Hello sir, good day! I just wanna ask in behalf of my sister the wife of a seafarer who's discharge from work and died from accident recently.. Is there a way she can claim his ITF provident fund? He's from Philippines anyway who's been working before since 1995- 2019 and with ITF I have heard that he can only claim it after he's 55 years of age. But he died and left two small kids with his wife. I hope you can answer my question..it could be a great help for her raising their kids and for their future education..if she could claim some remaining benefits. Thank you.

As a STCW certified master at seaspan on a near coastal 1 class vessel this under manned or minimum manning certification is also a problem for me as well .I’m suppose to carry a crew of 7 but my employer is working with a crew of 5. We trade to Astoria Oregon with a manning certificate for near coastal 2 with a extension for up to 35 n.m. Offshore so we can go west of the ATBA ie area to be avoided since it’s as far as 27 n.m. At the widest point. The manning regulations don’t cover vessels with a 3 man crew for continuous operation. There is no such regulation This needs to be a question to the CMC ie council of marine carriers and transport Canada. “ why are companies being given these deregulation for manning. “ This is a fatigue issue ,safety of personnel in the event of a emergency onboard the vessel.
