 🙂

@@key2lyfe The worst is to have a generalised idea about something. You have to fully understand what you are doing and always be prepared to learn and change. There is vegan and vegetarian and not everything that is vegan or vegetarian is healthy. Like for example orange juice. I drank every morning half a liter of orange juice, thinking it is healthy, but now I know that without the fibers it causes a huge blood sugar spike. If you are not willing to study, you better eat everything. Fact is that since years I didn't catch a cold and never had herpes again, and now that I corrected my errors, I got rid of the excess weight and all the other negative symptoms. Iron and vitamin D deficiency is another problem, which by the way also affects omniviores. That's why I say it's a constant learning process ;-)
@key2lyfe
@key2lyfe 3 ай бұрын
@deniacostablanca You need red meat or animal protein in general for iron, but first, a healthy digestive system is necessary to absorb the iron. Most omnivores are low in vitamin D because they are deficient in magnesium and saturated fat. "Oh, you can get magnesium from plants 🤣" WRONG, THE SOILS ARE DEPLETED. You could never debate me on health and nutrition. I've spent 12 years and thousands of hours being wrong, being right, and finding myself back to God's source, which is ANIMAL PROTEIN, MINERAL-RICH WATER, ANIMAL FAT, OMEGA-3 FROM FISH, FERMENTED FOOD, MOVEMENT AND SUNLIGHT TO KEEP THE MICROBIOME HEALTHY. 😱 But you need fiber. Yes, fiber, as in prebiotics like onion, garlic, cabbage, artichoke, and cacao powder. This stuff takes work and the resources to be able to apply them for optimal healing. Trust me ! I know what I'm talking about.

I have been anorexic since I was 34. I had a very traumatic end to my second marriage and I started restricting foods after the birth of my second child. I got down to 110. My normal weight should be between 130-140. Doesn’t seem like much but now in my late 40’s I’m discovering that all that restricting has left me very lacking in much needed nutrients. I am experiencing many strong painful symptoms as I try to replenish these nutrients. I’m finding out that is probably another way of restrictive eating, but at least I’m getting those nutrients back now. I’ve had to start eating meat, eggs, and many other things I wouldn’t have dreamed of eating. It’s very very challenging. Thank you for sharing your story. I feel like my Ana thoughts won’t ever leave me, but I can at least try to direct them to making me well by being picky about getting my nutrients. lol. Sigh. Always a challenge to overcome those persuasive thoughts. ❤

Jasmine, thank you for sharing your journey and for your courage in discussing your experiences. I empathize with you on the struggle of lacking essential nutrients, which can lead to issues like fatigue and gut problems. Normally, I weigh 115 pounds, but I dropped to 97 at my lowest. While calorie restriction initially helped me achieve and maintain weight loss, it unfortunately led to serious issues like inflammation. Ironically, now with an intestinal ulcer and gastritis, I’ve reached my previously desired weight of 103, though I'd prefer to be at 110. I’m now focused on eating healthy without any restrictions-it’s a journey marked by daily pain, especially when I eat. I've found relief through meditation, yoga, and enjoying stews. Increasing my intake of protein and complex carbs while reducing sugar has been crucial. Initially, I lost weight by reducing sugar and white carbs. For a sweet treat, honey or molasses are excellent choices-they're gentle on the gut. I understand your reservations about meat and eggs; I'm not a big fan either. However, as my gut health improves, I start craving nutrient-rich foods like lamb or cow liver, which I’ve grown to love. Living by the seaside in the Mediterranean, with its fresh fish, meat, and the soothing sun, has significantly aided my recovery. The most beneficial practices for me have included using positive affirmations, writing, walking, meditating, and treating myself daily to something delightful, like a spoon of molasses or a gluten-free cookie. Additionally, I've cut out alcohol, which has significantly improved both my mental and gut health. When I used to drink wine, I diluted it with sparkling water to cut calories. Remember, overcoming eating disorders is challenging, but with moderation and perspective, progress is possible. I honor your journey and encourage you to be the girl you want to be. I'm always here for you. If there's any topic you'd like me to cover, whether it's eating disorders or something else, please fill out the Google form in my description. Thank you for being brave !
